Specialties
My specialties are counseling adults of all ages (from college-aged to elders) who are experiencing a medical illness, grief, loss, and/or trauma, and supporting family caregivers taking care of a sick or elderly loved one, as well as health care professionals. I have extensive experience counseling adults who are coping with a diagnosis of cancer, HIV/AIDS, an organ transplant, other chronic illnesses or disabilities. I also use my assessment and writing skills to provide through psycho-social evaluations to support immigration cases. I have locations in the Brookland and Dupont Circle neighborhoods. I look forward to hearing your story.
Meet the Business Owner: Sara K.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with 15+ years experience working with diverse clients in Washington, D.C. I've completed training in grief and loss counseling, Imago Relationship Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the neurobiology of trauma, palliative care advocacy, spiritual care, mindfulness techniques, psycho-social evaluations for immigration cases, and holistic end-of-life care. Prior to starting my practice, I worked in teaching hospitals, a comprehensive cancer center, a large non-profit hospice and palliative care organization, and in community mental health. I strive to be warm, affirming, and culturally sensitive, and I am personally rooted in a desire for social justice. When I am not with my clients or my family, I am a busy activist and volunteer in the gun violence prevention movement, in my faith community, and at my daughter's school. I have two office locations: in Brookland, at the Franciscan Monastery, and in Dupont Circle, at the Viva Center.
