Beautiful old historic home in Regina…read more What a lovely place to visit. The home was once lived in by SK's Lieutenant Governors. It is no longer a residence but a museum. Take the guided tour you will learn a lot. Every room is meticulously decorated with period decor and furniture. The basement has a play room for little kids. It is worth venturing down there. They have dress up clothes and a wonderful set up for imaginative play. They also offer monthly Victorian Teas which we have not partaken in yet. But we have reservations. So I'll update later. If you come to Regina I highly recommend a stop at Government House. The admission is free. But they have a donation box.

To say that it has been challenging navigating through the COVID-19 Pandemic is an understatement…read more It was during this past year and a half that we truly came to understand how happy and blessed we are to be part of the dance/twirl family at Martin School of Dance & Baton Twirling. MSD has provided a sense of normalcy and routine, an opportunity for our daughter to stay connected with friends, and continued exceptional dance/twirl training throughout these very challenging times. Thank you so much to all of the faculty for your incredible work during this unprecedented time. Your love for dance shines through everything you do! If you are looking to enroll your child (or yourself!) in a dance class, I highly recommend checking out Martin's amazing new facility and everything they have to offer! Inside their incredible space, you will be surrounded by talented and creative teachers and coaches that celebrate over 60 years of tradition and innovation. More importantly, though, you will find a caring environment that challenges each dancer to reach his or her own potential. There is truly a class for everyone. Whether looking for an introduction to movement with your tiny-tot, a fun beginner class to try something new, a full competitive program with exams and competitions, or an adult class as a former dancer or even a brand new dancer - MSD has a class waiting for you! My daughter has danced competitively at Martin for the past 5 years and has been part of the Sundown Optimist Baton Group for the past two years. Her dance/twirl family has become so important to her, even at such a young age! I am a former dancer myself, and I am enrolled in the Studio '53 University/Adult Advanced Tap! I look forward to this class every week! We chose Martin because of the exceptional dance/twirl training we knew we would receive and we have stayed at Martin because of the relationships and friendships that we have formed! She loves walking through the studio doors because she gets to do what she loves with her best friends! MSD provides so much more than technical dance training - dance builds confidence and self esteem, provides an outlet for both physical fitness and mental well-being, fosters a sense of independence and maturity, and nurtures friendships. We are excited about the future at Martin School of Dance & Baton Twirling!

So FYI, most eateries in Regina are closed on Sundays. No, I'm not messing with you. No, don't…read moreask me why. It really would have been helpful if my workplace gave me a pamphlet on what Tourism Regina doesn't tell you. My theory is that most people spend lazy Sundays at home with their families building stuff (seems like everyone's building something here) or there's a Riders game on. Well, we were two starving Vancouverites looking for food before the game and couldn't find any but chain restaurants open on that fateful Sunday. So hotdogs and beer it was at Mosaic. We were pretty impressed with how efficient these guys are. Massive lines of people moved like some precise, Swiss-made watch and we never had to wait more than 10 minutes at the beer or loo line. Just for context, there was an estimated 37,000 people there for the Riders/Tigercats game. Compare this to 40 minute beer lineups at Rogers Arena, and well, you get the picture. For idiots like me, it's also an open stadium where you can experience pretty extreme weather. See, I didn't know football was played in an open air arena. For some reason, I kept thinking it would be like a Canucks game at Rogers. High up on the bleachers, one minute the sun was searing my skin and the next, cold wind blasting my face. So layer appropriately. Also be prepared to have random children fall asleep on you. It's all communal seating here. Once the game gets going, the energy is phenomenal, especially for a first-time football watcher like me. However, I have come to the conclusion that if I ever watch football again, it's infinitely more comfortable parking your ass on the couch than those hard bleachers. Otherwise, this is a must experience in this town!
