I recently visited this office and left extremely disappointed and concerned. After reviewing my…read moreX-rays and periodontal charting, it was clear that the treatment plan I was given did not match my actual dental condition. My chart showed mostly healthy gum measurements (1-3 mm), with only one or two localized areas measuring 4-5 mm and very mild, localized bone changes. My X-rays also showed no generalized bone loss and no signs of moderate periodontal disease. Despite this, I was told I needed deep cleanings (SRP) in three quadrants, totaling over $1,200 out of pocket. After seeking additional opinions and reviewing the imaging myself, it became clear that this level of treatment was not clinically justified. A localized cleaning in the small problem areas--NOT full-mouth treatment--would have been appropriate. I left feeling pressured, confused, and uncomfortable with the aggressive treatment recommendation. I also overheard similar upsell-style conversations happening with other patients, which made me even more concerned. I chose not to move forward with treatment and will not be returning. Patients deserve accurate diagnoses, honest communication, and treatment plans that reflect what's actually needed--not inflated or unnecessary procedures. I hope this feedback encourages the office to reevaluate how treatment plans are presented and to prioritize patient trust and transparency.

The hygienist commented on the shirt when she saw it. Apparently this office has only one hygienist who comes in on Mondays and lives in Bisbee. He says the cleaning was ok - hygienist seemed to be awkward with the tools and had problems getting the suction tube to work right. When my husband left the dental office he accidentally left his denim work shirt in the cleaning room. As soon as he came home, he mentioned he left his shirt there. He went back the next day at about 11:15am and the clinic was closed which seemed strange since the hours posted on the door don't indicate a lunch hour. He then went back there the following week and, the shirt was not there - hmmmmm..... So, cleaning was OK but, don't leave your valuables at this office!

I used to suffer major anxiety attacks before a dental appointment, and although I can't say I look forward to my checkups, I am comfortable and trust everyone who works here. I highly recommend Dr. Simpson.

Many years ago I was in a car accident and had TMJ and broken/ missing front teeth. Dr Ramirez…read morereally overcharged the insurance and had to refund back $8,000 plus he was told the drntal board was being very generous on the other $2,000. He grinded all of my teeth down in the back with my TMJ and the front teeth he put in looked bulky and rotten. I was 15/16 at the time and it didn't help with self assurance after having most of the trauma in my facial area. He was more worried about taking his side chick out on a vacation than the work I needed done. I can't believe he's still practicing. I would not recommend! However, his staff at the time were very good to me. Only 1star because you have to give at least that much to post.

Dr. Ramirez claimed he didn't take Care Credit, yet he had signs in office lobby stating Care…read moreCredit was accepted there. He said he didn't do payment plans and rudely asked us if we had another credit card. My daughter had been near death in 2023 and due to other health issues, consequently had a lot of work to be done in her mouth. He was very rude to her and figured up "his" estimate without contacting her insurance company. He then said he would try to run the Care Credit to see if it worked. He charged the full amount of "his" estimate. He also took a debit charge payment from my daughter for $500. He took x-rays on my daughter only and scheduled an additional appointment. He made rude comments to my daughter as to "how she looked different than last time he saw her," rudely. We decided to cancel and find another dentist. We filed a dispute claim for the charge of "his" estimate which he totally charged on my Care Credit card of $3,010.00. CC sent him notices about the dispute which he ignored and when we would check he kept saying that his bank had done the chargeback and sent the money back to Care Credit. This went on for nearly 2 months. We would contact CC and they said they hadn't heard or received anything from him. Care Credit finally closed the dispute stating it was resolved because Dr. Ramirez said he had rendered the services. I had to file another dispute with CC. My husband called and went to his office several times and Dr. Ramirez kept advising the money/refund had been sent in. Long story short- finally he gave my husband a check for the refund, less $406 (stating these were fees for CC doing the dispute) that he had been charged. We didn't want to deal with a law suit in Small Claims court. We were so done with him, we came up with the difference of the $406 ourselves because we didn't want anything else to do with him. We paid off the full charge of $3010 on my Care Credit card. Regards the $500 he still has from my daughter, he claims once the insurance pays for the X-rays he did, he will reimburse her the difference. Hmm...do you find it's odd that his inept office woman never sent in the claim to the insurance company. The insurance has had to contact Ramirez's office twice. So consequently, he has stolen $406 from us and $500 from our daughter- almost $1000 for only taking 4 X-rays! Dr. Ramirez is a thief and a shister and the work he previously had done on my daughter has to all be redone by a reputable dentist.

I suspected trouble was brewing upon the descent of my oldest son's permanent teeth. Neither…read morehubby's nor my teeth required orthodontics, so I waited & watched, patiently, ever hopeful, in silence. Finally, Dr. Bloom (our pediatric dentist, who owes his bulging bank account to my kids' crappy brushing techniques and stubborn resistance to ever floss) delivered the inevitable, wallet deflating news - braces were necessary. I selected Dr. Kawakami, blindly, no preferences were given from Bloom, who remains annoyingly, politically indifferent during such discussions. So, left to my own decision making devices, I chose Kawakami based on the consonant cadence of his name. The first time we met Dr. Kawakami, it was Friday, just before Halloween. The entire office staff, including Dr. K were festively attired in costumes, and not on a phoning-it-in level, either. Much to my sci-fi son's delight, Dr. K was Star Trek's Spock and easily indulged him w/ Spock-isms. We were putty in his hands after that initial interaction. Dr. K is a kind, conscientious person. He gently mapped out treatment option and easily shared his experienced opinions. The grand total for the multiple tactics necessary to correct my son's problems came to $4000, of which our insurance covered $1000 - yeah, our insurance suuuucks! Dr. K's office offers a generous 10% discount for cash payment in full, so that brought it down to $2700. That includes all of the x-rays, maintenance visits, wax, etc... Dr. K's staff is really friendly, happy, even. I actually buy that they like working there. His receptionists are not time Nazi's, meaning, when we happen to run late - ok, I admit to an uncontrollable, genetic predisposition that unintentionally results in arriving a few minutes late, yes, people hate me for it, but, I digress - they don't give us the evil eye, making us feel even guiltier, like every other desk jockey does. My son's brace technician is Cheryl, he really likes her, considers her a friend, and barely complains even when she has to crank up the wire tension. Tanner's teeth are well on their way to becoming one of his best assets, thanks to Dr. K and his staff. They have made an expensive and tedious process sail by smoothly.
