From start to finish Sandoval Concrete did not disappoint. The owner is a licensed bonded contractor. We needed my son's driveway replaced. It was damaged by under ground tree roots and was 6 ft longer off the city street with old pavers on both sides. They did demo removed two large tree branches took out dirt laid gravel compacted ground put in rebar then concrete. They put in the expansion joints needed to keep the driveway from cracking. This review has been a long time coming. I needed to replace my driveway, walkway and front porch. I did a lot of research and received 4 different estimates. Alvaro was quick to provide a written and thorough proposal outlining the cost, materials and scope of work. His price was competitive and I appreciated his patience (lots of it) when explaining the process, options and changes I later requested. His crew worked hard and cleaned up nicely after each days work - I am beyond happy with the result. I asked them to leave a small area in the concrete for a plant and he surprised me by bringing a beautiful lily to put there! one of his workers actually planted it for me! Plus he provided some badly needed backfill to the front lawn area. There are a couple of "buts", isn't there always? I sort of wish I had opted out of the sealer. Even though the stamped concrete has a little texture it is still a bit slippery when it's wet. That isn't their issue but I wanted to note that for anyone on the fence about whether or not to use a sealer. it may get better in time . . . Also, there are two small blotchy areas - one where they patched a small hole and another that looks like something was spilled on it. The areas aren't in the driveway where you might not notice because a car is parked there, no, they are in the middle of the walkway! Alvaro came out twice attempting to repair and suggested we wait and give the colored concrete time to settle. It has been six months but the areas remain blotchy. Alvaro was very responsive and his team completed everything on schedule and I have received many compliments on the patio including other landscape contractors (now doing the rest of the yard). He also accommodated last-second changes like not having a step go all the way around. His workers stepped on some succulents and he gave us a pot of succulents to replace them. We reached out to Sandoval Concrete for a quote to concrete our backyard. Alvaro responded to our request promptly. He came with a measuring tape like all other contractors but what set him apart was the fact that he came with an electric leveling tool that tells us exactly how our yard was sloping. We were very concern as to how the water will drain during the raining reason and many contractors verbally told us how our yard slop but none had the tool to proof it. Sandoval concrete did an amazing job with my concrete!! With Alvaro you get the highest level of attention to detail in his craft and the highest level of customer experience. Sandoval Concrete is a throwback company that truly cares about customer satisfaction. For my project we poured approximately 20 yards of stamped concrete which included a retaining wall. The stamped concrete I wanted to match as much as possible to my existing concrete (the walkway along the house and area adjacent to the turf). Interestingly enough Alvaro did my existing concrete many years ago before I bought the house. He was able to match my existing concrete beyond what I expected. He identified the color and recommended the pattern and joints. I went with that recommendation and could not be more satisfied with that decision. My concrete is jointed in a way that is going to reduce and practically eliminate the risk of cracking in unexpected places. It's done correct with rebar, base rock, and 4 inches of concrete. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. The artificial turf I installed myself. At first I thought the quote was high for the turf but at the time I didn't know the actual cost of material and the level of work that it requires. It took me about two weeks by myself to remove 3-4 inches of dirt, lay out the base, and rollout and install the turf. Having to deal with the material pick up (turf company would not deliver turf due to the small amt) and the labor and time that it takes, it just was not worth it. Looking back I should have left the turf install to Alvaro. In any case it turned out great for me. I'm glad that I went with artificial as Alvaro recommended. The sealer I purchased and sprayed on myself. I sealed my new and existing concrete. Amazing how the new concrete looks and how it broght it out the color on the existing. Just a heads up to others, concrete sealer is very expensive, hazardous, and difficult to handle. Probably best to leave it to the pros but in my case I wanted to do it on my own. I had to put in an extra effort so as to not botch the great job that Alvaro had done with the concrete. I can't say enough about the amazing job Alvaro and his team did!!! Our family wanted to redo our driveway, front, and back yards with total area being close to about 2700 square feet of work. We wanted a clean look that required very little maintenance and, due to CA on going drought, wanted very little water usage. The look was suppose draw your eye to the front door and provide us with more space for our family to use, which included a concrete patio area in the front. With Yelp's help, I sent this out to all the local concrete companies in the area. Out of six request for quotes, three replied back that we made appointments with. One guy didn't even show up to the appointment. Another, lets call them company B, was only a virtual appointment and made me do all the measurements myself while on a Zoom call. Then there was Alvaro. Alvaro actually came out to the house and did the measurements following all the safety precautions. Even though we were both vaccinated I liked how he followed the safety precautions. He went over with me all the things we wanted to do, and provided me the quote within 24 hours of our meeting. We met an two additional times over a period of two week as we wanted to make changes to the bid. Not only did he spend the time to talk it over with us, but, being that we were not interior designers, he also provided recommendations without straying to far from our design ideas. In contrast, Company B, took a week to come back with a bid, with a caveat that they can not guarantee the price quote until a project manager came out and did the measurements themselves. I know that company B wanted to be safe, but if they were going to send out a PM later on then why did they make me so all the measurements while on a Zoom call. It really was a waste of time. Despite my gripe with Company B, I still took and compared the bids provided by both companies and we ultimately went with Sandoval Concrete. The price was roughly the same. Alvaro's personal touch and his willingness to go over things with us was was a contributing factor, but what made use choose Sandoval Concrete was the his comment that he didn't want to START A NEW JOB WITHOUT FINISHING OFF HIS CURRENT JOB!!!!! For people new to the remodeling / construction business this is common practice. A contractor would work on multiple jobs to keep business going and to make sure there is no lull in the work. The problem with this is that for the end customer this left with half finish jobs in spaces that we need. I speak from personal experience. We first did our backyard three years earlier. We went with unlicensed concrete person that a neighbor used and the man was all smiles and told us the job would take no more than two weeks. SIX MONTHS later and a number of calls and stressful moments, with several weeks where no one came to work at our house, we closed the job early and told him his services were no longer needed. This was after spending a s*** load of money. That experience left a really bad taste in our mouth and so we were very watchful for any signs that this would happen again. Yet, I didn't have to worry. Alvaro was a true professional. His guys showed up on time, he order all the inspections, and they cleaned up after themselves. He gave us a time frame of two weeks and he finished in 10 days. He was in constant communication with us and provided us with a schedule of what was going to be done. Not only was the team professional, but the worked looked amazing. It blew our mind away at how everything turned out. The before and after pictures tells you the story.
