Morack Public Golf Course is a great place for a hit on the weekend (or weekday, if you're lucky…read moreenough to be able to do it), and it's really good to be able to get outside and pretend that I know what I'm doing every time I pick up a golf club. It's an 18 hole course, well kept (especially considering the drought-like conditions of the previous few years) and easy to get to, being just near the Bunnings on Burwood Hwy. There is a driving range near the clubhouse and shop (which is handy, as the old one was on the site that is now the aforementioned giant hardware monstrosity) and there is plenty of parking. Green fees are between $12 and $24, depending on when you play, how many holes you're playing and whether or not you're a junior. All in all, I find it a great way to give my friends an opportunity to mock my terrible golfing performance, and let's face it, if you need to get out of the house, Morack Public Golf Course is a great excuse for some exercise and a catch up with your mates.

With the weather moody and a desire to roll in the next 20 minutes, we found ourselves at the Kingpin Bowling Lounge for a rather expensive yet enjoyable three games of bowling. Kingpin aims at doing a lot of the things that Strike bowling does (serve drinks, have music, and lights on the lanes) but at the same time it is probably more tailored towards families than Strike. The bowling was fun as I hit a rare 150 (I'm a pretty shitty bowler admittedly). Enjoyable times but the lack of specials they offer means it would be an expensive pastime. I guess it is yet another string in Crown's entertainment bow. If in Crown and you feel like bowling, head to Kingpin. Otherwise, I prefer the Strike experience.

And so I found myself at the Middle Park Bowling Club for a friend's birthday; two lanes sequestered just for our party and a cute little function room set aside for food, drinks and merriment. This popular bowling club also has a bar which is ridiculously cheap - I'm guessing this adds to lawn bowls' appeal - alongside not one but three bowling greens which ostensibly accommodate up to 144 people. Both competitive and casual players are welcome and there is a laid back atmosphere to the Middle Park Bowling Club which makes it a great place to while away the day with half of your focus trained on the green and the other on the bar.

At $10 a day for non-members and $50 for a years casual membership, this is honestly the cheapest and best entertainment money can buy. You can also hire out a few greens and bbq's for an event such as a birthday or Christmas party. And by hire I mean you pretty just have to assume them that you'll spend a bit at the bar. They will even put on some 80's disco music on for you later on if you pay them enough.

You just need to convince at least 7 of your best mates or frenemines to join you in a round or two. A group of. 12-16 works best for good ball rotation and player down time. You don't want your players to get ball exhaustion. So you hop in a ball, bounce around and try to score goals while not getting stuck in the turtle position. The field is the average size of a indoor soccer field with appropriate protection for spectators. You don't want to see you friends squished by 16kg of big bouncy ball. A few tips to reminder-wear a tee. Singlets are a great way to get harness burn. Hard to explain to family and friends. Bring water. A lot of water for rehydrating in between rounds. Bouncing around in a giant ball is akin to a gym session wrapped in bubble wrap inside a sauna. So hot stuff. Deodorant will be needed.

Forget any soccer skills that you may have or how fit you are (or think you are) because, when it comes to bubble soccer, everything goes out the window. You can expect 3 things though: - Your knuckles and knees are going to get bruised. - You'll get a good workout, sweat and very likely end up sore. - Most importantly though, you'll have heaps of fun! The other team threw four balls at me all at once, knocked my feet out from under me, and hello sprained ankle! However dodgeball is a lot more fun than I remember too. Tyler, the President of the League, umpires the match with some very upbeat dance tunes, the other players are fit and spunky (and young!) and a good time is had by all. It is useful prior to play at the nearby Sandringham or Cheltenham public courses. I like it mainly for the ability to hit off the grass.
