I highly recommend this company. Sandi & Dan built & installed 6 radiator covers for us - 5 in our apartment & one in our building's entryway. We have three young children and were nervous about them sustaining an injury by playing around the hot water radiators. The covers are a huge relief and I didn't even realize that aesthetically - they are so much of an improvement over the appearance of the uncovered radiators. The option we chose were wooden covers, the 5 in our apartment are painted white & the one in the entryway is color matched (by Sandi using environmentally friendly paint) perfectly to the color in the stairwell. We also had the bottom 1/2 of a pole (part of the building's heating system) extending from floor to ceiling covered - which is a huge relief because our kids wanted to play around this pole and it can suddenly become extremely hot. So - we worked a lot with this company and found them true their word in terms of cost & timing. They are also very likable people so if you are going to put your money towards this expense - I think you'll feel good about opting to work with this company. read more

These guys are just awesome. Prompt, friendly replies, totally reasonable prices, and best of all, gorgeous work. We had four radiator covers put in to save our cats from killing themselves by getting their paws stuck in the radiators when we aren't home (it happened when we were, thank goodness) and our search led us to the Sandcastle site. Their colorful fabric and string designs were immediately our favorite designs of all of the options we'd seen. This went from a search for a functional thing to picking out our now-favorite furniture items in our home. Sandi and Dan are not only extremely talented, they are honest, hard working, and very pleasant to work with. They just made 4 radiator covers for our new home and they all came out lovely. As a team, they are a perfect combination with Dan being the perfectionist carpenter and Sandi the dedicated artist. First of all, I love the exterior of Sandcastle's shop. It's fun, outgoing, and approachable, just like the couple that runs the place. I came in with some plans for rolling office side tables and some painting supports. Sandi scanned the plans I brought in right away and gave me a rough estimate right there and then. She suggested eco friendly options for materials, which I loved. They gave me progress updates every step of the way and voiced any concerns they might have had about the plans. They even gave me some free supplies to finish the staining job that I said I would do in order to save money on the project. To top it off, they so kindly dropped off the said items at my apartment on their way home so I didn't have to make two trips!!! The pieces turned out pretty great as well! Our new (well old) house had ugly radiators everywhere. It also made it near impossible to buy furniture since nothing would line up on my walls. Sandi was so helpful from the beginning. I am very eco friendly and extremely picky with furniture - I wanted all solid wood, no pressed particle board and zero voc paints. Sandi was so accommodating (all of their work is solid hard wood and non toxic!!!) and really took time to address my concerns. Now we not only have 6 radiator pieces (one of which is a gorgeous buffet piece in my dining room that all my guests gush over), but we have asked Sandi to do custom baseboards for my whole upstairs. Over the past 4 years Sandcastle has built the most beautiful radiator covers for each one of our rooms in our old Victorian home and it has made an incredible difference. Each one is a piece of art and helps bring the room together without compromising the heat at all. With her creative eye she has helped make awkward corners into useful spaces - incorporating bookshelves, a desk unit, an entertainment counsel into the radiators. Sandi and Dan just delivered our radiator covers - and they are tremendous. Our house is old - and far from square or level - and they did a fine job measuring, building, and tweaking the covers until they were a perfect fit. I can't even imagine what sort of mess I'd be in if I were doing the measuring myself - I'm sure I'd be propping the things up with duct tape. I sent Sandi a sketch, and within a couple of weeks I had a beautiful table, made exactly to my specifications and out of high-quality materials.
