Visiting a pilgrimage site in Ars, France...
The Sanctuary of Ars had many Points of Interest, including the body of Saint John Vianney and the relic of his heart.
First, we went to the Information Office and watched a one hour video in English. We learned that Saint John Vianney was a simple person who was full of wisdom. Lessons were taught in Latin and he almost gave up, but was taught in French and was successful.
We visited the house where Saint John had lived. The museum held artifacts such as his clothing. We found the incorrupt body and relic of his heart. We were fortunate to cross paths with young pilgrims who beautifully sang at the entrance to the chapel.
We bought souvenirs at the gift shop. I got a little figurine of Saint Jean-Marie Vianney (that glows in the dark) for our priest at home... especially because Saint John Vianney is the Patron Saint of parish priests. read more
