After school and when no events are going on, the locals hit it up and it becomes a kind of informal dog walking area. It's fully fenced. Not school property. It's adjacent to school property. There isn't a big emphasis on the things that make most other high schools toxic environments (e.g. "popular kids", clicks, and the generalized acceptance of bullying/dehumanizing behavior.) They offer a wide array of AP classes that one can take starting freshman year, and tons of other accessible opportunities in sports and engineering design in general (their robotics club is free, open to all, and EPIC.) There is some trouble in the math department, which is unfortunate, but hopefully this will be changing soon.

My son skipped 8th grade before attending THS it left him struggling in 9th grade math last year…read more After school meetings we came up with plans. This year they didn't use the plan & talked him into a school change to Phoenix High. They knew I was against it so they didn't involve me. I did my research, they have been lying. It's a continuation school. Great Schools says 98% of THS students go to college but remember.. They kick out kids they have to spend time teaching. It's discrimination They only care about ranks & keeping numbers up. Kids who bring numbers down get moved to continuation school. I hung up on her when she lied saying it's not a continuation school. She retaliated by sending the police to my house that night. She reported my son said he felt unsafe at home but he wasn't at school that day! My son is 5" taller than me & works out daily. I'm a 50 year old permanently disabled single mom. I go to school meetings with a cane. They are well aware of my physical limitations. This is a disgusting display of retaliation for being confronted and caught in lies fueled by discrimination

The only thing that bothered me is their irrational decision-making process. The acoustics in the building are so atrocious that, if there's music in one event room, people can't hear the speaker or each other in the other gathering room. So I found some clean, undamaged foam boards and asked whether they'd like them. They said yes, and I brought them in to cover the glass door to one of the rooms. Then someone they'd known longer came along and opined that SEEING styrofoam would cause people to buy it, and they threw it into the dumpster. So now they still have rotten sound, and those foam boards will be leaching toxins into the ground until Earth falls back into the sun.

If you had to go to the bathroom you would be escorted by the principal and the principal will wait in front of your stall. They don't even have and school officers because they refuse to pay for them. I heard from someone that a person threatened them with a pocket knife during school and pushed it up against their side and made them sit next to them the whole day. About a month after I left I heard on the news that a kid brought a knife to school and charged another kid with it. I never went back ever again.

The campus is spacious and attractive. The teachers & staff are very caring and concerned for the children's well-being. Academics are strong, but the focus is not only on academics but on all aspects of a child's well-being. Like many other Christian-based schools, service is a strong area of focus. The level of parental involvement is high, as well. High school is even more unique due to the broad range of activities that the students can get involved in. We were very pleased that our children had opportunities to be involved in Student Leadership, Varsity Sports, Drama, Mission Trips, Publications, Music, and many other extracurricular activities. If you're looking for a new school it would definitely be worth touring this campus!
