She has gone over and beyond to help us with all of the necessary arrangements for his cremation, delivery of his ashes to his final resting place, reaching out to the military on our behalf to get our questions answered, etc. When I finally met her in person once we were able to get down to Bluffton, I felt like I had a new friend. With a small cemetery in the back and amble parking on the grass, there is plenty of room for parking. It is right off a major thruway and easy to find for out of towners. With two entrances, it is easy for entrance and exit prior and after a ceremony. Each room has TV screens for memorial videos and photo sharing and the music selection is representative of positive thoughts and memory sharing. The staff is very kind and respectful about meeting all your needs and providing all the time needed for mourning, receiving lines and conversation. Given its purpose, Anderson Funeral Home provides a very nice facility and warm staff.

This is the site of the first chapel on Hilton Head Island which was completed in 1788. This…read morelocation was the center of activity on the island in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, as the chapel was in close proximity to a Militia muster house and a Masonic lodge. It is also home to the oldest existing structure on the island, the Baynard Mausoleum, which was built in 1846 by William Baynard, a wealthy Plantation owner. The cemetery contains the graves and memorials for four Revolutionary War Patriots: Isaac Baldwin, James Davant, John Stoney, and Charles Davant. Charles Davant was ambushed by a Tory militia unit, was mortally wounded, and is the only known Patriot casualty on the island. It is clearly an old and disused cemetery. Some of the headstones are quite worn and impossible to read. There is a small parking area that is accessible from the Matthews Drive ramp. This is history.
