As a bride, you tend to get a lot of decision fatigue when planning a wedding and it was so nice to work with a professional that took away a lot of that stress. Sarah has a lot of experience shooting at SF city hall and various places around the city. She had a lot of great insight into best times of day for lighting, parking, and crowdedness of areas. We had a phone call a week in advance to prep for our day and something that stood out was her reassuring us how flexible she is if plans change. During the wedding it was so nice to have Sarah direct us and to be able to turn my brain off while she took control of all the posing and shots. We were about to shoot our last city location after the ceremony when I realized that I totally gave her the wrong location name that I wanted to shoot at which happened to be across the GG bridge. This is by far the most unprofessional/wild experience I have ever had in my life. My review is going to be long, if you don't have time to read it, then I'm going to provide a summary for you, so you get the gist. Bottom line: Sarowly Photo cancelled on me 6 days b4 my wedding. My review: I found Sarowly on Instagram and reached out to her around 5/2023. I decided early on that I wanted her to capture our special day. We were planning on eloping at SF City Hall on 1/16/24. I reached out and learned that the cheapest SF elopement package was $3,000. You get a 3-hour photo session and also get to travel to a second location. We weren't interested in traveling to another location. After going back and forth, we decided to book the $3,000 package for our wedding, we paid the deposit of $1,500 on 6/7/23. Her package guide mentions that this includes her location expertise and recommendations. I reached out to her on 8/25/23 to ask her for location recommendations, and she did not respond. I needed help planning. I emailed again on 8/31/23 and finally received a response stating she will send me a list of her favorite locations closer to the actual date of my wedding. On 12/29/23, I sent Sarah an email stating we still need to choose the 2nd location. I sent a pdf with my inspo. Sarah did not go out of her way to reach out to me to help me plan. I did not hear from her even though she said she would hmu closer to the date. She responded on 1/3/24 and sent me the photo session guide and asked for photos of my dress to help me plan, which I appreciated. I responded on 1/4/24 with photos of my dress. Sarah responded to me on 1/10/24 to let me know that she will not be taking our photos due to "personal reasons" because she was in Egypt and was headed to Europe so she wouldn't be back on time. She informed me that she had another photographer, her friend, Sandra, and that she could shoot our special day. You can only imagine how I felt reading this message 6 days b4 my wedding. Also, not to be petty but she didn't apologize when she cancelled. I went on her IG and saw she was in Egypt/Europe having the time of her life. Eating and sharing lovely photos of her on vacation with her man while I'm at work freaking out wondering who is going to capture the most important day of my life. I was irate to say the least. She sent me a few photos that Sandra has done for her, they were mid. They were definitely not worth $3,000. There was no mention of a discount or anything of the sort. We were desperate we were just going to go with Sandra, but Sarah was unresponsive. I ended up finding Sandra via Google. I contacted her since Sarah wouldn't give me her contact info. Sandra was rude and stated that it's unprofessional for us to talk without obtaining confirmation from Sarah first, which is laughable. I explained the situation and she wasn't even a bit empathetic or understanding. Sarah was not responding to me. I had a friend of mine reach out to Sandra via IG to ask for her pricing and low and behold, Sandra charges $1,800 for the same package. Photos, editing, and 2nd location. So, if I'm doing the math correctly, Sarah was going to walk away with at least $1,200 for what? Her editing? She was going to charge me $3,000 for a $1,800 photographer. Make it make sense. On 1/13/24 (3 days b4 my wedding), I requested a refund and went on IG to find a new photographer. It was so stressful, I was saddened by this situation. I'm just curious, why this person didn't let me know with time so I could find a replacement. She asked me for photos of my dress, knowing this whole time she was about to be in Egypt lol. Don't be fooled by the whole "I got someone for you" tactic, no, read your contract and don't be afraid to stand up for yourself. I found an amazing photographer for literally $2100 less than Sarah. It ended up working out for us and we had an amazing day. Do with this information what you will but just know, this could happen to you. read more
