Let's start by stating this may have been better if I dined in. I ordered delivery and it was way over priced for what it is. I paid $43 which included a $5 tip for an appetizer & a small calzone. Calzone had good flavor but I had to wipe some grease off before eating. The zucchini fritter were also tasty but since I ordered Togo - I should have asked for them to be cooked crispy before the moisture in the box made them very floppy. Not sure I would suggest delivery but again it may be better in a dining experience read more

I ordered online through the Slice app. app told me it was ready at 3:33 and i could pick it up. it wasnt ready until 4:05. It was a sub, nothing special. When i got home and saw the sub i was surprised. Sammios used to be good. it had very little meat and one thin slice of tomato. I ate two bites of my salad and found a dead fly. Disappointment changed to disgust. read more

The service is always wonderful. 4.5 stars for service. They have a friendly staff. We eat here once a week because they treat us well not because of the food. The food... when it's good is 4 stars. But this is one of the most inconsistent places I have ever eaten. 1 star for consistency. Like seriously ONE STAR. You know the expression "depends on who is cooking" that is thrown around often to let you know the food doesn't always taste good? Example 1: Meaty Pizza. Loads of meat and cheese. If you get it on a good day it has a great blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses! But we've had it made correctly twice out of the 12 times we've ordered it. We've had the pizza with virtually no meat and only cheddar cheese. Like a quesadilla. Example 2: Fettucini Alfredo. I have had this with penne pasta and with spaghetti. No, it doesn't taste the same. FETTUCINI. The dish sometimes comes with "extra" spices. I've had it with so much crushed red pepper that I nearly choked on my first bite. I wasn't ready for spicy. Last night there was so much black pepper in it I could barely taste anything else. Sometimes it tastes like milk and is watery. It Sometimes it's delicious. Example 3: Chicken Parm. Sometimes you get cheese, sometimes you don't, and sometimes it's cheddar not mozzarella. It gets really old. The food is still good and the staff treats us very well. But I can't imagine it's good for business and I know we aren't the only ones because it's a common topic of conversation. ITALIAN FOOD = WHITE CHEESES (sure there is occasionally yellow, but always white. At least get the color right so I can say it was an honest mistake. read more

The food was excellent. The spaghetti with the more than 30-year-old recipe was exquisite, truly delicious. Unfortunately, Liz's service was terrible. Adam was the one who actually helped us, and we are very grateful to him. It's a shame that they have employees who don't care about the customers, because the food is truly excellent and high quality. read more

I would have given a zero if I could have. We waited at our table for 20 minutes with no one coming over to take our order. Service people seemed simply unaware and oblivious to anyone, yet there was hardly anyone in the restaurant and plenty of staff and management standing around. Disappointing to say the least. read more

We have really enjoyed our visits to Sammio's both in the restaurant and take out. The food is delicious and the service is top notch. The ambience in the restaurant is great and very family friendly. My kids love the gumball machine at the door. They can also accommodate large parties. Everybody must try this restaurant!! read more

Clean restaurant with good service. Food.. meh, it lacked flavor, to include zucchini fries, steak, and pasta. The noodles to sauce ratio was way off and we had to ask for extra sauce. Finally the "checker" came by the table to ask us if everything was ok. Which it was.. ok. We will try it again one more time in hopes it's better next time. read more

Delicious food! Unique setting. Good service. Would go again when visiting the Hope Mills area.

Spaghetti and meatballs. Yuck! Overcooked burnt spongy meatballs. This was about the third time I tried spaghetti and meatball. Three strikes you're out . Reheating the same meatball for three days doesn't save money, it pushes customers away. read more

Sammios has been around since I was a kid. But the last couple of times we have went their sanitation score is only a 93 & never seems to improve. And their pricing is wrong on their kids menu & I never realize till after they have cashed me out. The pricing is lower on the paper menu than what they charge to include the meatball. $1.99 for ONE meatball is crazy. I have let the staff know but no one seems to care so pay attention. They also like to slide an extra fee on the bill for the 'restaurant'. Food is subpar & over priced. read more

