My wife and one kid split five tapas while my son and I each had a menu at fifteen euros (3 courses). The tapas were generous and the take helped themselves. The food ranged from good to very good... Nothing exceptional, but nothing mediocre either. Good local wines with several bio on offer. The tiny kitchen is probably overwhelmed on busy nights but our food came out pretty quickly and on cue... Well paced. Lots of local food, Catalonian fare. Four of us ate for a hundred euros with tons of food and a bottle of wine. In France that's quite reasonable...

Veggies came in the side in a flavorful broth - we used all of it on the couscous. I can't tell you what was in the tangine other than potatoes and carrots, but it was fantastic. Only wish the portions were bigger. Overall great (vegan) food and fantastic service. Only disappointment was the price - €70 for four lunches and two bottles of water. Food quality was good and it was definitely the best meal I've had in France in the last three days, so I can't complain too much. Despite the price, I'd go back - especially to take someone out who wanted good vegan.

The foodtruck craze has not avoided France, even in Perpignan we are starting to find our own food…read moretruck options. Torcatis foodtruck has been operating for a few months already and I had the chance to order from them a couple of times. The black foodtruck can be found on route d'Elne, not far from the cinema complex Mega Castillet from Tuesday to Saturday for lunch from 11:30 to 15:00 and from 19:00 to 22:30 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for dinner. This foodtruck offers burgers and from the buns to the ketchup, everything is homemade. That should explain the prices, which are understandly higher than your regular fast food restaurant. It is totally worth it! They also have homemade desserts but to be fair, I have not tried them so I will focus on the burger deal: burger + fries for 8€. The soft bun is covered in poppy seeds. It is the best burger bun I have ever tasted, it could almost have it on its own, it reminds me of a brioche but not as sweet. The burger itself is a "butcher style" ground steak, and you can choose how you want it cooked by the way! The toppings are unusual and also of great quality. I think their inspiration came from a little book called l'Atelier du Hamburger de Big Fernand... the combinations are great, and they even made their Christmas burger special a regular on the menu! It is called the Torca'Rossini and has foie gras and caramelised onions in it... Mmmm! One downside to the Torca truck is that they are quite slow... If you order around lunch time, count at least 30 minutes for your burger to be ready. I guess that's again a sign that they take good care making their food, but it's worth knowing so that you can plan ahead... this is not fast food! I hope Torcatis foodtruck stays around... I find good old fasioned burgers hard to find in this corner of the world!
