I couldn't recommend James or Colin more! They were both so helpful, kind, responsive and…read moreintelligent. They answered every question (and I had MANY). I really can't thank them enough for how well they treated me as well as how they made my case feel as though it was of high-priority to them. I never felt like I was a pest or bothering them and they always made sure I was well-prepared and informed for whatever came my way. I never once felt like my time or money was taken advantage of and everything they did, they checked with me first about. I was never blind-sided by anything. I absolutely recommend James and Colin to anyone needing a great attorney!

I recently bailed on Sexton after a disastrous experience that with him. I wasted thousands and got…read moreabsolutely nowhere with my case. He mislead me from the start, got my retainer and then became hard to get hold of and completely screwed up a court filing which he didn't tell me hadn't been filed for weeks - I kept asking for proof that my document had been filed with the court and I kept getting told that it would be sent. Then I called the court myself and they had no record of a filing in my name. One thing he did - which in hindsight was a total red flag - is that if I asked him questions by email, he'd reply 'There's a lot to discuss here - let's talk on the phone'. I realised later that he didn't want to commit himself to too much in writing. Also annoyingly, he made it difficult to speak to him by sending vague emails about time and dates he was available on the phone....to which I'd respond 'I'm flexible - just tell me when'. Of course, he got to charge a minimum of $100 per email. One of those one liner email exchanges cost me over $300. I pulled him up on it but he made up some BS excuse to justify it. At the beginning, during the initial phone call with him, I asked a simple question to which the answer would help me to decide whether or not to proceed with James as a lawyer. He answered the question, told me that I had a clear cut case and therefore I went ahead and paid his retainer. My case was pretty simple and shouldn't have taken too long - James comfirmed as much on his written response to me after I'd signed all retainer docs. However....as I said earlier, I got nowhere. Just after he supposedly filed the petition in court for real (weeks after he failed to do it before), he dropped into a phone conversation a bombshell that blew my whole case out of the water. He basically told me the opposite of what he told me on our initial phone call - that my case wasn't clear cut at all! I didn't say anything on that call but wrote an email asking him to clarify what he'd just told me on the phone. This time he did commit in writing - with all this new info that if I'd known it at the start of the case, I wouldn't have ever proceeded with my action. After that, I wrote to him telling him how upset I was to get this information so late in the game after my retainer had been significantly drained and I wanted to immediately drop my case and stop working with him immediately. I didn't get a reply for two weeks I think. Then I got this.....and I swear this is for real..... 'Thanks for reaching out. To be candid, your email from 2/6 was so riddled with inaccuracies I assumed you may have been intoxicated when you sent it. When you didn't follow up with a call to discuss the contents of the email or "sober up" and send an appropriately apologetic follow-up email, I assumed you had either forgotten you sent the original one. ' What kind of response is that from a supposed high profile NY lawyer? It is extremely childish and offensive. So to summarise, James is either highly incompetent or the reptilian kind of lawyer that gives lawyers a bad name. Personally I think he knew exactly what he was doing. He's definitely a raging egomaniac.....I mean, you can see that from the film on his website that he had made of himself. Annoyingly, he was recommended to me by someone that I thought would be a good judge of character - but If I'd had no recommendation and watched his film, I wouldn't have gone anywhere near him. I highly recommend that you don't either.

CDL holders: Mr. Ripps is your guy!!…read more We have maintained a safe, spotless driving record for 14 years. To see it potentially go up in smoke was almost too much to bear. We were up against one of the Big Three Tickets of Doom for CDL holders that can lead to suspension of license. I called a peer of Mr. Ripps in full blown hysteria, tears, ugly crying, hyperventilating. He assured me everything would be OK and referred me to Mr. Ripps. How true he was. I talked with Mr. Ripps by phone and email. He explained how the Orangeburg, NY court process works, his strategy, and expected outcomes and timelines. Any question I had during the process was answered immediately and with kindness. The entire process took 4 months to the day and did not require us to appear. Mr. Ripps worked to get the potentially catastrophic charge reduced to a NON-MOVING parking violation with ZERO points and nominal fine. The best part: he delivered the good news during the holidays. It's a wonderful life indeed. For better or for worse, the legal system works on money and relationships. I am so thankful we had the affordable services of an attorney who is respected by his peers and colleagues as well as the courts. Hammer down and keep truckin!

My first interaction with Mr. Ripps was at the Suffern Court in Rockland County two years ago. I…read morenoticed how he interacted with his clients and I was a taken aback on how professional, kind and friendly he was towards them. His friendly demeanor gave me the confidence to approach him and introduce myself at the Court. I explained to him the predicament that I was in (which was not a good one). I was facing up to "15 years" of incarceration. Once I finished my explanation, with a big smile, he said not to worry and gave me his contact details and asked that I set up time with him at his office. Per his instructions, I reached out to his office the following day and quickly got an appointment with him. When I met him, he thoroughly listened to me. He was so reassuring, caring, understanding, explained everything thoroughly (so that I could understand) and was non-judgmental towards me. I immediately hired him as my attorney. Prior to me hiring Mr. Ripps, I had to appear in court every month. It was difficult for me as the court appearances were late in the evening and I had to ensure that my home health aide could stay and look after my husband, Rafael, who is non-verbal and bed-ridden. I am his sole and primary caretaker. Mr. Ripps immediately wrote a letter to the court, in which I signed to waive my court appearances and he would show up on my behalf. This was a very big burden lifted of me. The District Attorney also wanted me to appear at a Grand Jury. Which he also made go away. Whenever I wanted to get an update on my case, I would email Mr. Ripps and he would immediately get back to me with a full report of what was going on. He always asked how my husband and were doing. His positivity and reassurance always made me feel at ease. After TWO VERY long years, and after many meetings between Mr. Ripps and the District Attorney, a verdict was finally made. To my great surprise and with much happiness, he was able to clear me from a Felony to a Misdemeanor, then again to simple Disorderly Conduct - which is a NON CRIMINAL OFFENSE. I was no longer facing "15 years" in a prison and all that I had to pay was $250.00 fine. Additionally, my matter will be sealed. I had never had any issues with the law in the 60 years of age. I was scared and nervous that as a Gay and Hispanic man, I would be discriminated again. Mr. Ripps always treated me with the up most respect. I never felt any discrimination, or any judgement being passed over me. I will forever be grateful for how I was treated and what Mr. Ripps did for me and my husband. This could have been a not so favorable situation for not only me but for my husband. If I were to go to prison, who would take care of my husband? With Mr. Ripps expertise in the law, deep connections / relationships within the courts, and his profound dedication to me and to my case, he made this all go away and for that I am forever grateful! Rafael and I are in awe of you, your character passion and integrity! Jose A. Rodriguez