I was excited to try it for the first time today, I called and asked for a chicken parm with Alfredo sauce, I said it twice she read it back to me also, I get there and pick it up and she read it back again, I looked at it and it look like it had Alfredo it it was just cheese all of the red meat sauce was under the chicken, it wasn't until I start to eat the chicken when I noticed it. Now their only resolution is me having to drive all the way back and bring the food and remake it or starve tonight have no dinner and bring the food back tomorrow not to mention my other plate had 5 pieces of chicken for the chicken Alfredo. Very disappointed with food and services first and LAST time eating here. Wasted my gas just for them to THROW AWAY THE FOOD INSTEAD OF JUSF LETTING ME KEEP THE DAMN CHICKEN SINCE IT WAS THEIR FUCK UP read more

Gosh, dang I love this place! This is my husband and my go to when our son is in school or for dinner for all three of us! Every server we've ever had there has been so kind and gone above and beyond with their service. we are not picky eaters, we will eat whatever is on our plate lol but the one time we did have an issue with the dish. They replaced super fast and with a ton more to make up for it and then comped the dish, which we were not expecting! It's very cozy, and then too. Very neat, cozy vibe. read more

Horrible experience! Went to have family dinner after a very long day of working. We wanted to enjoy a nice relaxing dinner and instead it made our day more stressful and it made the evening a complete nightmare for our autistic son. There was a table, of three....mom dad and younger son..... the little boy was loud, so he was given a phone with max volume on games and shows. The manager, was best friends with the mom, and even after we asked for the device volume to be turned down, the manager set down at their table to have a friendly conversation. The volume of the device was never lowered, food was catered to this table of three and it had the upmost wonderful service available. My family of five, three kids with special needs plus mom and dad... had a horribly stressful meal and experience. It was an absolute waste of money and peace of mind. If you have kids on the spectrum do NOT go here. They don't care and would not help to make things enjoyable to anybody that is not a friend of the manager. Will never return here!!! read more

I ate at Sammios on Saturday night. I have been to this location years ago and the food was good back then. Sadly, after I ate Shrimp Fra Diavolo I began to have stomach cramps. I wrote it off as nothing.. soon this turned into nausea, followed by vomiting and diarrhea. Here I am on Sunday at 4 in the afternoon feeling like a survivor after a horrible war. Please be careful eating here. I don't usually give bad reviews but this was god awful! The shrimp had to have been bad. Do better Sammios. I won't be eating here again!!! read more

We visited mid afternoon. My brother got the flounder and I had a calzone. We both enjoyed our meals. The calzone was excellent and larger than I expected. Service was terrible. We let you know well in advance of our group coming and yet no effort was made to ensure we had even a minimal semblance of service. We had no utensils, it took forever to get drinks. In essence, it was the worst restaurant experience we have ever had. Just relocated to the area. Went here to celebrate myself accepting a new DOD job at Fort Bragg before I head back to California to tie up some loose ends. The service was amazing, the establishment was pristine, and the food was absolutely amazing. I plan on trying other spots here in Hope Mills, but I already know this will be a place that we will frequent once I'm back. Btw, the meatball sub is B.O.M.B. read more

After fifteen years of living in the area we decided to have dinner at Sammios. The decor of the restaurant is nice. They have a very nice bar area and the restaurant is clean. The wait staff is friendly and we were seated promptly. The menu is small and a little confusing for an Italian restaurant. The appetizer selection had three different types of french fries, onion rings and wings. Maybe for this area french fries and onion rings are a standard appetizer but i was expecting anti pasta or bruschetta. I ordered the spaghetti and added the optional meatballs which are priced each. So i guess build your own or something. Wife ordered the lasagna. Entrees are ala carte. Except for bread. The food arrived in about ten munutes. Service was good. The food....not so much. The spaghetti sauce was hot, meatballs and pasta lukewarm. It was bland, under seasoned. The plating was not appetizing and the purple dish had seen better days. Wife's lasagna was worse. The lasagna itself was not fresh made. The kitchen dumped copious amounts of cheese on top, i assume to hide that fact, put the dish under the salamander to melt the cheese. The cheese was scalding hot, balance room temp and bland. Plating was unappetizing. We both ate partial amounts and decided to call it a bad choice. Total check was 28 bucks. They seem to stay busy from the amount of cars in their parking lot. If you prefer the typical fast food Italian places or have kids, elderly or others that prefer a more bland diet this is a great place for you. Food is not bad, it is just not good. read more

