Ms. Larrier was very professional and her empathy towards her patients health issues was amazing. Yes!! I'm a 40+ woman who's body is in worst shape than some of these vibrant, full of life seniors I had to hop pass trying to find my way to the pool area. Yes! I said hop.... Geesh! go figure. Heck they where looking at me as though they wanted to ask if they could help me. Unfortunately today was just a medical visit. While hopping around (LOL!) I did noticed how elegant and huge the Sterlings Estate is. It has a very welcoming entrance with whom I believe maybe a concierge to help you with what your looking for or answer any questions you may have. Today was a nice gentleman standing in waiting. Again looking at me like..... he was waiting for me ask to be pointed in the direction of my grandmother or something. NOPE!!!! He was polite with telling me the way to my destination. The Sterlings has a grand dining area with plenty of seating. I noticed also they have what looked like a coffee area, wellness center and plenty more activities for the seniors in your life to enjoy. I'm here today to get the full benefits of their heated salt water pool. The Sterlings offer Aqua therapy for people who don't live on campus. My health insurance had them on the list of places to choose from. I chose The Sterling Estates, because I have driven pass about 4 times and thought to myself.... Those look like a nice community for my mom or great aunt to live. Not knowing I will be the one visiting before them. But a least I had the pleasure of seeing what little of the community I could see. And I can say it was a memorable one.

They absolutely need better top staff members. Never try to reach the "nurse". She is unavailable by phone. They seemed to be really on top of things prior to our actual move in. Not the case at this point. The actual facility certainly needs a face lift. There are no automatic doors to the interior garden and patio area. Thus, if you are in a wheelchair you are not going out without help. If you decide to dine in your room, your meal is brought to you in a styrofoam box at the end of the meal service in the dining room. So you are going to get your meal an hour later. Oh great, almost in time for you to go for the next meal. I will not go on. Most of the residents are happy there. But, let's be real. Change is hard enough who is going to move again?

I walk and do all the steps every morning and in good weather, I walk outside. I also use the elliptical machine in the fitness room a couple of times a week. The staff have been very kind and the administration has responded to specific concerns of mine and residents as a whole. My book club enjoys coming here monthly for our meetings.

Several occasions they lost our family members medications and spent days trying to locate them while she was left without her diabetic monitors among other crucial medications. And you will be charged a ridiculous amount for a "care plan" and within weeks to months they will do another assessment without any communication and double the monthly care plan, this is how they make their money. Charging lower rent and ridiculous amounts for "care plans" that are bogus and unwarranted. AND, they won't even do the additional items they claim they need assistance with like showering and dressing. and God help your loved one if they push the "panic button" they are given to wear around their neck because they have an emergency, the staff is not coming to help at any type of pace that would be acceptable in a true emergency. I could go on forever about the unscrupulous practices happening in the place. The management team, accounting and care team will not respond to emails and will hide from you in their offices. Absolute incompetence. Stay away, so many other great options in this area of town.

He has such a huge spirit, he is the life of the party and he is super active and social. But it seemed that the other facilities were either independent senior living OR full nursing care. "There's GOT to be something in between that offers a range.. something beautiful?? YES! There is! THIS IS IT! Live music every week, happy hour, an elegant dining room where he can sit and chill with his friends and laugh... and he laughs a lot! He loves it at The Orchard! It's the answer to our prayers for the place we'd been dreaming of!

I had a…read morefamily member there at roughly the same time her review was written (Fall 2013) and I can say our experience was 100% the opposite. The nurses and staff were caring, accommodating, friendly, and sensitive to the obviously delicate situation. The center itself is warm and friendly, with little nooks and sitting areas, a kitchen, a vast library with books, DVDs, & games, a beautiful chapel, and each guest suite has its own patio - large enough for the patient's bed to be rolled out in nice weather! They don't have specific visiting hours, and all ages (and species if the patient would like to see a pet) are encouraged to visit, as long as all are sensitive to the noise level. I can't imagine a better place for my loved one's final days. This experience ultimately inspired me to become a volunteer there. If you are at the point where you must consider hospice for someone you love, I highly recommend this facility and its amazing staff.

However, there was a significant staff turnover and I think that had a negative impact on the quality of care. My mom was a higher functioning memory care resident and really got lost in the shuffle because her needs were not as great as other residents. She spent most of her time in her room. When I suggested that they could perhaps do more engagement activities that would be suitable for people at her level, the senior management person I spoke with suggested that I consider hiring a caregiver so she could get more attention. I also agree that the food was pretty bad. I moved my mom to a much smaller place that is not as aesthetically pleasing, but where the staff has really gotten to know my mom. The food is better, the room is bigger, the price is cheaper, and most importantly, I don't worry about whether my mom is well cared for when I am out of town.

America's greatest generation deserves better as do their families.

Mom could not be happier as she is very social and loves the multitude of activities. She does not drive anymore, but has plenty of opportunities to go wherever she needs.
