Case in point; last Christmas I was looking for a nice ribbon to wrap my gifts with. I couldn't find what I was looking for anywhere, until I popped into Poundland and found three metres of the nicest ribbon I had seen so far for only a pound. Poundland isn't one of those scabby pound shops filled with junk either. It is clean, brightly decorated and the staff are helpful. Oh dear, I've just realised I've turned into one of those people who go on about how great pound shops are. Next I'll be wearing tracksuit bottoms outdoors.

I think the name says it all really, items all priced at a pound and therefore I feel it needs to be judged for what it is, it's not Harrods, so I'm amazed why so many people turn their noses up at these shops, it's not as if they're trying to be something they're not. The items they sell are a pound so big deal if some of it's tat? It can actually be quite amusing looking at some of the items they stock, such as crazy multi coloured feather dusters and £1 DVDs. I saw one a while ago that was a Halloween DVD and the stories were "House on The Haunted Hill" and "The Skeletons" oooohhh, they looked as though they were made by some lonely old guy with his home video camera. I kind of regret not buying it as I'm sure the comedy factor would have been awesome. I usually get really into the spirit of Halloween and Poundland is great for decorations, they have all sorts of things and I even noticed they had some rubbery severed limbs last year which looked hilarious. This is the same for Christmas party decorations and things for Birthday parties, especially if you have children you can get party bags and goodies to fill them with here. Overall, Poundland stocks the kind of items you would expect but it's not all tat in this shop and for household goods and party accessories this is a great shout.

I overhauled my skincare and started using clarins products so i decided i wanted to find a salon that used these products and treat myself to a facial. I came across this salon on 5pm.co.uk and booked in for my treatment. The salon quickly contacted me to confirm my appointment date and time. My therapist was katie who took the time to chat over my skincare routine and what products i currently use and what i was hoping to achieve. The express facial lasts 45 mins but at no point was i made to feel rushed and i was even treated to a foot massage whilst my face mask was on -bliss! I loved the salon and have booked in for my next appointment. My only reason for not giving this a 5 star review is that i did feel slightly pressured to book in for more expensive treatments and purchase products in store. The bottle of water and complementary fudge at the end of the treatment was a lovely touch and i am really looking forward to my next appointment.

It's like the Primark of the cosmetic and home accessories world and although everything is very cheap they stock all the brand names and I topped up on Listerine at only £1.50 and my favourite L'Oreal shampoos. My favourite time of the year is topping up on stationery for a new term at Uni and they had an excellent range here, again, all very reasonable priced. I purchased two folders for 97p for both, lined paper at 67p and patterned plastic wallets at only 55p! What a bargain. If you're looking for dirt cheap, good quality goodies then Wilkinsons comes highly recommended.

It's one large shop with each business taking a side and it's all really nicely laid out - very hard to resist buying something, as I discovered. Jo Malone have a row of fragrance testers all laid out. I ended up buying a small bottle of one of their perfumes as I figured I "needed" it for my trip anyway. The staff were super friendly, and it was a nice shopping experience. I'm sure I'll be back again next time I'm at the airport.
