I'm not sure if you all know, but President Trump's grandfather was deported from Kallstadt, Bavaria (now part of Germany) for tax evasion and draft dodging. 3 months after the Trump family was deported from Bavaria, Fred Trump, President Trump's dad, was born in the United States. So this town has some historical significance. What if Grandpa Trump had been allowed to stay in Germany? Anyhoo, Saumagen Paradies is the sausage paradise of Kallstadt and is one of the few places to get affordable food in town. Most of the other dining options revolve around wine and the restaurants a little pricey. I think the folks at Saumagen Paradies are friendly and speak a bit of English. The meats are good and they sell canned packaged versions of their deli meats. I recommend the Schwartenmagen. read more
