After hearing how well-known Marseille is for pizza, my husband and I decided to seek out pizza during our stay. I saw on Yelp that Sauveur had fantastic reviews, so we went to go find it. It's definitely hidden from the tourist beat and is pretty far off from the Old Port. We arrived around 9pm on a weeknight and the patio was completely full. There was only 1 table left inside, which we managed to snag. There's really nowhere to wait for a table, which is a high possibility if you come here to eat. Service was friendly, and the language barrier here was not as evident at the other restaurants we ate at, basically because this was pizza. We shared a bottle of wine and decided to split one larger pizza to save room for dessert. We ordered the Parma Bianca, which had prosciutto, arugula, parmigiana, emmental, and balsamic. This was one of the best pizzas I have had and certainly better than what I thought I'd find in Marseille! Ingredients were fresh, the pizza was served uncut (as it should be), the toppings were evenly distributed, and the crust was perfectly crisp and not overly cooked. For dessert, we wanted the chocolate mousse but they did not have it, so we ordered the coffee tiramisu. It was delicious-no regrets they didn't have the chocolate mousse! After dinner, the restaurant gives a complimentary shot of limoncello, which is always a sweet ending to a delicious meal! I'd definitely return here in the future, and I recommend anyone who is looking for a delicious, reasonably priced meal to do the same! read more

When in Marseille, you must eat pizza. It's on the coast, closer to Italy, and the Mediterranean sensibilities are present. We came in just as they opened, around 19:30, as is written on their door. The terrace is situated in a cozy little alley, with locals living in the apartments floating above your heads. It's such a lovely atmosphere, in my opinion, to see folks hanging out their windows staring out into the street. An element that makes the space feel more unassuming. We had two pizzas to share - the regular mushroom (champignons) and the buffalo mozzarella fresh tomato. Both were wonderfully complemented the other as the mushroom was a little heavy, while the mozzarella was lighter in texture. My personal favorite was the lighter of the 2, as it's definitely a lot to eat. If you're feeling slightly hungry, I recommend sharing the smaller size between two. It's doable, and especially if you have a side salad and dessert, it's a lot of food to conquer. Just a warning -- the green salad (vert) has a LOT of oil on it. A little too much for me, so it was difficult to finish. We also got a pitcher of the red table wine, which was divine. Definitely get the tiramisu and a coffee to top off the whole experience! Prices aren't crazy for how good this place is! Get there early if you want a table outside. read more

This pizza was fantastic! My husband is from Jersey and a complete pizza snob, but he even loved the pizza. We had the Margherita and a sausage pizza. It was tres bon! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great pizza. The staff was friendly and very helpful, because our French is limited. This is a must try!!! read more

Great place for pizza in Marseilles. It's right by the coast, walking distance from the port.

What a little gem. Rustic, very yummy and worth every cent. The flavours of the pizze are great, fresh and wonderful concoctions. Light crisp dough, not soggy at all. Love that they have half size bottles. Make sure to call as they tend to fill up. read more

Our first night in Marseille, and we managed to snag an outdoor table on a busy Saturday night. Our friendly server delivered us a pizza Royale (tomato, mozzarella, mushrooms, sausage), in the smaller size, and a pesto pasta. This was plenty for two - I did have a green salad on the side, but the greens were very bitter and either undressed or only with a bit of oil, no vinegar or lemon to cut the bitterness, so I wouldn't recommend that. But the pizza was great - super crispy crust, piping hot, fresh toppings. The pesto sauce on the pasta was gorgeous, and tasted homemade. The pasta dish was dotted with yummy bits of cured ham throughout. A simple, unexpectedly good meal that was a real treat. We'd heard Marseille had good Italian food, and so far we'd have to agree! read more

Most travelers don't associate pizza with France, but when thousands of Italian immigrants fled to Marseille, several stayed and made it their home, bringing their cuisine with them. I ordered a Neapolitan pizza and a bottle of wine. The crust was thin and tasted like it came from Napoli directly. Ingredients boasted a ripe freshness and would be happy to return. We have been coming here for 12 years and have not been disappointed yet. The pizza is delicious. In winter come late for the cozy warm embrace of the interior and in summer arrive early to get a table outside. I love the pizza Corsica, my kid loves the pizza francaise. Look for Fabrice and make sure to greet him - if you can speak the Marseilles accent you'll end up in a great conversation! Cannoli for the win.
