I selected Gold Painting after receiving 8+ proposals from other painting contractors to paint the exterior of my large colonial in Concord MA, and all windows, mullions etc., as well as some necessary repairs for the job. I compared 'apples to apples' and Gold had the BEST proposal for the same scope of work. Very reasonable! The communications were Excellent, and when I had questions Alex Silveira responded right away via email or text. I asked as many questions as I could to be sure we were all on the same page. They provided proof of insurance both workmen's comp and liability to me as well. They also waranteed their work. Their crew was well supervised throughout, and no matter what I asked them to look at or address, or go over, they did it. I had no idea if I was too picky as I never did a paint job alone before, but they were great. I saw a few things even after they were paid and off the job, and they came back right away. The work was, to quote head contractor Michael Brown, "unacceptable." There are spots of plaster on…read moreour brand new stairs that will require sanding and a refinish to remove. The trim around the doors was reinstalled about 1 cm off from where it used to be, and at a noticeable angle. A piece of drywall that was replaced now scrapes the top of a door every time it's opened or closed. Someone started sanding plaster just feet away from the kitchen without warning or putting up a single plastic sheet. It took days to clean every surface. Was the work done? Technically, yes, but only after weeks of reminders to get the last couple of items finished, endless back and forth with Mike and various subcontractors, and with plenty of issues. Sharp corner beads with not enough plaster on them, misaligned trim and baseboard, half-sanded plaster (the rest is "included with painting"). And of course the trash left behind - masks, soda cups, cigarette butts in the yard, plaster dust everywhere, plaster water with chunks dumped in the garden beds. Despite multiple complaints, we had to clean all of this up ourselves.
