There is no better way to go over the Golden Gate Bridge!

It's just awesome to support a small business and have a BLAST at the same time! We took a Friday 11 am tour and enjoyed great weather. Having taken this tour over 15 years ago I wasn't sure if the tour company still existed but was glad to see it was. It is under new ownership but has the same fun, family friendly feel. Usually the tour provides fire jackets and blankets for the windy ride (it's an open air fire engine), but due to Covid guidelines they can't right now. We did not come super prepared for the cold but were given great suggestions on where to pick up inexpensive hats and hooded sweatshirts nearby. This tour is just pure fun; with historical highlights, silliness, and the most amazing ride over the Golden Gate! They stop at a stunning viewpoint and will even take pictures of your group. A perfect outing for families, or anyone who is young at heart.

We decided to do the Holiday Lights Tour with San Francisco Fire Engine Tours after we got an offer from Amazon local and it was fun. First off your get to ride through San Francisco in vintage firetruck. Both are Mack Fire Engines one is from San Francisco and the other was trucked over from Philadelphia. One is from 1955. Another added bonus is that they have authentic vintage fireman jackets from around the country that you can wear to keep warm. Since it is winter I would suggest doing that and bringing some gloves and a hat or ear muffs. We have been through some of the areas we visited before, just no at Christmas, and not in an open air ride. You really get to see a lot of things that you may have missed riding in a car. The tour guide pointed out interested things along the route and played and sang Christmas music. Very Festive. They have tours that start at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm. We did the 5pm because of our schedule. I would not recommend that time. We were in the commute for the most part. Half the tour was in heavy traffic. Not the tours fault, its the city. 7 pm may be better as most commute traffic is probably gone. 9 pm could also be great since the streets will be much emptier. Not sure if that would also get you into more areas of the city since we were limited on the 5pm tour as to how far we could go in the 90 minute window. Holiday Lights tour runs through Dec 23.

We booked this tour as a surprise for our son's 10th birthday and were not disappointed! Ito & Deborah were fantastic hosts & tour guides. Deborah was very sweet, outgoing, and funny. She also made sure that our son felt celebrated on his big day. The tour itself showed many areas of San Francisco we had never seen before (original police station, Ft. Baker & an old logging tunnel. Deborah also led the truck in a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" & "Jolly Good Fellow" while driving through the logging tunnel. It brought a huge smile out of our kiddo who was trying very hard to keep it cool. Highly recommend this tour!

    This is the fire Engine

We did the Christmas lights tour. You don't really see lights but you drive around SF. You see lots of Christmas trees. We also got to go through Union Square. Our driver was a elementary music teacher so he sang us Christmas carols and we sang along so that was super fun. This is probably for kids age 3+

So much fun! That fact my husband owns a vintage fire engine made it a must do for us, but we'd recommend to anyone looking for a different way to learn about the city. Great narration, lots of fun history about the city and the fire history of the city. Beautiful views across the Golden Gate and into the Muir Headlands.

This tour was awesome!! We have a 2.5 year old and this was the highlight of his trip. We learned so much about SF along with having the best tour in the city. People were stopping and taking pics of us. Carley the tour guide was amazing. We did sing-a-longs and had a jolly good time. We started off at the wharf and traveled over the golden gate bridge down to Sausalito. Over the bridge was FREEZING, so dress warm and bring hats. (they do offer you hats and jackets if you do not have them). They took us to a great spot in Sausalito to get pics with the Fire Truck and the golden gate bridge. I recommend this to all ages. The BEST way to see the city is on their 1955 Mack Fire Truck.

This was my favorite thing we did as a family while visiting San Fransisco! Deborah was our narrator and she was amazing! Very funny and extremely knowledgable about this city and it's rich history! I was in awe of all the cool information. It was chilly but they do hand out fire jackets in all sizes that were more then warm enough for the whole family. They stopped for great pictures and we got to steer the fire truck in a few of them. The gentleman who was driving (I'm sorry but the name escapes me at the moment) was great! We all felt safe the whole time he was behind the wheel. It was my sons 4th birthday and they made him feel like a rockstar by singing happy birthday and Jolly good fellow. The group that we were with participated in the singing and it brought a huge smile to his face. We were punctual to leave and to return. Almost like they have done this before! I would highly recommend this tour if you are even slightly interested in the history of this crazy city. Cant wait to visit again!

Two little elves on the firehouse tour!

It was nice to see it with the tour too and not have to worry about makes a reservation there. We promptly left at 8am. And the tour shop does have a small bathroom which is nice to use before you leave. Barry was a great tour guide, he loved taking pictures of everyone and knows a lot about San Francisco. We got out of the bus twice to take pictures on the way to Muir Woods. They were great picture stops and we head nice weather to pose in front of Golden Gate Bridge. Even though I've been to SF 5 times I still loved this tour. I've been to Sausalito before and could have skipped that, there is not much to do in that town besides eat something and look at the bay. Muir Woods is the real gem. We had only 1 hour and 15 min to explore on our own. I was alone so I walked fast and think I got to see more than most in that time. I would have liked more time there. You can add on Alcatraz and the bus drops you off there, or he can drop you at fisherman's wharf or back at the tour shop. Highly suggest this tour company! Very friendly, on time and knowledgeable!

We were supposed to be able to stop in Sausalito for lunch. We didn't get to do that at all. We got back with 20 mins to eat and get in line for the ferry to Alcatraz so we were super rushed. The tour guide was also in a big hurry from the minute we started. He also yelled and honked at cars on 3 seperate occasions. The stops were all rushed. And the tour was mostly the tour guide talking about music recorded in San Fran. Don't recommend for the price.

