This business has really stepped up its game for the excellent. Number one, Jennifer Jordan, PA, has returned. Front office staff are beyond friendly. I watch the medical staff call patients back and everyone seems so friendly. Daniella was amazing both times I interacted with her. Dr. Lain is excellent and very informative. Charlie, the radiology tech is super sweet, very gentle and easy to talk to. My son saw Patrick Miller, PA, and had great things to say about him as well. On point customer service here. As a retired RN, customer service and patient satisfaction are key to a great operation and Sanova Dermatology has it all! read more

Review for Sonova Dermatology in Pflugerville, TX I will never recommend this establishment after the experience I had recently. As the dr was getting ready to leave he said I needed to come back for the PDT. I had no idea what he was talking about, so I asked the MA. She said it was a procedure to clear up pre-cancers on my face. They would put some medicine on and then treat it with light, and I would need to wear sunscreen and avoid the sun for the next couple of days. The dr never discussed all the other options that would also do the same thing. In fact, I wasn't told all the possible reactions I might experience. The day of the exam the young man explained he would clean my face and then the dr would come in and sand it where it was needed. Then he would put the cream on, and I would be given goggles and sit under a light. I had used a different method in the past but that was never offered and I would have done that one gladly. After the procedure when my face was burning-due to cleaning it prior with acetone, put the medicine on which also burned after having it sanded and then sitting under a light, he used alcohol to clean my face and take the medicine off. I was at this time in a lot of pain to the level of 9-10! The pain only got worse and my BP went up to 197/98. The next morning my face was swollen, and beet red. I couldn't open my mouth very far and it was just getting worse. I called the office back and was put on a steroid for 2 days and an antihistamine. I only ever heard back from then after I would send another note to them on the patient portal. I ended up peeling 4 layers off and open sores in some areas. I wouldn't wish this procedure to anyone! read more

I love Dr. Lain and his staff (especially Charlie, the radiology tech) but their billing department is the worst. I had a payment plan for my treatment (which I was to pay in full since I was paying out of pocket) and, even though it is fully paid off, I am receiving bills for close to $6000. The billing department (an outside company) said there is nothing they can do to adjust the amount. I am livid given I have excellent credit and explained to them that this was fraud and I would report it to the BBB. read more

I wish there was zero stars for this place. I was told I couldn't make an appointment with my insurance until I got a PCM referral. I made an appointment with my PCM, got a referral, and sent it to Sanova Dermatology. They told me it has to be reviewed before I can make an appointment. OK, I waited. I finally made an appointment for the following month. I received a text message to call them because they can't accept my insurance on Friday, and my appointment is following Monday. I could find other doctors a month ago if they told me they can't take my insurance. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL read more

Incredibly disappointed. I went a few times for laser hair removal in 2021 and took my son for dermatology appointments and purchased some products in early 2023. Paid everything in full and should be fine, right? Never received any additional bills or phone calls but now am getting texts indicating I have a past due account and they've TRIED to reach me but now it will be sent to collections? Clearly, I call the numbers they provided on the text...they have no record of me. I am logged into the portal on my side (with no overdue or unpaid bills) and yet their billing department has no record of me at all and just tells me to disregard that messaging. I might add it took me 2 days to even get a hold of a human on the numbers they provided. This isn't okay and they need to get their billing together if they're reaching out to customers telling them they're sending nonexistent bills to collections! I might add that before all this, I did try and schedule a full body scan a month or so ago to ensure I didn't have any questionable moles or signs of skin cancer. Called with my new insurance info (still BCBS, different employer) and they indicated all was fine. Waited weeks to get in and finally show up where they asked to make a copy of my insurance card. A few minutes later, front desk girl calls me up to the front where she explains I can only use my insurance in Illinois, as that's where my BCBS is from. (!) Listen, I've been a remote worker for years and my BCBS was from Maryland when you last covered me! At least just say you're out of network if that's the case (which I would understand and why not tell me when I called with it?) and not...I have to use it in a different state. I made an appointment at a different Austin dermatologist that (shockingly) takes my "Illinois" insurance. read more

Rude and impatient front desk workers, uninformed on policies and insurance information, prices recently increased too.

