Downstairs is a typical standing room only with tiny tables above the waist. Anyway, I do not know if that makes a difference with the quality of food but upstairs, they keep their meats in a buffet tray heated by a burner. Hence, the meat is UBER dry. Apparently for waiters it is too hard to walk down the stairs to get the food from the ladies in the kitchen. Second, servers are the worst! Forgot orders, never came to check on you, their way to treat customers is just dry, very un-Mexican. I've always been treated nicely in my motherland. My theory is that this place has created this fame of being such a great place that people keep on coming out of tradition. Plus, they are right across from the Plaza Mexico. I truly believe they used to be great but they got sloppy and lazy. Never coming back, worse experience in Mexico City EVER

The entrance leads you into a long narrow room, at the base level of what I think is a 3 story building. A communal table beckons and with electrical outlets just hiding underneath the table, this is a clear spot to plug in and type away. Work-from-home types take note! The menu ranges from breakfast items (chilaquiles with shredded chicken and and egg was my preference) to coffees, juices, and lunch delights. Towards the rear of the long dining/working room, there's a bright spot where up above, the ceiling has been lifted and the open sky greets you. It's cozy, but it's perfect for someone looking to get some work done for a few hours and enjoy some good eats. Plus wifi is free, so that's nice.
