STAY AWAY - FAR, FAR AWAY. I was robbed when I was charged $400 an hour for the installation of a new water heater. The very kind man came in, removed my old water heater and replaced with a smaller one. First, he didn't review with me why he installed a smaller one until I looked at at the final installation and asked. His response was he "felt the house didn't need a big heater, this one is good enough." Second, I checked the price of this specific heater - $430 at Lowes and Home Depot. Third - when he was done he handed me the bill for $1400.00. When I asked him to break the bill down, since I had already looked up the price. So we broke it down together... $430 (heater) $30 new adapter/supplied needed for installation, then it came to installation fee. It came to $780. I asked "Why am I paying so much for installation? He didn't have an answer. I called Samaritan Installation myself and spoke with the manager. Her first response was of anger and asked; "Who broke the bill down for you?" When I shared we both did...she then began making up reasons - you had two installers - my response, only had two for 40 minutes as he helped the initial guy remove the old one. her next reason - it's not just paying for installation you're also paying for the scheduler - my response - so when this same gentlemen called the scheduler on Monday (while in my home evaluating needs) to put down he would be here on Thursday a.m., that's what I'm paying for. After further discussion and her actually running out of reasons it finally came to - "that's what we charge." SO STAY AWAY - no hot water heater is worth 2 hours of work at $780 installation fees. I spoke with a friend who had a new water heater installed a week prior to mine...she got a new larger heater, took the guy two hours to install - cost less than $900. STAY AWAY - FAR, FAR AWAY - these Samaritan's are not "good" samaritans! read more
