That's when I decided to change my Cardiologist to Dr. Nick, he would not clear me unless I had the proper testing done. The results of that test showed I could have had a heart attack / or worse do to major blockages in my heart..blockages I was unaware of.. Real, down to earth, not fancy but honest, thorough and terrific. I had seen her for an intial meeting and then went back several months later for a physical. She remembered me. She asked personal questions that we had discussed on the last visit. I know she knew who I was. In a busy practice and being new, I was impressed. The only reason she got 4 stars is you will wait FORVER. Be prepared. For me it is worth it. I waited 2 hours to see her but she spent a good hour with me. She never makes you feel rushed. If you can sit there and not get frustrated waiting, she is well worth the wait. Don't be shy. she will look over every inch of your naked body and prod and poke but you will know you are in great hands and if she says you are OK and healthy, you are.

I had a colonoscopy done here yesterday. They made me pay $250 in advance for the possibility of a…read morepolyp removal. Kim, the office manager, assured me that I would be reimbursed if the gastroenterologist does not find any polyps. Before I paid the fee, I called my health insurer, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), and a representative explained that Island Digestive Health Center had a legal right to charge an advanced fee and that $250 is what BCBS charges for removal and that BCBS cannot interfere with Island DIgestive's policies. The gastroenterologist, Dr. Subramani; the anesthesiologist, Dr Su; and the registered nurses were thorough and professional. Fortunately, I had no polyps, so I am now waiting to be reimbursed. I am not coming here again because of the imposed out of pocket fee. In 2021, I had a colonoscopy done at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jeff, and I did not have to pay anything. I am considering going back there for my next colonoscopy.

The office staff is incredibly unprofessional. The assistants don't tell you who they are, if you call there, it's hard to get anyone on the phone. I called for results several times and I have to wait for them to be there from lunch or in the office, as they leave early. I paid cash for my appointment and waited on blood results. They called and left messages on my phone leaving no indication of the blood results. On the day I could reach them, I was put on hold for 20 minutes before someone would help me... and the nurse? or assistant? Lori... did not want to tell me my results, it was like pulling teeth. I had to ask questions and she hesitantly answered them. For example, I asked if my vitamin D levels were on track now. Lori told me my numbers were a little lower than what they should be and she said the Dr. said I should take a vitamin D supplement over the counter. Meanwhile... she was ready to end the call with, "your results are ready upfront at the desk". Then Lori said.. "oh why were you taking something for it"? I said, "yes, Dr. Darrow gave me a vitamin D script" that ran out. Also, when you initially go into the office, the girls behind the desk don't even acknowledge that you are there unless you say something to them. I am going to find a place that cares for and values their patients. This place, to me, is unacceptable... even if the Dr. is good. Just my opinion.
