I myself broke ranks and ordered the English Breakfast, which was an okay decision. The food itself was tasty enough, but it wasn't what I'd call authentic. Still, tasty. This is also a preferred location in Aalen for an evening coffee, or to have a relaxed cocktail before going to a more happening location. Service is friendly and laid back, which is my way of saying that I thought it was slow until I realised that I was in the quiet town of Aalen, where shops close at 1PM on Saturdays. So, no, it isn't slow per se, just...laid back. So why only three instead of four or five? Food was good, but not stellar. Coffee was good, but not great, though I do give props for pouring a proper latte macchiato. Prices seem a little high. I do have to heartily recommend the Austrian Walnut Bread. That is a fine bread and you would upgrade your breakfast/brunch experience significantly by ordering a basket of just that.

The woman running this little café could not have been nicer. She spoke next to no English but was as friendly, and helpful as could be. She even gave our daughter a little bag of fruit trolls. When I saw it on Happy Cow (the website for finding vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurants worldwide) I hoped it was going to be a good experience. One of the staff (the owner?) told us she is vegan herself, but it is not just a vegan cafe. Lots of options for vegetarians and meat eaters, too. I asked for an iced coffee and was offered the choice of having it 'German style', which was to have some ice cream (non-dairy) in it! I decided this sounded amazing and opted for this, and it was a delightful unexpected extra to my caffeine hit. We had a roll with smoked tofu and salad each, and we also had the option of a cashew nut salad but we felt satisfied with all we had ordered. However, that didn't stop us getting a Vego bar on the way out (a big chunky bar of hazelnut and chocolate heaven). I sat outside on the street, but it looked nice inside with ample seating and they also had outdoor seating in the back. I came in for the gelato which was AMAZING - fresh, smooth, great flavor. They had a nice selection - I went with fruity flavors. It was so good, I also tried the tart. Again, amazing and homemade. I will definitely return and recommend this to others. If you want fresh, clean food, this is a great spot in Bad Windsheim.
