She took a genuine interest in my mother, medically and personally. When my mother died at home at around 1:00 a.m., she came to the house to pronounce her death and assisted with calling the cremation society to have my mother taken to the mortuary. She told us what to expect and was sensitive to my father's feelings about seeing his wife of 71 years leave their home. She was with us throughout this process until 4:00 a.m. in the morning. This place is phenomenal…read more I am so emotional after my business meeting there today that I almost can't take it. My grandmother didn't have that much dementia, but the place where we "placed" her was not nearly as wonderful as this Emeritus location. I think she would have been a great candidate for one of their "wings" - if only she had lived here and not in Rome, maybe we could have had her there. Here's the deal - Emeritus has 11 metro-Atlanta facilities, four that are dementia-specific, so to speak, and over 400 locations nationwide. From meeting with one of the key folks today, and meeting other staff and directors, it is clear that they are committed to the very best in patient care and treatment. Each resident has a nameplate on the door, and a photo/collage type thing next to their door with whatever they feel portrays them best- family pics, notes, etc. Even better, the four "sections" of the facility are decorated like....things that make you happy! My favorite was the "beach" themed room- and the hair salon! In one corner of a wing, they even have an old-fashioned mirror/dressing table and vintage dresses next to it. Wow. Beyond the aesthetics, it was clear that the staff really cares, and that anyone whom I love would be well tended to at this place...I witnessed staffers calling everyone they saw by name, carefully tending to the sofas in the lounge area, checking on people in their rooms or in the common dining area or group activity area. Really, it was - overwhelming. Bob Carr and staff do an incredible job, it seems - if I get totally *out there* one day, for whatever reason, this is the kind of place I would want to be.

2026: When my mother required more help than my Dad could provide, we called and reviewed more…read morethan four hospice companies and were drawn to Dynamic. The marketing person we spoke with several times said, "It's never too early to do the right thing." I've heard with hospice care that it boils down to the people who walk through your door and this was true of our experience too. We were blessed to be assigned Karen who brought with her an abundance of grace, love, and expertise. Similarly, the rest of the staff - Marketing, CNAs, Social Worker, Chaplain, etc all got the thumbs up from Dad who spent the most time with them. He would call each day he got a visit and tell me how each of those who came into his house were exactly what he needed. We didn't need a lot of supplies for our timeline. Hospice seemed equally for us as it was for Mom. Karen and her team relieved the burden of the unknown from us. They walked us through things we could do to to make Mom comfortable. They listened to my Dad's ridiculous stories and jokes and gave him a piece of the love that Mom no longer could. Mom passed in the evening after Karen's shift was done. She came anyway. She sat with us and lifted our spirits for two hours while we waited for Mom to be picked up for her final ride. My Dad told her that she is the hands and feet of Jesus' love. When we're done mourning Mom, we'll likely also mourn the loss of our new friend. She was amazing.