Ignore people who are grumpy - Sammio's is a nice place to eat. We just left: Saturday 6:46pm - there's a party going on but the layout of the restaurant is such that there was no noise or disturbance. Milton, our waiter, was kind, attentive, & professional. We'll look for him when we come back. Most important: the food. Zucchini fritters were crispy & yummy ... I had manicotti with Alfredo sauce - if I was at home i would have licked the bowl. read more

This was my first visit to Sammio's, and I was brought by a friend. I am a very picky eater and very rarely try anything outside of my normal 'Merican fast food. The menu had plenty of items that I felt comfortable with, and on this trip I tried the pepperoni pizza. It was a Wednesday special, large one-topping-pizza for $7.99. I was pleasantly surprised, as it arrived very hot and fresh, and larger than I expected. I ate half the pizza there, and in interest of not looking like a sloppy pig, took the other half home, where I gobbled it down too. Also, as this was my first time, I tried any of the leftover bread on the table, which was delicious all on its own. The pizza was cooked perfectly, with crispy crust and crispy yet chewy pepperonis. The sauce was the perfect amount, not too thin but also not dripping, and was thick n' zesty. The place was not super crowded, but was busy, and service was fast and friendly. If the service is consistent like I experienced, I could see some people being overwhelmed, as it seemed that every employee that passed us by asked if everything was good and if we needed our drinks filled. I personally appreciated it though. All said and done, my bill was roughly $12 and I left them a $20. I definitely want to come back and try the mozzarella sticks, bacon cheese fries, burgers, and a few more items. It has a nice atmosphere, and you could hear the regulars chatting with the staff and across tables. Again, some people may be bothered by this, however it always makes me feel more comfortable and assures me that the place is good enough to have regular returning customers that can build a relationship. I can't speak to Italian authenticity and the expected menu, however for a 40-year-old adult with the food palette of a 12-year-old, I was thoroughly impressed. read more

This is my second time eating at this restaurant. I grew up in Germany and our apartment was literally above an Italian restaurant. We ate there frequently. Sammio's is far from authentic. Maybe it was at some point. The first time we sat in the large area to the right. It was like being in a dirty, loud and dingy lunch room. This time we sat on the left side where the bar is. We went on a Sunday around 1PM. Our elderly friend (in his 80's)in a wheel chair and his girlfriend got there before us and a young lady pointed him to the area on the right and told him to sit anywhere, they sat down and right away was told by a young gentleman that he could not sit there and needed to go to the other side. After he said he was told by the young lady to sit there the young man backed off. There were 2 other tables seated by the time I got there with my elder father and want to start with the seating. Everything is OLD and outdated. The benches are very low to the ground and the tables are high. Feel like I was sitting in a high chair for a child. The bench seats are so uncomfortable that my behind hurt from the old springs coming through the bottom and zero stuffing. I literally had to get my jacket out of the car so I would have some comfort while sitting. It was extremely painful sitting there. I ordered unsweet tea and was asked by Elizabeth if I wanted yellow or pink sweetener. I told her the yellow one- splenda. Dad ordered dr. pepper and specifically 1-2 cubes of ice. Took about 15 min to get the drinks we were Elizabeths only table. I got unsweet tea with no sweetner, dad got almost a full glass of ice. Another server came by asked if we needed anything I asked her for splenda and was told they were out. Why didn't elizabeth let me know instead of just blowing off the fact that I had asked for splenda/ yellow sweetner? She finally came to take the order and I was really in the mood for salmon. I asked if I could get something else other then mash potatoes it came with. I am not a fan. She said well you get one more side so you can just take one of those and she can have them keep the mash off the plate or it could stay on but you could not replace it. I asked her why we could not change it since I don't eat mash potatoes and she said the mash potatoes could not be switched because it is a garnish. (WHAT??) Then I asked her if it at least came with a salad she said sure you can take that as your side. SO I could get expensive salmon with mash potatoes I don't want and a salad but if I wanted any additional side it would be extra. What italian restaurant does not give a salad with an expensive meal? Its literally one of the most expensive meals on the menu. I ended up getting the sampler platter instead. It came out pretty quick. You could tell it was all fried in old grease. I had terrible restroom issues for literally 2 days. Dad had pizza and said it was okay. Elizabeth never checked in for drink refills, we had to stop one of the other servers and asked her for refills. That server brought out more drinks right away. In the mean time 3-4 servers/staff were standing around chatting it up. We finished up and left. I had taken home the cheese sticks and warmed them in the oven the next day because dad likes them and guess what? He also had 2 days of restroom issues. I am sure this Sammio's was probably a fine location many years ago but I am not a fan and will not be back. I know the sammio's on raeford is probably related and I am wondering if its any better since it got good reviews if we should take a chance and check that one out. Serious Hope Mills Sammio's fix your darn furniture! Change your grease! Please stock your sweetener and train your employees to follow up with their tables and LISTEN. I am a good tipper and would have left an extra tip since dad's friend took us to lunch and only tips 10% but sadly I just could not. read more

