Let me first start off by saying I think most real estate businesses are screwed up. This place was…read moreno different. We went here looking for a house and the next thing we knew we were assigned an agent to help us look. Not that we needed her, we were coming to her with a group of listings we found on the internet and she was just access into the home. Anyway, we were looking at a nice Cape in Selden and after running the numbers and found we could afford it but it was going to be extremely tight. We went ahead and gave an offer. Now this all happened before a home I fell in love with came back onto the market. Our initial offer on this house was rejected because they had already accepted another offer. Of all the houses we saw, this was the ONLY house I set foot into and said "I want this house". Maybe it was the fact it was completely renovated or the 2 1/2 car detached garage with the work area to the side. Anyway the house we were bidding on I had some buyers remorse on and felt I was broke before I ever let a dime come out of the checking account. The original home was going to cost roughly the same amount but was move in condition and had a bit more room. I figured why not, I love the house, why not give it another try? So I tell the agent I want to go after this house we were previously rejected on. The downside was that the house I really wanted was with a different real estate agency - not the Selden Century 21. She hemmed and hawwed for about 15 minutes on the phone with me. I asked her "What's the matter?" to which her reply was "Well, you know the seller is paying my commission". OK - Now I wanted to say "now I know this but who the f$#@k are you? I don't care if God-Almighty himself writes you a check - this is my money we're talking about. I'm the one who is going to be house-poor if I buy the other house trying to fix it up. Screw you and your commission" but all I could muster was "Are you kidding me?" Luckily we found something else with a different agent and all is happy in Yelp-land.

I am a real estate agent who, as of today May 11th 2018, has resigned from C21 Coventry in Selden…read morefor what I believe are not only illegal practices but most certainly are unethical practices and behavior that is completely outside of the rhelm of decency, honor, commitment to appropriate treatment of an agent as a private contractor and actions which are in complete breach of contract. I am writing here FIRST, before moving forward with all of the grievances and complaints I am filing with NAR, the NY DOS, the NYS Licensing Board, the SEC, (yes, they take formal complaints about brokers and other financial institutions/persons), and every single venue I can facilitate to be certain that I am not only vindicated and properly compensated for a commission that was agreed would be FULLY MINE as the seller of MY property; (it was the Estate Sale of my late fiance's home, given to ME in the will), but also as the buyer's agent; as I am the agent who found the buyer for my late fiance's home. The office manager who I believe is an associate broker, and the "mystery" broker who heads the office itself are two of the most unethical people I have ever had the extreme misfortune of meeting. Save for a few individuals in the office, the whole office is filled with an undercurrent of sleazy real estate practices and agents who would slit your throat and steal the rug from under you if they felt they could get away with it undetected. Most people lie down and give up when faced with people who are an abomination and do terrible things to others. I am not one such person and intend to do everything in my power to not only "right this egregious wrong" but make certain that it never happens again. I am going to work toward having the office closed as a means to an end of the unethical practices, the lies and the deceit of those who should not only KNOW better because they have been in the industry for many, many years, but also should DO better simply as human beings!!!!!! I got my real estate license a little over a year ago so that I could sell the home of my late fiance and not pay for an agent to do so. I intended to use the extra money I received as a means to add another member of the family to my late fiance's will as I believed it was the right thing to do. After his death from lung cancer in 2013, I spent 4 and a half years paying the loan of my late fiance's ex wife who never removed herself from the loan while divorcing. I did this in order to keep the death bed promise I made to my beloved as I lay next to him in his bed, two days before his death. He had asked me prior to imminent death, the same things in front of ALL of his children, his brother and sister as well as his father; but this last he asked of me again as he lay dying. He asked me to fulfill his will, pay the beneficiaries and make certain that I kept the house for myself. I promised him that I would. At the time of his death, to my shock, I found out through an independant appraisal that the house was underwater by 56K due to the spending habits of his ex wife, a rapacious woman who never loved or cared for him. I decided that I would take on the burden of bringing the house into the black and then paying it down enough so that when the market pendulum swung in favor of selling, I would be ready and able to keep my promise. As a residuary will, I would only get what was left over after paying the beneficiaries and the remaining mortgage. Being the Executrix of his will, I took my fiduciary responsibilities very seriously and worked hard at finding tenants to rent the house to (there were three sets UGH!) and doggedly paying the mortgage. I had to leave Long Island because I could not afford to stay here as I had not only sold MY home to buy something for us in TN, a place HE wanted to settle in for a year or so in order to be with his children and grand children, but also because we had already moved all of our things to TN just prior to finding out he was dying and the home was already closed and paid for. I lived there for almost 3 years until I was called back to the island because I was told by someone, (I will not disclose her name because she is a member of the family and I would not wish to put her in an uncomfortable position with the family), that my beloved's home had been broken into after the prior tenant's had skipped out owing me 3 months rent; that people were squatting there, using the house for drug use and distribution as well as prostitution. I did NOT expect to find out upon my arrival that it was my late fiance's OWN CHILDREN who had done this "abortion" and that they had done extensive damage to the property. I was forced to sell the remainder of my owner financed loan, which was the reminder of what was left over from the sale of my home in Islip and the purchase of the home in TN, in order to fix the damages and pay for 13 months of mortgage. (I ran out of room. I can't add 2nd review here so I'm posting 2 other location)

He is, without a doubt, the most patient, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented realtor I've ever worked with (and just a lovely person to boot). Roman took the time to truly understand what we were looking for and worked tirelessly to ensure that every option aligned with our needs. He made us feel comfortable and confident at every step - always listening, answering questions with care, and offering practical advice when viewing apartments. When we finally found *our* apartment, he was with us every step of the way, helping us assemble an outstanding team of professionals who made the process seamless. He expertly managed the complex coop application, ensuring that we felt completely organized and prepared at each stage. Having him in our corner when we encountered roadblocks or issues, made the overwhelming moments feel far more manageable. We are incredibly grateful for his guidance in helping us find our forever home and for the team he built around us. I wholeheartedly recommend Roman to anyone searching for an apartment or home (and have already done so multiple times). Do yourself a favor--work with Roman!
