It's great that we have a theater in our little city. I wish that they had updated seats and a larger screen. But I'm just spoiled coming from Southern California. I like that you can buy your tickets online now and they are putting together something that you can scan and it'll print out your tickets or you don't have to wait on them at the concessions. This is a great small town theater with a traditional concession stand & a few good employees. This would have been a 4 star review had the business stayed in their lane (movies). Where they lose me is with the free propaganda movie screening posters & pre movie political ads we were forced to watch. This isn't 1940's Germany & promoting the likes of Alex Jones, among others, is gross. Rich 'Good Ole Boys' chanting of the need to "take Payson back" isn't refreshing, it's alienating. A movie theater is no place for political drama. Especially if they do not want to alienate paying customers ‍ Oddly unrelated: the usher also lied to the theater about post credit scenes for the movie we watched. He told the room there were NONE & that it was time to go. There were two & we have no clue why he lied... other than to get a jumpstart on cleaning the theater. read more

My two 12yo daughters and I went to Payson on vacation and decided to go to a movie while we were there. This little theater was super cute, clean and the people who work there are super nice. Best of all, the prices were great!! I hope to visit again the next time I am in the area. read more

Employees are polite and cordial. The only reason a four star is the seats are not very comfortable.

We went on a Thursday afternoon at 4:00 and we were literally the only ones there along with another couple that were watching a different movie. We had the entire movie room to ourselves. Since we were the only ones there we didn't have to wait in any lines whatsoever. Fairly clean as theaters go. I would definitely recommend this place if your in town or even if you just want to kill a few hours since the tickets and snacks are way cheaper than in the valley. read more

My inlaws live near Payson, and we were visiting with our 2 month old daughter over the Christmas holiday. What better way to take a break from parenthood for a few hours than to leave the baby with her Grandma and go to a movie? We saw "Little Fockers" at the Sawmill Theaters in Payson. Clean little movie theater, no line at the box office, cheap for going to the movies. We spent $18 for a matinee, a large popcorn and a large soda. The concessions guy gladly mixed my request for "easy butter" into the whole bag instead of just sprinkling it on the top. A nice change from the huge megaplexes I am used to around Denver. The seating is stadium style and each seat rocks back for extra comfort. The aisles aren't too narrow either, so you can actually stretch out a little. The screens aren't that big, but hey, it's small town USA. The sound is fine and the screens are by no means small, so it works. Kudos to the staff, too. We were in a hurry to get home, but my wife left her wallet under her seat in the theater. When she ran in to the lobby and asked the first employee she saw if anyone had found a wallet, he had it to her literally within seconds. This is the cutest little theater for a small town and I love that it's not super busy on a Friday night being the only theater in town! Everyone was so nice and friendly to my friends and I. My wife and I came to Sawmill Theatres because, at the time, they were showing a movie our local theatre wasn't. Immediately I was impressed. The building itself was well-kept(no litter randomly flying around in the wind), the inside of the building smelled nice and fresh, and the staff were extremely friendly and professional. Buying the tickets was a breeze, as well as getting snacks. My wife usually has a difficult time picking out the type of snacks she'd like, and the concession woman was very patient and helpful, and though she upsold me on a large drink, she was very polite and friendly about it. When we(the audience) were waiting for the show to begin, the temperature was a little higher than was comfortable, yet the staff was right on top of it, making sure everyone was extremely comfortable, and to let them know if anything else was required of them. The quality of the seats, as well as the inside of the theatre itself was beyond gorgeous, and overall, we felt we had definitely more than gotten our money's worth. If you ever have a chance to visit the Sawmill Theatre in Payson, AZ for a movie, I HIGHLY suggest it. You won't regret it. read more

I give 2 stars for the reasonable prices, but the selection of movies isn't great at all. There's never more than 6 movies, and it's mostly Marvel-type movies. What about the horror movies and comedies? Over the summer, it seemed that there was at least 3 Marvel movies showing at one time ALL SUMMER. Definitely need more of a selection. We hardly ever go because we aren't into Batman/ Spiderman and all that. Very disappointing for my family! read more

I love this little theater. My husband and I go a couple times a month. Prices are reasonable for tickets and concession. The only thing I'd wish for are better seats because I have been spoiled with recliner seats at other theaters in the valley. But I just take my back cushion and I am good. read more

I felt like I was transported back in time to the 90's where you can get movie tickets, popcorn, and a soda for TWO people for under $20. A large popcorn with refills is under $5, and a large soda was under $4. Customer service was great and there was hardly anyone there to see a movie, even on opening night. Every time we come into town to visit with family we always stop here for a movie. The staff are always friendly and the area is mostly always clean. The only con really is they don't accept credit or debit card and they don't have nachos.. lol I'm sure the reasoning behind the cash only is for lower ticket prices which I'm happy about, but really really wish they would get some nachos and cheese with jalapenos..ha-ha they I'll up it to 5 stars.. read more

Sawmill Theater was nice, clean and semi-friendly staff. Most seem like they are just going through the motions. Nevertheless, great picture and sound quality in the theater. My only drawback was the seats. They were so uncomfortable. I did not take advantage of the concessions because we just ate lunch prior to arrival. read more

We are so grateful for having a movie theater in Payson....there's only 15,215 residents. The Sawmill is really a very nice theatre, especially since they went digital and made one of the large screens 3-D. Price went up a dollar (still a good price). Excellent popcorn popped with coconut oil (the best oil you can use health-wise). It's d-lish. Very friendly staff, they always check the temperature as the movie starts to insure it's comfortable and it's stadium seating. Please give it a try, it's a good time and when you're done, either step next door to Scoop's for ice-cream or a d-lish's latte OR next to Scoop's is Macky's Grill (our favorite). read more

Located of of highway 87 sawmill theaters is a small 6 screen cinema. When you purchase your tickets you walk in the front lobby which has a pretty large variety of food to eat considering the small size of the theatre. There are 6 screens for you to watch the biggest newest movies. When you enter the theatre there are not a wide variety of seats so make sure you get there early! When you get there early you grab your seats and there is no pre-movie entertainment or sound. There are very few previews which is good and bad for some people, so if you plan on getting there early make sure you bring something to do while you wait. The seats are by far the most comfy seats I haver ever sat in at a theatre. This is overall a great little theatre to stop in and catch a show! read more
