Ms. Larrier was very professional and her empathy towards her patients health issues was amazing. Yes!! I'm a 40+ woman who's body is in worst shape than some of these vibrant, full of life seniors I had to hop pass trying to find my way to the pool area. Yes! I said hop.... Geesh! go figure. Heck they where looking at me as though they wanted to ask if they could help me. Unfortunately today was just a medical visit. While hopping around (LOL!) I did noticed how elegant and huge the Sterlings Estate is. It has a very welcoming entrance with whom I believe maybe a concierge to help you with what your looking for or answer any questions you may have. Today was a nice gentleman standing in waiting. Again looking at me like..... he was waiting for me ask to be pointed in the direction of my grandmother or something. NOPE!!!! He was polite with telling me the way to my destination. The Sterlings has a grand dining area with plenty of seating. I noticed also they have what looked like a coffee area, wellness center and plenty more activities for the seniors in your life to enjoy. I'm here today to get the full benefits of their heated salt water pool. The Sterlings offer Aqua therapy for people who don't live on campus. My health insurance had them on the list of places to choose from. I chose The Sterling Estates, because I have driven pass about 4 times and thought to myself.... Those look like a nice community for my mom or great aunt to live. Not knowing I will be the one visiting before them. But a least I had the pleasure of seeing what little of the community I could see. And I can say it was a memorable one.

They absolutely need better top staff members. Never try to reach the "nurse". She is unavailable by phone. They seemed to be really on top of things prior to our actual move in. Not the case at this point. The actual facility certainly needs a face lift. There are no automatic doors to the interior garden and patio area. Thus, if you are in a wheelchair you are not going out without help. If you decide to dine in your room, your meal is brought to you in a styrofoam box at the end of the meal service in the dining room. So you are going to get your meal an hour later. Oh great, almost in time for you to go for the next meal. I will not go on. Most of the residents are happy there. But, let's be real. Change is hard enough who is going to move again?

My Mom has lived there for over 2 years following several hospitalizations for heart attacks and…read moreheart failure. She has thrived there. It's a lovely environment. She likes the food and the other residents. The nursing staff is very attentive, and she regularly participates in several of the many daily activities, enjoying the entertainment. She does have personal assistance due to her decreased independence, but the regular staff there is very good.

We are so pleased with Berman Commons specifically because of the wonderful caring staff and their adapting to each residents personal situation. In addition, the activities are abundant and varied. The nursing staff goes to great concern to involve each of the residents into these activities according to their abilities and desire. The general staff and management is fully involved with the patients and their families- knowing their needs even though there are many residents in both independent and memory care living. I have been at Magnolia for 2 1/2 years and I have had an overall positive experience. I came in,…read morewheelchair bound and within a year (with therapy) I graduated to a walker and now I am completely independent. I walk and do all the steps every morning and in good weather, I walk outside. I also use the elliptical machine in the fitness room a couple of times a week. The staff have been very kind and the administration has responded to specific concerns of mine and residents as a whole. My book club enjoys coming here monthly for our meetings.

But let me tell you, they will not even do the bare minimum that is part of the rental contract because they are always "under-staffed". The weekly cleanings, laundry and sheet changes do not happen regularly if at all! If and when they do clean, it's mediocre at best. The food is inedible. Several occasions they lost our family members medications and spent days trying to locate them while she was left without her diabetic monitors among other crucial medications. And you will be charged a ridiculous amount for a "care plan" and within weeks to months they will do another assessment without any communication and double the monthly care plan, this is how they make their money. Charging lower rent and ridiculous amounts for "care plans" that are bogus and unwarranted. AND, they won't even do the additional items they claim they need assistance with like showering and dressing. and God help your loved one if they push the "panic button" they are given to wear around their neck because they have an emergency, the staff is not coming to help at any type of pace that would be acceptable in a true emergency. I could go on forever about the unscrupulous practices happening in the place. The management team, accounting and care team will not respond to emails and will hide from you in their offices. Absolute incompetence. Stay away, so many other great options in this area of town.
