I'll admit my weakness: A small business in a big industry, an owner where you usually see a manager, a family in place of a Board of Directors -- this is what I like. Starting with that, it is true, I'd probably be partial to San Pasqual anyway. But this is a local, small business that also produces big and beautiful wine. The fact that the vintner and CEO is also the guy who greets you at the door is a bonus. True, the location is not typical or typically beautiful. San Pasqual is nestled between the freeway and a factory, not atop the rolling hills of Sonoma or Cote du Rhone. But even the location is somehow part of the charm -- reminding you that this is a real winery with real people and a real purpose, not a faux, Spanish-style hacienda that puts more thought into its post card than its petite syrah. Some basics: The grapes are locally grown, and many come from the Guadalupe Valley, where the industry is as young and vibrant as the vintner and the vines. The wines are nice and nicely priced, with my favorites being the Monte Soledad (a red) and the "Granacha Blanca" (a white wine made from a red grape). But I always leave a little room for dessert, in this case the velvety finish of the Coronado Port. But don't take my word for it ... Come by for a tasting! (Tues-Thurs, 11-4; Friday and Saturday, 12-6) With the winery being as close and convenient as it is (not far from PB and the Claremont Costco), you really have nothing to lose. In the worst-case scenario, you'll get a glimpse into the industry and a taste of what our region has to offer. Trust me, it's a lot more than meets the eye. PS - The Santa Fe Street location can be a bit tricky. (Note, this is NOT Morena Blvd.) To get there, my advice is to drive north on Mission Bay Drive, as if you were going to McDonald's or the In-and-Out. Just after you cross Balboa, veer right onto Damon Ave. That will take you to Santa Fe, where you'll make a left. San Pasqual is in a small strip of businesses on the right. (You can also make a right onto Santa Fe directly from Balboa, but this can be tricky if you haven't done it before.)

THis is a review on they're La Mesa Village tasting location. Great location to tast some local wines. You have to try they're Passion Fruit Habanero wine, it's amazing! They rent their back room for parties as well and it's a steal! $15 gets each person six tastings and chees & cracker as well as $5 any bottle of wine! We're planning on having my wife's birthday there, you can bring in your own food as well! $5/person for non-drinkers too!

Stumbled on this place by accident. Not the biggest wine drinker, but i appreciate it. Ryan was really knowledgeable and helpful with wine tasting. The habanero wine is probably the best wine I had! I will be back for more!

This place is so great! The wines are really good and reasonably priced. Go and have some tasters, you won't regret it!

I didn't taste this at the winery, but the habanero passionfruit wine is excellent, and I'm so glad I purchased it.

Let me just say, I'm not a cider person, but I did enjoy the variety offered. The business is a bit rustic but not sketchy or dirty. They cater to pup loving clientele and I believe give some of the proceeds to dog telated charity which is commendable. However, the owner seems to really have a chip on her shoulder for whatever reason and I left with a sense of empathy of what this place could become. She had to deal with Covid which caused her to lay off staff and she's now a one-woman show. This overwork definitely leaks into the vibe you get here. She seem to engage with the repeat patrons but in order to grow a business you have to also make want people to be return customers. The cider is good but the fro t end leave a lot to be desired.

What better end to a hike with your fur babies then a stop to grab some cider at a dog friendly place. I did enjoy the atmosphere and was impressed by the amount of flavor options at this place. However, after going up to order, my husband and I would have left immediately if it weren't for the fact that we were with a group. The woman at the counter was so incredibly rude, I could hardly believe it. My husband asked the question "Which flavor would you recommend that isn't apple". This lady literally said in such a sarcastic tone "Well they are all apple." and looked at him like he was an idiot. Yeah no crap lady, we understand what cider is, but you also knew exactly what his question meant. We received a handful of unneccary rude comments like that. The cider was actually decent, but if you care about being treated nicely when spending your hard earned money at an establishment, this isn't the place for you.