Jennifer Jordan is wonderful! She probably saved me from skin cancer when I first started seeing her in my 20s. I've been trying to use the online shopping portal lately, and there are errors all around - many of the promotions they advertise don't apply properly, so you have to be very careful and pay attention. If you call into the actual dermatology office to get help, they know nothing about the portal and will send you to their Marketing Specialist who will tell you he doesn't handle website errors and will send you to to online store support. Online Store Support can only do so much - for instance, if you're buying one of the bundles + subscribe & save promotions, the bundle promotion will fall off. There is no notification of this, so you just have to hopefully catch the error in your total. Tricky. When bringing this to online support, they will reply and confirm that this happens but do not fix the issue. They have been able to help with errors in not receiving free shipping as advertised, discounts not applying, etc; however, it took me 2 weeks to get to the right person (multiple times was told that someone would call me back and so on before I finally got to the marketing specialist who sent me to online support), so I just purchased elsewhere. Most recently, I got an order confirmation for an order I didn't place - I'm assuming this was from one of the subscribe & save items I had ordered; however, I wasn't due for another order for several months. Online support was able to cancel the order, but part of the point of a subscription order is the convenience factor - this was NOT convenient. Lastly, when I was trying to then manage my subscriptions, you're not able to easily manage each individual item as they're all lumped together with the original purchase. Unfortunately I had ordered several items, and they all wont need to be replenished at the same time. Moreover, you'll also want to beware of shipping as subscriptions still require minimum thresholds to receive free shipping. This almost makes the subscription savings null in many cases. Overall, I've had great experience with Jennifer Jordan and really appreciate the care she provides. I do plan to continue seeing her for my skincare needs. That said, this online shopping experience has left A LOT to be desired. I like to purchase my skincare products from the dermatologist to ensure it's authentic and not expired, but I'll likely have to cancel all my subscriptions from Sanova and purchase them elsewhere. read more

We t in for possible basil cell/skin check.The area was first cultured to make sure it was not an infection.Waited a week,had to call for my results.Not infection,need to biopsy for basil cell.Wait a week,no call,called office. "Yes,it's a basil cell you need to come in to have it removed." Nota chance not going there to do it.A week later I get served with the results!!! As if it's so important they get them to me now.Then a month later I get additional billing for some extra pathology from them.They are the worst! read more

Dr. Gewirtzman and the staff of Sanova Dermatology is Pflugerville are top notch. I went to at least 6 prior dermatologists with no definitive diagnosis nor treatment. Dr. Gewirtzman's extensive background is clinical research as well as being a brilliant physician provided me with a medical diagnosis and treatment plan. I won't go anywhere else now for my dermatology medical needs. The staff is fantastic as well. I'd give them MORE thank 5 stars if I could! read more

I went in today to get some filler dissolved that was placed incorrectly (by another practitioner) and was about 2 years old. Dr. Lain listened to my concerns and gently & quickly administered the dissolving agent. He also charged me a fraction of price I have been quoted by plastic surgeons to do the same procedure. This is a scam operation disguised as a dermatologist office. They accepted my insurance so I assumed I would just have to pay my copay. I wasn't able to see a doctor, so I had an appointment to see a PA. I paid my copay, saw the PA, no procedures were done, it was just a consultation. Two weeks later, I get a text message from them saying I owed $100. I called to ask why on earth they are charging me $100, and I was told that the "hospital (it's a dermatology office)" charges one copay for the visit, but then the "doctor", who I never saw, charges $100 separately from the "hospital". This was never disclosed to me, nor expected. So even though the "hospital" may take your insurance copay, you will be getting charged separately for seeing someone there. I was forced to pay the $100 after which I immediately cancelled my follow up appointment and told them I wanted nothing to do with them. Hopefully, I won't get some other bogus charge and if I do, I'm contacting the AG's office. Avoid this place. read more

I have been seeing Dr Lain for over 12yrs. The past several visits I have been treated rudely by the office check out girl. She has no personality to be working with patients. When I asked about the products she was clueless. You would think at that expense of some of the products she would be a bit more helpful. My last annual checkup I saw the PA. I've always seen Dr Lain and would have rescheduled. I showed up a day early, my mistake but I just needed the stitches removed. Being a patient for all these yrs and referring several friends. I thought they could accommodate me. I drove 30 min for this appointment. After 20min waiting and hearing whispering I asked "any news" the rude one replied we're still waiting. At that point I said forget it. I'll have my husband remove. I'm so disappointed in how sanova dermatology has become. I will never recommend this place again and I will find a new dermatologist. So sad they don't care about long time patients. They also never answer the phone. BTW the rude one never canceled my appointment for today. I just got a reminder. After their recent move, Sanova and Dr. Lain need some improvement. I have (twice now), signed a statement stating the cost of the procedure I was about to receive. The note gave a minimum and a maximum ($500-$750 if I recall correctly). I asked the person who gave me the paper to explain it and she said just that: this was the range of the procedure. They'd be able to give a more exact amount once the doc did the procedure and coded it, but under no circumstances would it be outside this range. I agreed, signed the paper, and got the procedure done. When the bill arrived I was charged $300 more. No explanation, no reference to the paper I had signed. When I wrote them a letter asking for a reason they completely ignored me an sent a more strongly worded bill, emphasizing that they would turn it over to a collection agency if I did not pay. I reluctantly did. The same thing happened (albeit on a smaller scale) just today. I had already paid in full and was told that my bill was settled, then I got a "follow up bill" for extra charges. Since the bills come out of their central office (not their Pflugerville one), and since I have already been ignored there, I'm at a loss as to what to do. It's frustrating since I genuinely like Dr. Lain, but this is making me reluctant to go back. I won't say don't go, but I will say to expect ongoing payments that are more than they say they will be, as well as mysterious charges that you can't get explained. Dr. Lain had a great bedside manner and was very helpful in finding other resources to obtain my prescriptions since I do not have insurance. I visited the center for a medical opinion of an issue I was having. I'll have to see if the treatment works before updating my review. However, I can say that I was seen over 40 minutes past my appointment time and everyone was complaining in the waiting room. When the doctor came he was very young and personable. He was also quick to diagnose and seemed very confident (okay it read a little cocky but if you're good at what you do, it's understandable) and knowledgeable. I will say that his diagnoses was like dropping a bomb on me and I felt like he could have been a little more smooth and gentle with that part. Otherwise, he was very nice and I liked his staff. I think once they get into a routine they will improve on the timing and delivery of diagnoses. BTW, at the moment they are only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-5. read more

