This library has a lage collection of CD's and DVD's which I know some do not have. Even though it costs 50p to a £1 to get them out, it's still a lot cheaper than buying them. In the last couple of years they have really tried to make the Library a nicer place - they have a lot more activities for children now and they have also put a little cafe in. The availability of computers is also good. I feel this library is accesible to everyone as they have a lift to reach all the levels.

Only members of the University of Cambridge and Academic staff and research students from other universities can use it. Undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from other UK universities can apply to access the Library for reference during Cambridge vacations. Even if you can't get in, it is worth having a wonder round the site to be impressed by the sheer size of it. And why not keep walking and have a look around the Sidgwick site of the University of Cambridge - home to the Arts Faculties of the University.

Actually, if you're cheeky you can go to the Costa Coffee place upstairs and read there. The new library should open in Lion Yard next year. The reason for the delay? Apparently the developers are arguing with the council over whether it should be called 'Cambridge Central Library' or 'Cambridge Library Central.' I sh t you not.

You can also gain access to the internet there for free. You just have to book a time slot to use them. You can also now order books, renew books and manage your account online. When you are in the library, you just ask for a pin for your library card and with this and your library card number you can log on and find out what books you have outstanding, when they need reviewing and as mentioned previously order books. You can also search books, and find out what libraries in the borough have the book you require.

With extra funding from both organisations, around £1.8million will be spent on improving the library. Building work has already begun on the third floor of the library, which means that there is no public access to this floor during the day, so the multifaith room is not available for use. Work begins on the second floor of the library on 17th November, then the whole library will be closed from 25th December 2008 to 20th April 2009, to allow work to be done on the first and ground floors.

If we reserve some books in a few days they will be available. There is a self scaning machine so we can do it if there is a rush on the counter it works neatly. Professional and helpful staff They put the little books author wise. There is wide selection of DVDs and CDs to borrow . There is also internet facility available on first floor for adults and even in kids section. Even photocopier is available in library which is easy to operate of our own. I only live around the corner from this Camden library branch, which is Holly Lodge. And even up to this day, I will always use the services at Highgate Library, for hiring out DVDs, PC printing and the photo copy machine. And I even reserve books and DVD from Highgate Library. Highgate Library is literally right next door to Highgate Cemetery, the place of Karl Marx's tomb.

We would sit in there practically for hours on end reading books, we practically begged our mum to go down there with us so she could let us join the library, she eventually agreed. We would usually get the maximum amount of books out that we were allowed and weirdly enough read them all before the week was up. They have a little table where we would occasionally sit and do our home work. You could loan books, magazines, baby toys and video tapes (probably DVD's now as well). I remember the staff always being really friendly.
