I arrived about 5 minutes early and - after "checking in" with the reception - was greeted by Jake at around 5:05 pm. He was very friendly and he immediately sat me down to discuss what I wanted. As usual, I had no idea what I wanted so I proceeded to ask him for advice and went from there. Afterwards I was taken to this downstairs room for the hair wash, which was amazingly relaxing. The ambience of the room was set perfectly - dim lighting and comfortable seats - and the person who washed my hair did an amazing job. I went back up to the main hair cutting room and had my hair combed, after which I sat waiting for quite a bit before Jake came back (I believe he was tending to another customer, which would normally bother me but for this experience didn't matter at all since I loved everything else so much). I was extremely pleased with the end results of the haircut. Never before had I been so content and felt so certain that the haircut suited me. AND the way Jake styled my hair in the end was amazing, too. I've become inspired to actually "do" my hair - on some days of the week at least! Overall I really loved the experience, mostly because Jake was so personable, tended to my needs/requests, and just awesome in general. I highly highly recommend this place - especially Jake! You won't be disappointed.

Do NOT and I repeat do NOT get extensions done here !…read more I went in a couple times to get a blowout done by Darren, which was great he did an amazing job each time. But when I finally decided to get extensions put in I quickly regretted it. The extensions were laying on the tray and they looked dull and frayed at the ends, even after asking her to make sure this was the highest quality hair. She said yes and continued to start putting the hair in. After sitting there for about FOUR hours they were finally in, and still looking frayed at the ends as if someone has already curled and straightened the hair multiple times. The woman putting in the hair clearly didn't say anything and Darren who cut and styled it said nothing either. So I said nothing also thinking it was normal, since I didn't know much about hair extensions to begin with. ONE WEEK later my hair starts to fall out. THREE weeks later about 8 pieces of hair have fallen out and I go back to get them put back in. She puts them in no problem. A couple weeks pass with the same problem (my hair falling out), I call to complain AGAIN and they said I could come in free one more time to get the hair put back in. This is where I started to REALLY get mad at John Frieda. I called them asking to book an appointment and each time they have said they would call me back with a date and time to do so. It's been nearly TWO months ! They have ignored my phone calls for two months ! I called about 14 times. This whole experience has been a NIGHTMARE and extremely unprofessional. I'm extremely disappointed with this salon, especially since I paid 1400£ I still haven't heard anything from them and decided to get my hair fixed by someone that knows what they're doing.

This is a story of new beginnings & inner strength…read more Back in the day when I was married, I was also broke. And then one day my husband left me. I was distraught. I was a pile of mush. I had long hair because he liked it that way. Fortunately I have a mom that knows how to take care of her daughter. The day after he left me, I had a long talk with my mom about what a cock he was and how I was in a mess because I was so broke. Me: (wailing) "I'm sick! Eric is an ass! Eff him! And I have long hair! It looks so awful!" (more wails) Mom: "Sweetheart, I'm so sorry. Go out & get your hair cut" Me: "But I am so broke, I can barely pay for food!" Mom: "I'll send you $500" Me: *Sniff* "...K..." Two days later, thanks to my wonderful mother & Western Union, I had enough money to keep me afloat and then some while I earned my first pay check. And the first thing I did, after making sure I had food to eat and chucking my wedding ring back at the bastard I moved to London for (that was dumb, I could have pawned it), was get my hair cut. Since I wasn't picky who I saw, I was able to get an appointment that weekend. When I came in, the hairdresser was very sweet & knowledgeable & I bet he loved me even more when I told him I didn't care what he did, just make it short & easy. Not only did he do that but he made it look fabulous. Granted shredding a symbol of 2 years with a man that you suddenly and utterly despise can help with that but he set me free and added a little sass while he was at it. My mother's money also funded my ticket to the company Christmas party where I received my first kiss no less than a week after my husband left me pissed & blurry eyed. From that moment on I realized that everything would be okay. I was clearly desirable, I had a good job, a well located apartment... it was an expensive city but I could totally do it if I wanted to. I could be the single girl in the city! I didn't get to be that before because I was with the bastard! I ended up staying for 5 more months. There was a lot of crying but a lot of growing up. And I thank my mom, that guy at the Christmas party and Bibas for that chance to realize how strong a person I really am.

I booked a week in advanced and when I arrived the owner said he decided that he wasn't going to cut my hair because one of his regulars wanted that spot....sorry, I thought we all made appts the same way. So, he sent me to one of his junior stylists. To be fair the stylist was nice, but unfortunately the average cut he gave me only lasted about a week before it turned to a hot mess. Think sort of 80s mullet meets a bob. Not a great look. Really disappointed to be first shuffled off so quickly and then get a haircut that I could have gotten in a strip mall. Not worth the trip.

I walked in and asked if I can have a blow dry and they said yes right away- the woman mentioned that they don't use round brush !!! "So how am I going to get bouncy straight hair ? " I asked She said it will be bouncy and straight it is just their technique is different Now I am always up for trying new 'techniques' ( which I could change) I sat on the chair and started observing the different signature 'technique' that Vidal Sassoon bunch do And I was not happy at all! It was something like giving a brush to a 5 years old and a hair dryer I had something similar to a rough dry that usually you won't be charged for at all salons in london! This technique of not using round brush and having very low heat and recently just allowed to use GHD s might be perfect for someone with naturally straight hair but my wavy locks need some pressure to make them look good !! You might think that I am exaggerating but when I was in a queue waiting to pay the man on front desk thought I wanted to have a blow dry ! Simple because my hair looked like it was not even brushed! No, no, Yelpers, I was all smiles. I'm sure this salon is open to everyone, but curly hair is where they really shine. Finding a salon that knows their way around curly hair is FANTASTIC because curly hair has it's own particular biological needs. Not only that, but it also varies in character from day to day, depending on the weather, the humidity, whether you washed it recently, its mood... I was so impressed with how much Maya wanted to understand my kind of curl; not just today, but also in general. She had me pull out my phone and troll through facebook to find good hair day and bad hair day pics. "Oh, I can get your hair curlier than that." she tells me when I show her a good hair day pic. And she totally did. This hair cut made me feel like WTF have I been doing with my hair all this time? It was shaped and layered and styled, and felt light and healthy. I also got some solid tips to take home: 1. Shampoo as little as possible - I knowwww but it feels so good when it's clean 2. Moroccan oil to hydrate - on it 3. A light, non-sticky mousse for hold - a welcome addition to the rotation 4. Diffuse dry upside down, or from below while reclined / laying down on the corner of your bed - oh, hello! Maya and I originally disagreed on the air dry vs diffuse dry debate. I'll fully admit that I'm low maintenance (lazy) and usually opt for an air dry, but I ::loved:: the way my curls came out after drying them ~60-70% of the way with a diffuser. I left feeling amazing and all for a reasonable price. I think I paid ~56 quid for top notch service.