I went there the for the first time for a lump on my back and to have a full body screening . The ladies at the front desk were sweethearts and Dr. Jordan was awesome. She Removed a skin tag on my right eye lid with no pain . She did let me know I'd have to make another appointment to come back to remove the cyst on my back she explained to me the procedure and was very thorough. Went back in a couple weeks had the cyst removed with no pain wasn't uncomfortable at all. Dr Jordan told me what I need to do so don't get infected. They were absolutely awesome Dr. Jordan and her nurse I would highly recommend Sanova and Dr. Jordan. read more

I have been here a couple of times. Both times they were able to get me in within days and the wait time in the office was under 5 minutes. The office is clean and beautiful and everyone here is so nice. I never had any problems with insurance billing (which can be a pain at some health care providers) and I have never felt rushed. The dermatologist was very thorough and seemed quite knowledgeable. I had a biopsy done and she was very gentle, knowing that I am afraid of needles (they use a needle to numb). My results came back quickly too (benign). Love them! read more

Sanova is false advertising the promotions. During the Beaty Expo I attended Photofacial webinar where Sanova expressed that promotion prices apply to all areas of the body. I even asked a question to confirm. However, after I called Pflugerville location, I was said that back area doesn't qualify. Steiner Ranch location said that promotion is good for all body areas and I was about to book the treatment. However, the next day Steiner Ranch declined the promotion prices. Terrible front desk customer service. I went for my appointment and the lady at the front desk told me that she had tried to call me to let me know that I needed a referral from my primary doctor. She wanted to make sure she had the right phone number. I said she had the right phone number because I received a text with the appointment details. She didn't say anything about that and just told be that she will be cancelling my appointment and that I needed to call back when I had my Doctor's referral. Very rude and needless to say, I will never make an appointment with them. Too bad I never got to meet Dr. Lain. I rather go to a place with good customer service. read more

I went back since they are so close and am extremely happy with the results. I actually thought the doctor was so brief with me because of my previous review on here, but reading the other reviews was enlightening. I guess that's just how he is. He was in and out with me in 15 minutes and I had a procedure done that left 16 holes in my face and plenty of blood. He called someone else in to help stop the bleeding because he had to go. I also did have to wait for over 30 minutes after they told me the doctor was running on time. Everyone was extremely nice and the doctor recommended I buy one of the face cleaning brushes they sell and I did and am really happy with the results here as well. read more

I have gone to Dr. Lain for almost a year now. He treated my son for his acne and he has seen great improvement. I have ongoing skin issues with eczema, rosacea, and dermatitis. I can't say enough about the staff at Pflugerville Dermatology! I took my 4 year old daughter there after she split her chin open and an Urgent Care center completely botched an attempt to glue the cut back together. The glue was all over her chin and the wound wasn't completely closed. I exchanged messages with Dr. Lain and he agreed that the wound was not closed properly and should be sutured. It was so nice that Dr. Lain took the time to review my case and make a recommendation. Jennifer, Dr. Lain's Physician Assistant (PA) and Jessica, her assistant were amazing. My daughter was understandably scared but from the minute they entered the room they addressed her by name and made her feel very comfortable, asking lots of questions about favorite activities, colors and Disney characters. Jennifer first looked at the cut and assured me that if we wanted to leave it alone, it wasn't terrible and would heal. But she also agreed it could have been done better, and agreed as a mom herself that she would like to see it repaired more cleanly. I really appreciated this personal recommendation, it made me feel comfortable knowing I wasn't putting my daughter through an unnecessary procedure. Jennifer explained everything to my daughter at a level she could understand. They let her lie in my lap on the chair and hold her stuffed animal and blanked. The also explained everything they were doing step by step. My daughter was such a trooper but I credit all of it to how comfortable Jennifer and Jessica made her feel. Great experience overall. Very friendly staff all around. I was a new patient so I had to fill out paperwork which is never fun, but the whole appointment was real efficient. By the time I finished filling out my paperwork I was being called back, and hardly waited in the room for the doc. The doctor was thorough and very knowledgeable. My concerns were addressed and even got some cosmetic help. As a modest man I was uncomfortable with the whole cosmetic idea but Dr Lain made me super comfortable.
