I was 130 miles from home at the end of a 22 day, 8500 mile ride to Deal's Gap. My chain wasn't going to make it. I searched the interweb for a shop that would quickly get me back on the road. I saw a pic of a Rokon and a twin cam CB750F out front of Sanden's shop and I knew who to call. Chris quickly understood what I was up against after a one minute phone call. I arrived shortly thereafter, and He pulled his current project bike off of the lift, and had my old sportbike lifted and chain removed quicker than I could have, and I've been wrenching since '89. Great shop, great guy. Don't bother taking your machine anywhere else in or around Bend. Chris with take great care of you. Over priced and didn't solve the problem. I brought in a dirt bike leaking oil and asked him to find the leak. All he did was throw a little sealant on two covers and then charged me $200+ I'm riding the bike and oil is still leaking lower on the engine. Save your time and money, go elsewhere for repairs that take a careful eye. read more

If you're looking for the lowest possible standards of business practice along with extremely slow turn around time and a condescending attitude, Chris Sanden is your guy. I called a few motorcycle shops on June 12 trying to find a place to clean my carb on my WR250F, which had been in storage in L.A. for a couple years. Everyone was 3 weeks out. Chris said he was also 3 weeks out but since it was just a carb clean he might be able to fit it in within a couple weeks. 4 weeks later I had not heard from him so I called. He said he was doing it the next week. 3 more weeks went by and I called again on July 28th. I said my bike has been there a couple months and I'm checking on when he will get to it. He was furious that I claimed it had been there a couple months and said I had dropped it off on June 12 which was only a month.... well, June 12 to July 28 - do the math, but OK, I just wanted my bike fixed and returned. He said he was planning to look at it that day. I was originally quoted 165-200. He called the next day, today... July 29 saying it was ready and the cost was $300. He said it took him an hour to get the fuel screw tip out. When I went to pay he had written down the jetting settings on my receipt, which he had set back to exactly where it was when I brought it in. The jetting was set for basically sea level when I took it in because I had been living in LA. I told him I had just moved back to Bend and would be riding it in Central Oregon. So instead of making a quick call to ask me what he already knew "do you you want the jetting set for central Oregon which is very different because its 3,000 feet higher elevation, or to stay at Los Angeles jetting" he simply kept it at its current settings and waited for me to come in to tell me to my face "ya, its going to be running too rich to ride here so you'll have to have it reset" meaning, I've just paid him $300 to clean the carb and he could have set the jetting properly but now I will have to go find someone else to take the carb out again and pay again to have the job done properly. He even wrote on my receipt "Carb jetted rich for this area". It would have taken him 5 minutes to call me and properly set the jets, but because he was mad that I told him he had my bike for 2 months he decided to be a monstrous jerk and purposely set the jets incorrectly. I asked him why he didn't call me and mention that the jetting needs to be changed and he said "you didn't ask me to change the jetting you only asked me to clean the carb". This guy full on ripped me off and couldn't wait to tell me to my face that he'd done it! Sanden's deserves zero stars and zero customers. TOTAL A-HOLE. read more

I like this place really good prices for changing out tires. I would go back again. The only issue was I asked for what he charged and he told me then asked for more money. I didn't mind I thought he would have standard prices on something so simple as changing a tire. He seemed short at times with me, but besides that, he answered all my questions and seem nice after a while of talking. read more

I was recently stuck between a rock and a hard place and Chris at Sanden's Motorsports went above and beyond his expected service to help a traveler on the road. We had broke down in the middle of the desert of eastern Oregon. We had taken a trip from Northern California through Oregon, Idaho, and Montana and back and were staying our last night on the road before we made it home for Father's Day. After finding a hotel for our last night on the road before returning home, my riding buddy noticed that my tire had a 2" x 18" portion of threads showing down the middle of my tire. With only 4000 miles on my brand new bike, this came as quite a surprise. The closest place that we could find a motorcycle tire shop open on the Saturday before Father's Day that carried a tire bigger then a 180 size in stock was in Bend, OR which was 130 miles from where we were. So after wrestling with the local Tow Truck Agency's that were taking advantage of a traveler in need, and picking up a tire we were dropped off at Sanden's Motorsports. When I called Chris was very receptive to a traveler in need, and a father trying to get home to keep a promise to his children. Chris without a thought fit me into his busy schedule and told me he was going to get my tire mounted up for me not matter what. As a business owner, I admired the integrity not only to his customers, but to the riding community and to travelers that we run into along the road from time to time that just might need a little human kindness. And anytime that I am traveling through or find myself in Bend, OR and need a mechanic, I will definitely come to you first.
