Not only is Dr Babich an extraordinary dentist, she is compassionate and kind when providing care to neurodivergent children. She took her time and explained everything to my son before she did it, and she was able to make him feel comfortable during some difficult moments. My son has sensory differences, and I was anxious about his first appointment at this dentist because he had struggled in the past. Had I known about Dr Babich, I would have come years earlier! Her website represents a COMPLETELY different dentist! ZERO warmth, ZERO personality... it was my daughter's first time at the dentist (3 years old) and she barely said hello to her. She gave zero energy in making this experience a welcoming one. My poor daughter is crying her eyes out while her teeth are being brushed with 'chocolate' toothpaste (which my daughter later told my wife and I she hated... wonder why she was crying? Hmm). She told my wife and i she had no cavities and no tartar... the only good part of the visit. No pep talk to get to know my daughter, no friendly banter back and fourth to distract her, nothing in the took to make it look less like an adult's dentist experience (minus the tv above the chair and a cheesy pair of sunglasses). If you just read her website, you'll think she's this bubbly, warm, down to Earth human being. I walked out of there knowing her as a cold,introverted hipster ("don't let her drink from a straw; bad for the environment"). Find another dentist for your kid. read more

I've known Dr. Sara for years. Before I moved away from New York she provided dental services for my kids. She is warm, kind, funny and quirky, but best of all she is a consummate professional. After my son saw Dr. Babich today for his routine checkup, I glanced at the Yelp reviews out of bored curiosity and was horrified at the review posted by Matt K. It prompted me to do something I have perhaps unfortunately never done before, post a review of a doctor. ======================== Dr. Sara Babich is an amazing children's dentist. I base this on a few things. [1] my experience with my father who was a children's dentist for almost 40 years. Of course my three brothers and I got to experience firsthand his dentistry. I have no cavities except a tiny one acquired in my late 20s. [2] Dr. Babich's interaction with my son since elementary school [ he is now 16] and the results of her dentistry on my son. She has consistently achieved perfect results, not merely from routine checkups and work on my son, but perhaps more importantly in resolving perfectly quite a few seemingly unusual emergency situations such as teeth coming in the wrong direction, a tooth broken from biting on a water bottle cap; you get the idea. In each emergency scenario, Dr. Babich fit him into her schedule, even once opening up the office just for him since it was an emergency. ================================== Back to Matt K's poor review. I have no idea who this is and I have no doubt that his 3 year old daughter did not enjoy the experience. BUT it seems obvious that Matt K is not a wise parent. From what he says, my hypothesis [ and you should decide for yourself after looking at his review] that any issues his daughter had would most likely have resulted from the way he has brought up his daughter. On what basis, you ask probably, do I conclude this? First, instead of criticizing things which are relevant, he says that Dr. Babich gave his daughter " a CHEESY PAIR OF SUNGLASSES." That immediately made me question everything else he said because this is objectively a stupid, juvenile remark. Even if the dad thought they were 'cheesy', that does not mean that almost every 3 year old didn't love them, including his own daughter. Perhaps he requires that his daughter get Prada or Tiffany sunglasses? This seems to be a minor point but in reality it reveals the strong likelihood that he is just looking to criticize Dr. Babich because his daughter cried at meeting Dr. Babich for the first time. In terms of "friendly banter", Dr. Babich overflows with it. Even if she didn't at this girl's visit, there is an awesome TV which is mobile and moves to any location, even when lying down, with amazing cartoons with countless choices to distract a child. My guess is that the father did not prepare his daughter to see this new dentist by doing and saying the things which are obvious to all wise parents. Did it ever cross his mind also to perhaps say the things that he personally knows soothe his daughter if by some chance [ which I doubt] Dr. Babich did not? We all know people who have issues of which they are not aware and they pass on to their children. I must admit that I strive to be a better parent all of the time and I am far far from perfect and have made and will continue to make countless mistakes in raising my son. I suspect Matt K thinks he is an amazing dad with no issues. Second, Matt K did happen to surprisingly note that his daughter's visit had some good news - no cavities and no tartar. Third, Matt K again reveals his lack of parenting wisdom when he notes that his daughter later said that she did not like the chocolate toothpaste Dr. Babich used. I must admit that it is a bit unclear from his review whether it was the chocolate or the fluoride which his daughter did not like. If his daughter does not like chocolate, he should have said so because Dr. Babich has LOTS of flavors and asks the child to choose. Also, it was NOT toothpaste Dr. Babich probably used; we all know that a dentist at this type of checkup uses FLUORIDE, not toothpaste as he seems to have thought. Any child or adult who likes fluoride is probably objectively a mutant. Matt K's child was normal and did not apparently like fluoride. Good dentists and good doctors in general can sometimes be hard to find. Dr. Babich is not just a great dentist. I would not change any aspect of any of the countless visits my son has had over the years. I will admit that the different types of tinted colored glasses Dr. Babich offered my son over the years were cheesy but he liked them and my only regret is that she didn't offer me a pair too. Anyway, hopefully Matt K will read these comments, get mad at me, and then show these remarks to his wife who will then soothe his ego and then quietly bring their daughter back to Dr. Babich for the next checkup. read more
