I am not from the area, nor am comfortable just going into a random store to ask for quarters. I just drove 1200 miles. The 100% satisfaction guarantee doesn't apply to even simple change. To top it off, my door latch has issues; to the point of working about 1 in 10 attempts. Key card works, but the latch isn't catching to open the door. So now, my clothes are in a washer that I can't use whilst i wait for Maintenance that is not located on site. Understandable, since it's 550pm, but I cannot get into my room. Room isn't fixed; I have to lift the latch a certain way til check-out. As for the quarters, the local gas station said no and that this isn't the first time someone from the hotels have asked. So here I am, a POC in a rural town, driving around, not from here, after a 1200 mile journey, looking for quarters. Hampton, live up to the satisfaction guarantee so a Gold HH guest doesn't have to feel so uncomfortable. Ill be traveling around 60 nights next year, so lets hope the Hampton brand (which is most common in areas I travel through) has more prepared locations. Ill be back thru town in 2 weeks. No sleep there. Upstairs Godzilla rented a room and was up at 5 am. No sleep there. Breakfast, no bacon, no eggs, just sausage and take your own waffles. Bad coffee. When I mentioned the noise to the front desk, the girl said, "Awwww".

Traffic drives quality, and low traffic is usually met with an appropriate level of accommodations. Kim's Cottage is a diamond in the rough: old school downtown main drag, commercial storefront, repurposed with quaint, homey cottage style dwellings inside. Adorned with antique bedding, bedside-bench & credenza, my cottage (#1) had unique charm with vintage touch. While I didn't partake in the amenity, my room featured a decent jacuzzi tub as well. Where the Best Western down the road may offer a continental breakfast, Kim's Cottage had a lovely spread of cereal and breakfast bars, generously available for consumption in my room, on-demand, day or night. I truly appreciate the accommodation! The bathroom was clean and again, featured homey details. Just felt "more friendly" than a cold hotel room. Fresh towels, actual shampoo & body wash I'd want to use, and even a stash of fresh q-tips. I found Kim's Cottage courtesy of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, while shopping for a hotel for a pending business trip and couldn't be happier with the recommendation. Weather had been bad all the way up from Texas and back and we'd been booking last minute cheapest rooms, but I wanted his last night on the road to be special because it had been such an arduous trip. He really liked it but felt it was too "frilly" for his comfort. He's kind of a bull in the china shop type guy. But he went on and on about how much I would have loved it, and how fun it was that the suites were built as separate cottages inside of the historic building. The hosts were very nice. And he loved the hot tub and didn't want to leave it. He said there was also a performance theatre next door, also owned by Kim's family. All in all, well worth it to stop and stay at Kim's.

The breakfast was pretty decent, but it ends at 900am. The staff have been really decent, but Noemi at the front desk was a rock star. I was having issues with a work-related item, and she went above and beyond to assist me. Even offering up her own laptop to help me out. Make sure you avoid their office workspace, since nothing there works. The staff have known about the lack of working computers and printers and have done nothing to fix it in the last six months. The computers are antiques and they know that, but yet do nothing to rectify the issue. Considering there are alot of persons staying here, they need this service. Just be aware that there is no food or bar at this hotel, and the town has very few choices for meals (Pizza Hut and a McDs ) The room was clean but out dated.

WHY would I give this place a 5-star rating? I mean after all it is just a very basic old-fashioned…read moremotel way off the road in a small town in Oklahoma's panhandle. There are only a handful of rooms and they are basic and not fancy. This motel earned a high rating not on visibly comparing it to some fancy hotel in a big city but for living up to the meaning of what the word hotel "hospitality" is all about. Our stay wasn't by choice. We experienced not one but two blown tires on the highway about 20 miles out of town on a day when the temperature plummeted 50 degrees in a couple of hours. We were stranded for almost 8 hours with almost non-existent cell service and a bad experience with AAA who wouldn't send a repair truck. Through the kindness and hard work of OHP dispatch we were finally able to get a lift to town by a local officer who went so far above and beyond his duty he deserves a medal. He called ahead to motel owner Dan Crocker who got out of bed in the middle of the night to drive over to the motel to check us in. We were cold and tired and our prospects were bleak getting our truck repaired so we could continue on our way. It is evident that Dan and his wife Lynda put a lot of work into remodeling and fixing up this motel after they bought it. While not fancy, what they offer is a clean, comfortable and reasonably priced place to stay. Being away from the highway means no road noise, just a lot of fresh air. And unlike some "brand name" motels, everything works including the wifi. The next morning, still faced with a broken down truck stranded up the road Lynda was more than generous in helping us get to the Laverne Farmers Coop where we were treated like family and were able to get two brand-new tires installed. The people of Laverne, including Dan and Lynda Crocker helps us make the best of an unpleasant experience and look back with appreciation of what the word hospitality is all about.