I do agree…read morethat it's a little pricey but if you spend a solid 2-3+ hours there, I think it's worth it. Pros: + The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. + Once you get on the island and go through the 5 minute orientation from the NPS ranger, you're free to roam about. + The audio-guided tour is actually REALLY good. It was my first time and I thought it would be cheesy but it was engrossing and informative. + Restrooms were very clean and not crowded (at least not the guy's restroom). + There are some truly AMAZING views of the bay. Bring a travel-safe camera. Neutral: ~ There's restrictions on food and drink (only bottled water is allowed in the majority of the park). So plan ahead. ~ San Francisco traffic is real and kinda sucks. Plan ahead for delays. ~ A good portion of the park is outdoors (which isn't a negative but means that it's impacted by the weather). It gets super windy so plan ahead and dress appropriately. Cons: - The price is indeed a little high. I don't think I'd go here all the time. Once every couple years is probably fine. - A friend told me that there's a LOT of bird poop around and they were right. It's not enough to impact walking but does detract from the experience slightly.

The ticket takers were very professional and friendly. The ship personnel were also professional and friendly. The ship itself could use an update but was clean. Once docked after a quick 15 minute trip we were welcomed by a NPS docent who gave us a quick description of the island and specific do's and don'ts. A little electric tram was provided for those who need assistance to get to the top of the facility otherwise one has to hoof and puff to the top amongst paved switchbacks equaling 13 flights of stairs. The individual tour itself was informative but be prepared for herds of people stopping and crowding on the audio tour. Personally, I recommend not utilizing the audio portion because it's too wordy plus the info boards are more than sufficient. We did enjoy our excursion but feel it was a bit pricey for what you get and understand most of the collected monies goes toward the cruise costs. For those who collect the National Park Stamps don't forget to bring your book and/or ask the cashier for the stamp.

It's not your typical tour--you're not stuck behind glass or packed into a big group. The city is right there around you, and everything feels more alive; almost cinematic. The whole experience was super easygoing and fun! We covered a lot without it ever feeling rushed, and there were plenty of chances to stop, take photos, and just enjoy where we were. Some of our favorite moments were actually the unexpected spots we never would've found on our own, like the beautiful, yet uncrowded overlook on Telegraph Hill. Everything felt really natural--nothing scripted or forced. Just a great mix of interesting stories, local insight, and a lot of laughs along the way. Chad made the tour phenomenal. He brought brought great energy and enthusiasm to the experience, which made it even more enjoyable without ever feeling over the top. And the bus itself is half the experience! It's such a vibe--people smiling, waving, even taking pictures as you drive by. It adds this extra layer of fun you just don't get anywhere else. By the end, it felt like we experienced San Francisco in a way you can't do anywhere else. So if you're even thinking about it, just book it. Totally worth it!! -Mark & Gina, Kansas, USA.

Customer service over the phone was great, the tour was awesome and we learned new things about San Francisco that we had never learned before. The views were STUNNING and the open air car was awesome. Bring a jacket, the day was perfect sunshine which is unheard of for San Francisco this time of year and I was still frozen at the end of our ride. There were just a few things that kept this from being a 5 star experience: Car condition: the breaks on this e-car literally SCREAMED each time we stopped. The car stopped with no issue, but it totally freaked us out - especially on some of the steep hills. Otherwise the car was in excellent condition and we only depleted maybe 10% of the battery in our 3 hour tour. Front desk staff: check in and out was easy enough, but the front desk staff were realllllllly indifferent. They also talked like auctioneers, crazy fast. They showed all of the folks in the office this map route and talked at the speed of light. Now, we knew about 40% of the stops we would take and still got confused. How on earth are tourists supposed to understand this map direction situation. Seriously, the company would be better off instructing the front desk to say "your car will guide you through this map" than to try to have them explain where people are going. Or at least tell guests that "this seems like a lot, but you have a map in your car and the car will guide you, we are giving you this info so that you have some of the locations in your mind". Tour Guide/GPS: the GPS/Tour Guide storyline sounded like it was for the yellow car only. There were a few times that we were thinking, this can't be referring to our car. For example, there was one steep hill decent that we were going to go on and the GPS/Tour Guide said "I'm only designed to go 25 mph, so take care down this steep hill" we couldn't tell if we were only allowed to go 25 mph or if this cars speed was capped at 25 mph, but the website says that the top speed is 80 mph. Also, we were told that this car can go across the Golden Gate Bridge and the GPS said several times that it is not allowed to go on the bridge. Overall, we had a wonderful time, the GPS worked the entire time and we learned new facts about SF and saw new things that we hadn't noticed before. We also got MANY compliments on this car and almost every group that saw us said that they want to take this car out while on their trip. This was an awesome experience and we will bring family/friends here when they visit for amazing views of the city.

I was frustrated because I kept calling to see if there was anything I needed to do before getting to the place. They said no just come and we'll take your Groupon information. So we got there and it was torture to get signed in. It took us an hour for signing in! Finally, we get in the cars, my gps didn't work well. We went a mile and had to return that car. We got another car and went on our tour. My brother's car had a hard time going up the hill (right before Lombard Street) and it had very little power and it started smoking. We had to wait for them to get to Lombard street. We went down the crookedest street then quickly returned the cars. My brother was afraid that he and my sister in law would stall or that the car would catch on fire. We ended our tour 1 hour early. Issues are the cars look used up and not well maintained. They need more workers at the front desk and car pickup area. Cars should be checked prior to customers coming to ensure they're going to work well. I think this is a GREAT idea and very fun. I was able to see more of SF because of this amazing self guided tour. The reason I didn't rate my experience as a 5 star is the wait time checking in and the car issues.