Almost a year later and if I could give them -50 stars I would. This time, I ordered a calzone with italian sausage, onions and mushrooms. Instead, I got pepperoni, onions, and (canned) mushrooms. Came here with a very large party of 40+ people. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is not regarding the food but the exceptional service. You would think with a packed restaurant + a large party of 40+ people would be too much and overbearing...these servers were on top of their game. Apps were rolling out within 15 mins, within a hour the entire party had their food and most were done eating. I commend the cooks and waiter staff. The food was pretty bland, I expected more as this restaurant has been around for a long time, but overall it was a positive experience. read more

Very good Italian food. I was pleasantly surprised with how nice the place is inside. My food tasted great, daughter's pizza was very good and my husband enjoyed his recommendation as well. I would say the only 3 things I wasn't a fan of are: there is no cocktail menu, no dessert menu and you have to pay with your waitress/waiter literally standing there waiting on you. Feels kinda pressured to even figure out how much to tip and such. Other than that, we will definitely be back. Food was great! read more

The husband and I had date night last night. We went to Grapes & Hops and I was in charge of finding a place to have dinner. I found Sammio's and it had decent reviews AND the pictures I found online they had gluten free options. It was a Friday night around 8:30pm. They were not excessively busy. We waited about 3 minutes to get a table. The hostess took us to a table, put the menus down and did not say a word. No biggie. We sat there...and waited...and waited and waited. I noticed on the menu there were no GF options. So we talked amongst ourselves for about 7 minutes. We both looked at each other and decided to leave. Just as we were getting up a guy came over and asked for our drink order. We asked if they had GF options and he said no. So we got up to leave. As we were walking out a lady (we think that she was a manager of some kind) was trying to get us to stay. She was saying "I am so sorry that no one came to you, let us give you an appetizer on us." I said no thanks. Then she made the offer of drinks and appetizers. All while we are walking out. I told her "sorry we are new in town and we thought we would give this place a try but we couldn't even get a water" still following us out the door she said "we will comp your meal" and my husband and I politely declined. I am sorry but for a restaurant that was not that busy, we should not have been ignored. I was looking forward to it, but I guess it is not in the cards. Arby's for the win. Thanks Arby's for not ruining date night :) read more

My family and I met here for a birthday celebration on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy for a Friday surprisingly and there were 10 people in our party. Our food didn't come out all at once and we understood that due to the size of the party. But, when I received my salmon it was raw. They could've looked at it before bringing it out of the kitchen and saw that it was not done. I sent it back immediately. The manager did not comp the meal. I ended up ordering something different and the food did not come out until everybody had finished eating and there was nothing offered to compensate for me not being able to eat with my family. Also, some of the prices were incorrect on the menu because of price increases due to COVID. They said the waitress was supposed to communicate that whenever we ordered, which she didn't. It had been a few years since I've eaten here, and I doubt that I'll return. read more

We have to give Sammio's 5 stars, what a great place to come and eat. The inside's really nice, spacious w/plenty of seating. Had a group of 6 for late Sunday lunch, fairly busy. Here's the dish's: Sammio's chicken w/spaghetti, spaghetti combos, lasagna, manicotti, pizza and 2 super sampler appetizers. Absolutely have to say A+ great, all had very large portions meaning everyone had "to go" boxes afterwards. The server was absolutely incredible, spot on knowledgeable and attentive. Service was very good, served hot and ready to enjoy. What a thrill to see this Sammio's Restaurant doing so well with their food, after all it's about the food! 5 stars means a lot to us, we all agreed it was an awesome experience, highly recommend. read more
