The location is about 15 minute walk out of town or about a 5 minute drive. You are in proximity to the town centre with the quiet of being close to a stream and open space. We were there in October, but could tell that the gardens surrounding the B&B are absolutely beautiful. We only stayed for one night in a double/single room. I do wish that there were some lights on when returning to rooms in the evening -- it was hard to see in the dark hallways. Breakfast was delicious and unrushed. Katherine is as nice and helpful as can be; our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. The breakfast room overlooks her lovely garden. I needed help calling the Garda office in Cahir to obtain a copy of a report we'd made about a stolen license plate, and she kindly called them for me. If I am lucky enough to return to Kilkenny I would certainly stay there again.

We had one castle room and one carriage room for our stay. Both rooms were quaint and well maintained. The gardens around the property are gorgeous and wonderful to explore during nice weather. The only thing to note is that in off-season the main restaurant is only open on the weekends and the tea service is not available during the week. While we enjoyed the food at Hermione's, the day we stayed there was a group event closing the main restaurant so we had to eat in the bar area. Most of the activities are off the property which wasn't very clear as we approached the date of our stay. We ended up visiting the National Stud Farm (about 30 minutes drive) and the clay pigeon shooting (about 40 minutes drive). Highly recommend both activities and really appreciate the staff helping us arrange these activities. The downstairs bar area is open late with a delicious charcuterie and board games are available to use by the fireplace which was a fun way to spend the later evening hours. I'm sure it has not changed very much over the years, but it's kept extremely well and with a lot of love, I'm sure. Our bedroom, the blue room, was beautiful, very comfortable and had two great views. The study and dining room both had welcoming fires in the evening. The dining room even had one in the morning while you enjoyed breakfast. The breakfasts were probably the best I've had in an Irish guesthouse. A huge array of tasty fruit, including fresh raspberries from the garden. Homemade bread, freshly squeezed orange juice and excellent coffee. A full Irish if you wanted it or a smaller selection of items from said full Irish. Bobbie ensured you were catered for. We opted for the five course meal in the evening on the day we arrived. It was wonderful. We shared the dining table with another couple, who were also celebrating their wedding anniversary. They were regulars of Lorum, that's how much they love Lorum Old Rectory. A testament to Bobbie and the service she provides. I look forward to returning to Lorum. And recommending it to anyone who will listen to me.

From the run up to the day until we left the wedding coordinators & staff couldn't have done enough for us. The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating and made our lives extremely easy. We really didn't have to ask for much as they are ultimate professionals at what they do and had everything in hand unless we needed something personal. The food and service was absolutely amazing, you will not find nicer food than this venue and the amount of food and wine provided was incredible. Every single guest at our wedding could only say the most wonderful things about the staff, the food, the wine and how absolutely stunning the venue is. The only downside to Rathsallagh is you don't want to leave! We will be forever grateful to everyone at Rathsallagh for making our day as magical as possible. I only wish we could do it all again. My friend and I shared the croquettes to start which were just okay, but then I ordered a broccoli and mushroom soup and the Stuffed Chicken entree. The soup was delicious and the entree came with caramelized onions and mashed potatoes, plus a side salad. The entree was absolutely delicious. I can honestly say this was one of my favorite dishes in my whole Ireland trip. I left the Langton House more than satisfied.
