As a seller it is not my…read morechoice what title company to use- generally what is supposed to happen is the buyer's agent recommends three title companies to the buyer and then the buyer selects. In this case I think this is an in-house title company that the realtor suggested the buyer use. I am very upset with this title company because closing is supposed to be March 18th. I overnighted my documents on March 12th after meeting with a notary, scanning all the papers to Karen Butler, and waiting for an answer if the documents looked OK since when I called no one at PenFed title could let me know about one paper I was signing. I didn't hear from anyone at PenFed title on Monday the 16th so I assumed (wrongly) that everything was OK because I was told they needed documents by the 17th. Well morning of the 17th is when they decide to email both my email accounts and tell me that they don't have my papers and if I could send them my tracking number. Obviously this makes me upset because I put my drivers license, address, social security number and all sorts of personal information in the mail to them and they are telling me it is lost. Not only that but I was relying on my property closing on the 18th and I am worried settlement will be delayed. All I get after I send the tracking number is "thank you." That isn't acceptable!!!! Especially after the processor pulled my payoff on February 25th or 26th, and my last payment for March 1st isn't reflected in the payoff, and now I have to wait 30- 60 days for my mortgage company to refund me the overage. I don't know why she pulled my payoff that early. By the time I got a HUD and realized this is was too late for her to order a new payoff. Karen had also asked me in mid February if I'd be making my March condo payment. I had to tell her I planned to make my March condo payment as well as my March mortgage payment. I have NEVER heard of a title company insinuate that not making a timely payment would be OK. Why would I want to pay after the 15th of the month and ruin my credit and wait for a closing on the 18th, as well as sign their document that "no payments have been late" and "property is not in foreclosure." It simply did not make sense to me. I do not know why she couldn't get my payoff March 2nd or 3rd. I'm pretty disappointed that this is the title company the buyers are using because now I'm not sure if it will close on time and they don't seem to know what they are doing. I started looking around the web to see if they were on yelp and what others thought, or if this had happened to them and I did not see them on yelp, google reviews, yahoo, and could not find them even after clicking the link on their webpage to Facebook. Go figure I couldn't review them without adding them to yelp since they were nowhere else to be found.
