Finding a local doctor who can accommodate you during crisis as well as an excellent diagnostician is a hard find to begin with. Lucky for me a family member highly recommended Dr. Karen Wood. Dr. Wood welcomed me into her practice and her nurse Angela is always so welcoming, funny, such a pleasure to be around and thorough. Together, along with the rest of the medical and office staff, Melissa, Karin, Monica, Kristina and Dee, this team is second to none. An example of their, "Above and beyond" approach is when I needed support locally to participate in a clinical trial for the prevention of cancer reoccurrence. I would have to fly to St. Louis from NC every month for 3 months. I needed to be checked 15 days after the vaccine was administered and couldn't fly back for that. I also wanted to avoid driving to Duke Medial (7 hrs round trip) were my Oncologist is. The clinical trial Director approved Dr. Wood to oversee the exams in between visits. Angela, Dr. Wood's nurse jumped through hoops getting all the necessary paperwork processed. When something didn't show up, she was on it. I can't thank her enough for all that she did for me. Also, a special thanks and loads of gratitude to Dr. Wood for agreeing to all this and always having my back. I highly recommend Dr. Wood and her Family Medical Center. The staff are friendly and always welcoming. And no one beats my Angela!!!

Key - Non-life threatening skin problem. 2. 1st time visitor, and everyone was respectable, empathic, and caring in my experience. 3. They listened keenly and astutely, then recommended a prescription modification that was the exact right remedy. Then went further letting me know it could be fungal or non-fungal but you will know in three days. Then also suggested a cream that would "End It" if it was not fungal. 4. One minor issue I was able to resolve was that they prescribed too little of the medication powder for it to cure my skin. Y killing the fungal infection. I called back as I am of state to this facility. The receptionist told me they could not again prescribe the prescription powder I needed to complete ridding my skin of the infection without my coming back into their office to be seen. I told her "But I am out of State, over (5) hours from you one way. She repeated the could do nothing about it unless I came to their office. I asked to be transferred to the Nurse Practitioner that treated me on Saturday, this was Tuesday morning. I was told she was not in. I then asked for the Nurse Practitioner on duty now. Told I would have to wait as she is with a patient. I waited about (20) minutes on hold, after explaining my entire situation again, the Nurse Practitioner told me "Yes, that was too little an amount to cure it, and I did not want to tease the infection due to other much more serious that I have to keep in check or they can become life threatening. She agreed with me and promptly sent another prescription to my local pharmacy five miles away, I picked it up, and about a week later my skin was clear. It did reappear in about 10 days however, I had enough of the prescribed powder to hold it off until I could get in and then see my Dermatologist who recommended two different creams which have help finally clear my skin up and bring it back to normal with the skin infection finally vanquished. I feel Novant Urgent Care did an excellent job of diagnosing and prescribing the correct medication powder to help heal my skin efficiently. They are a wonderful group of Professionals to deal with on a Saturday at noon with non-life threatening medical conditions. They were a great help to me and trust me when I write, I have many medical issues I am challenged with in my daily life for decades now. I only mention this because I have experienced excellent medical care to challenging medical care over those aforementioned decades. In my opinion, these are Professionals you can depend on for non-life threatening medical issues and I highly recommend them.

Each time we have communicated with this office we have hit, what seems like, a wall. The administrative staff are rude and attempt to be authoritative and cold. Any efforts made by them are efforts to stall and put patients off. I spoke with E**** this afternoon and explained a dire situation for my sister. By the end of the call we had an understanding that I would bring the new patient paperwork up there and schedule their next available appointment. I clocked out of work and drive my sister to their office. We were met with a very unprofessional E**** and a poor work ethic. I clarified for her that I was the woman she just spoke to on the phone and here's the new patient paperwork. She replies "I'm not going to skip everyone else and give you an appointment". Shocked, I told her my sister needed infusion and this provider was important to this process. She told me "take her to the ER. I'll call you next Monday or Tuesday".

The visit with the doctor is conducted electronically, as Dr Schneyer is in New York; I've never seen him in person. The new patient forms (for 2026) request more information than I'm comfortable giving (not medical), much of it repeated on multiple pages. I genuinely don't think I've ever worked with a doctor's office as incompetent as this one. I have…read moreshown up and they didn't even have a doctor on staff even though I had a scheduled appointment, they change out doctors constantly and I have never ended up getting my billing correctly. I am now battling them and calling every day for almost two full calendar months over their mistake and no one seems to be able to get it fixed. They don't ever call you back, it doesn't matter how many messages you leave for their billing department and even my insurance company continues to call with absolutely no response. I'm about to turn them in for malpractice because this is just terrible.
