Samurai II has been upgraded to the all star status, mainly due to staffing "upgrades" (all staff are Japanese and know Japanese food well), increase of menu diversity (they included a special menu), better visibility of the sushi chef, who is Japanese (and so would have the proper sushi chef training) and saving the best for last - really good prices for such good quality; unlike those boojie Seefeld Japanese restaurants that charges double of what they do here (but yes there is a price to pay for poshness).
- Samurai I is closed... For now. The website as of March 24 noted to keep our eyes peeled for the new location of Samurai I. So being "No. 2" for now is the sole location, all the focus and the key staff are here.
- This place is authentic Japanese. Fully serviced and run by Japanese people. It's the real deal, honeys! Being authentic, it doesn't do this rubbish "local flavor" of adding cream cheese (frischkase) in your sushi rolls like Yoojis and the supermarket sushi made by Shinshen factory does. Who needs these empty extra tasteless calories and fat? LOL
- For Zurich standards (and overall in general), the choice is quite varied. They have good chirashi (I proclaim, the best in town - but there's not a lot of good competition for good chirashi here), fresh sushi/sashimi, an assortment of various sushi rolls to choose from, the visually presentable sushi boat to be ideally shared w 2 people, decent ramen, and the whole nine yards.
- For Zurich standards of pricing, the food is quite cheap and cheery for a Japanese restaurant that serves fresh, well prepared authentic Japanese food from Japanese people. All of my Japanese friends love this place. There you go, can't go wrong on that one!
- A few like myself have PREVIOUSLY whined about this locations' atmosphere. It's a bit small so feels a bit crammed. So I wouldn't say out loud, any big embarrassing secrets in here, because the last time I was eating here, I looked over and saw someone I knew right behind me. LOL. Seriously since there is no Samurai 1 location to compare to, it doesn't matter anymore. There is no longer comparability for me. read more
