Great place to bring the little ones - my son had a great time at this place as there's plenty of different activities such as a solid slide setup, maze, & different nooks they can explore. They have different art activities setup & the staff is welcoming. We paid $125 for a family annual pass - it costs $10 per person, including kids, for a day pass. Love this place!!

Great place for kids. All outdoor except a converted rail car which has some toys. There is a large tent and the "downstairs " area play area has places to get away from the sun. I think it may close if there is rain. There's a bathroom (2) outside the yard and one at the train area. I didn't notice a baby changing area, but the bathroom is large and clean. Love the play area. Tons of space and different things to do. For two adults and one kid both tickets for the train and kid's museum was $60.

They really made something out of nothing here. The "museum is almost completely outside between 2 dilapidated railcar buildings (the children's museum is next to the railcar museum). But there is a lot for the little ones to do. Think of it as a unique playground (slides, building blocks, a maze, a garden, etc.).

    Let the fun begin!

We visited the SCM this past Sunday in honor of Savannah's free museum Sunday! The atmosphere was perfect. They truly offer a stress-free environment for both parents and children! The SCM has a ton of different sensory play options from dirt and water to sand and paint. The maze and slide are always a hit with my children. We had a group of 8 kids ranging from 3-13. Everyone enjoyed the visit. One child in the group is autistic and an other has sensory processing disorder. This was the place for them to explore. We had such a great Sunday afternoon!

While visiting Savannah, we were looking for things to do with our family. We decided to give this place a try. I was reluctant at first because it just seemed like a subpar playground that you had to pay to get in to. However, I am so thankful we gave this place a try because our children loved it. The staff was so friendly and the programs they did, such as craft time and story time, were so intentional. Great job. The hands on activities exhausted our children to the point they slept soundly at nap time. It also allowed us to interact in ways with our children we previously haven't had the opportunity to. Give it a shot if you have children and your in Savannah.

A well taken care of garden.

My 9 year old son and I were in Savannah for a few days, and this was a great place for him to run off some steam. The weather was perfect and the staff were very personable. I was very impressed with the gardening and use of the space (that book nook ).

Every visit invites children to touch, build, imagine, create, and explore through fully hands‑on exhibits designed to spark discovery. From interactive play zones to creative problem‑solving activities, the museum blends learning and play seamlessly, helping children build confidence, creativity, and real‑world understanding. Families love the energy, wonder, and joy that fill every corner of the space--it's a place where little learners feel free to experiment, try new things, and be themselves. Whether kids are stepping into imaginative worlds, engaging with STEM‑inspired setups, or joining one of the museum's thoughtfully crafted programs, the Children's Museum of Pooler continues to offer rich, meaningful, and fun learning opportunities for every child who walks through its doors. Footnote: During my visit, I learned that the museum is currently in a period of transition, and because of that, they've had to temporarily suspend future memberships until their long‑term plans are finalized. I can't imagine how difficult that decision must have been. Let's lend this magical place our understanding, and continued support as they navigate this next chapter.

The little one had a great time and we felt very welcomed by the staff. However, this time we felt the experience was not as good and the main reason was because of the attitude & actions of some employees. First off, while we were checking in, the staff was not as friendly and helpful as they were on our previous visit. They had a bit of an attitude because we didn't make reservations before coming. We have a toddler- it's not always easy to preplan your whole day when you have a toddler. Reservations were not full so we were able to go right in. Later on, my granddaughter, who will be three in a month, wanted to play in the area marked for children two & under. At the time, there were no other children playing in that area, so we let her play. An employee walked by and asked how old she was. We told her and she rudely said that she had aged out and that she needed to leave that area. So we left the museum. We could understand if there were children younger than her playing there at the time, but there was no one else in there at all! And my granddaughter is a toddler, not a 6 or 8 year old child, for goodness sakes! It was silly. Use common sense and reasonable discretion when deciding when to enforce certain policies! But truly, the rude & condescending attitude of the employee is what made it so irritating. My daughter did reach out to the Executive Director to discuss the situation and received an apology, so we will give them another chance next time my daughter & granddaughter come to visit. The place is pretty small overall and I would not recommend for older kids as all of the exhibits/play spaces are limited and really geared for younger kids. I personally think $12 per person for admission is a bit much for what the place actually has to offer, but as long as my granddaughter is entertained, we are willing to pay it. She wil likely "age out of it" in a few years unless they add some new & more advanced exhibits/play areas.

It is a very large collection of everything spooky, odd and strange! There are entire rooms focused on serial killers, such as Gacy, HH Holmes and Richard Ramirez. We were in there for a very long time and learned so much from the women running the tour. There was even a guy in our group who had been childhood friends with one of Gacy's victims, which was incredibly surreal and really hit home how real all of this was, and not just entertainment. They also have, or are going to have, another location in Chicago which is very exciting and I would definitely seek that out next time I am there. All in all a 10/10 experience.

There was so much to read, so much to see, and so much to experience. This is a very dark museum so if you have a weak stomach, are faint of heart if easily disturbed I would not recommend. Even still you are heavily warned about what is in each room should you not want to see or experience something by the staff. They were so helpful!! Their regular price is $25 OR $50 for a two day pass, tshirt, tote (or a pin), and sticker. Absolutely great deal if you're wanting some merch. Very spooky, eerie, and overall an interesting time!

The outdoor component includes several boardwalks, sculptures, a butterfly enclosure, and gardens. It's meant to introduce you to the coastal ecosystem and marsh life, which makes it quite unique. Admission is complimentary and there's a decent amount of parking. The main house and museum (the Discovery House) I would rate a 3.5 out of 5 stars. The volunteers on hand do a good job in welcoming guests and introducing the site so that guests aren't just left to wander on their own. While the permanent exhibits explaining the local area, ecosystem, and history were decent, I felt the more modern artwork was quite underwhelming, with many of the works on display having price tags (leads me to believe it was amateur artwork for sale). It left me wishing the weather was nice so I could explore the grounds, but that wasn't meant to be as there was a downpour of rain outside. If you have free time in Hilton Head, I'd recommend a visit to the Coastal Discovery Museum, but probably moreso when the weather is nice so you can explore the grounds.

Strangely enough, the museum instead chooses to lead with exhibits like "1920s dentistry," "wildlife of the barrier islands," and "steam locomotives." When patrons finally get to the Savannah exhibits, the confusion intensifies. The exhibit on Savannah in WWII predeceases the exhibit on Savannah in the Civil War, and Savannah's revolutionary war history is told out of order. Perhaps the worst curation atrocity is that the museum's most famous piece, the "Forrest Gump bench," is behind a glass case. Really? The whole point of museums is interacting with history, and something as sturdy and repairable as a steel bench is a perfect "interactive exhibit" piece. Imagine how much more museum goers would enjoy their experience if they could get their photo taken on Forrest Gump's bench (perhaps even with a wax Tom Hanks sitting on it too!). Forrest Gump was released in 1994 and that bench won't be worth more than the steel its made with in 40 years--no reason to keep it behind a glass case. America is teaming with museum curators desperate for employment. The average SCAD Museum Studies major would froth at the mouth for an opportunity to curate a history museum for such a storied city like Savannah.
