I joined the Aldershot DC Leisures gym, but being Army i travel home for leave periods now and then. The Aldershot staff said most DC Leisure Gyms will allow forces to attend a different gym at their home address for a short period (using their membership card) for free, or at least at a discounted rate. I contacted the Sheffield Sam Jones DC Leisures gym, and the manager said that i cannot have even a discounted rate, and will have to pay full membership if i want to use their facilities. I know its not a given that i should be able to use my Aldershot members card, or to pay 3 weeks at a lower rate, but after hearing its a common thing for other DC Leisure gyms to do, i feel that this Sam Jones one is not very flexible or customer friendly at all. I have since heard its near impossible to use any of the equipment unless you do night shifts, so maybe a good thing after all! read more
