A restless place…read more St Luke's Cemetery is a small but very pleasant place to spend eternity. Or at least a part of eternity. That's a long time and who knows what the future has in store. The little graveyard has a couple of benches, lots of nice trees and of course plenty of dead people. Mostly dead Lutherans because this is a Lutheran cemetery. It was pretty peaceful and nice when I was there but there are lots of tales of ghosts in this old cemetery. A woman there told me that this is a spooky and haunted place and that people have heard and seen all kinds of weird things over the years. From what she told me it was primarily noises that get peoples attention. Strange howling, hissing and vague voices from a distance. Weird and spooky stuff to be sure. I've been in a whole lot of graveyards, many very old and supposed haunted but I never heard or seen a thing. Maybe ghosts don't like me. I didn't see or hear anything at St Luke's and it seemed quiet and peaceful. I don't know about the strange voices and noises but I do know this is a nice and peaceful cemetery and a very pleasant place to say hello to old friends that have moved on.

It's sad to see the neglect of traditional, historic worship practices. Looking at the website, one…read morecan clearly see the emphasis is on rock band/praise services. It's ironic that the Catholic Church is growing, particularly among the younger crowd, that is drawn to a worship style that traces its way back over a thousand years. St. Luke's doesn't even give the opportunity to receive Christ's Body and Blood kneeling at the altar rail. One kind of feels like they're throwing a bone to those who are stuck in the past with their quasi traditional service where you can't even kneel. There are no kneelers in the pews for the confession of sins nor for the consecration of the bread and wine. I believe if properly educated, the masses, including the younger generation, would crave the traditional Divine Service that has roots going back over a thousand years. Most people want to feel grounded in something historic and timeless.
