Plenty of hiking / walking trails. The pool is not heated and we were there early in the season so it was still too cold for us. The hot tub was great, but could use a little TLC. It is plenty big (made by the residents themselves!). I had to rewrite the brakes in our trailer while there and not one person complained, in fact one of the residents lent me some tools! It's a little rustic and could use an infusion of money to improve the maintenance; however all-in-all a great place. Check out the nearby Serpent Mound park! We will definitely stay there again!

We had a private large area by the river where my family swam in every day, there were porta-potties if you needed them (not luxury in any way but we weren't really looking for luxury toilets when we originally brought a "poop bucket" haha!) and they sold firewood on site for dirt cheap if you needed it. In the middle, there was a large open field perfect for stargazing and shooting our bow/arrows (we were alone out there). It was the perfect camping experience with a family. Only downside for me (because I'm a scardy cat) was the drive in from the road. Right smack in the middle of the mountains!

I was so pleased with this campground. 3 people in my party used the bathhouse/showers and raved that they were the cleanest they have ever seen. We stayed in a full hookup RV site and the site was very level. Used only 1 leveler on one side of our travel trailer. We had a 38 foot travel trailer, tow vehicle, 2 SXS, trailer and another tow vehicle with plenty of space. Behind our site was a flowing creek/river, and we were able to open the back window in our bunkhouse to have a nice view. The owners are exceptional and so pleasant. They keep everything maintained and are beyond helpful. Approachable, friendly and always willing to help! I would absolutely recommend this place and will return to this same campground. Access to the trails was very convenient and just over 1/4 mile from the grounds. Both Rockhouse and Buffalo Mountain can be accessed via Devil Anse trail. Very convenient!

Camped here on a Saturday night recently -- I'd rented a cabin in the Gorge and backpacked here…read moreseveral times, but never car-camped. I think I was a little afraid that the campground would be similar to Miguel's -- lots of party-time people and little privacy. However, our small group was pleasantly surprised that many of the sites had their own sense of "place." While few of the sites are completely secluded, they at least have plenty of trees around them to give you a tiny bit of privacy. We got a double-pad site since we had two tents, and this was more than enough room. The pads are very generously sized, so if you have one of those ginormous 8-person tents that are bigger than a Manhattan studio apartment, you should have no issue setting it up. Each site comes with a picnic table (ours had 2 but not sure if that was because it was a double?) and a fire pit. You can purchase wood and ice at the campsite host. There are also some short but fun trails that lead off from Koomer Ridge, and I think at least one connects to the Rough Trail, which is a very long trail going through the Gorge that also lives up to its name. The only downside is you can hear the traffic from the road fairly easy, but giving how close the campground is to the main road, this isn't really surprising. I just figure it's part of the territory with car camping as opposed to backpacking.

Wonderful, spacious sites and nice clean facilities - what more do you really need? The campground is conveniently located near the highway and for short drives to the surrounding area for hiking, sightseeing and whatnot. There is access to at least one cliff trail at several points around the campground, and you're never too far from a pit toilet. But if those aren't your idea of a nice place to do your business, the actual restroom and shower facilities are amazingly clean. My only complaint is that the frogs don't know what "quiet time" means.

So happy we stumbled upon this little campground. Out of all the campgrounds we visited this summer (including Jellystone in Mt. Gilead), this was the kids favorite. I felt safe letting them ride their bikes and play at the playground. It is close to anything you'd need and about a 25 minute drive to Old Man's Cave. We also had a small issue (which turned into a non-issue) in the beginning with someone else plugged into our 30 amp and the lady at the office couldn't have been nicer and took care of everything right away. Great place ride your bikes. Extremely kid friendly. There is a Dollar General walking distance from camp ground, Maybe 200 yard away, The gas station had homemade pizzas & ice cream. We never left the area for 3 nights. It's 30 miles south of I-64 near Ashland Ky. From Lexington it's 4 lane to with in 12 miles from camp ground.... It was sold out the weekend we was there.

Kids liked it, but wasn't what I hoped and more for RV then tent camping PROS: super clean bathrooms, great staff. We had a really bad storm rip through and they have a common area in the store they let us sit in for a good hour. Kids loved the rock slides CONS: overpriced. $32 a night with no inclinement westher policy. I ate the $64 to keep kids safe and left early on day 1. The water is not fresh Falls water. It's a run off from a creek and not the cleanest. They still hadn't cleaned up the beach and rocks of glass and firework debris from 4th of July so thank goodness we had water shoes. Very nice people and clean facilities but we won't be back.
