Importantly, all campsites were very level, with clearly demarked gravel parking areas (no muddy or uneven sites, and few obstacles for backing in). The sites are all clustered together on one grassy property, so each site is not necessarily secluded. However, save for the neighboring RVs, there certainly aren't many people around. The neighborhood appears to be largely rural, with a few summer homes mixed in. A nice place to take a walk or a jog. The campground itself is right in the bank of the lake, so it would be great for kayakers and canoers.

The sites were not on top of each others. We had plenty of room. It was gravel for the pad and grass everywhere else. They have a very nice campground picnic area and lots of areas to fish. The canoe and paddle boats are free to use. They have created a lot of trails/grass paths where you can walk/play. The park was quiet. But it was a nice mix of kids, seasonals and short timers. If we camped in the Duluth area we would stay here again.

The campsites are spacious and spread out so you can't hear the next campsite. The ranger comes by occasionally but doesn't bother you. Dead wood is abundant in the trees and you are allowed to forage for down dead branches. Fire pits with grates, picnic tables at your campsite and clean pit toilets are located conveniently throughout the campground. Well water is available near the fish cleaning station and there is a dumpster near the exit. I had a wonderful week here and plan to return in the future. Remember if you pack it in pack it out. Leave your campsite better than you found it. I pretty much had the forest to myself during the week.

I'm not super experienced at camping, but the campsites felt quite close together to me. Compared to other places we've been, the sites are much less private. AMENITIES: 5/5 The amount of water spickets and bathrooms around the site were great, and the showers/main bathroom facilities were nice! STATE PARK: 5/5 We loved walking a bit of the state park over the weekend! The suspension bridge is super cool, and it's really fun to walk on and explore the unique rock formations along the water.

The suspension superstructure is carried on massive stone-clad, reinforced-concrete pylons. The bridge is fun to walk on and it has a fascinating and beautiful view of the powerful river. There is also an adjacent resource center which is a beautiful building with great display. Definitely a stop when in Duluth!

Maybe the weather had something to do with it (it was HOT). We accidentally set up in the wrong site - it was a BIG site but was very open and kind of felt like sitting in the middle of your driveway having a fire. (Site 21). The bathrooms/showers were not notch and very clean, seems to be a fairly new building. I had expected the well water to be very iron-y considering the location, but the water was great! The lake is beautiful, the beach was wonderful to cool off in.
