I would not recommend this company because, although they're cheap compared to other companies, they are a middle man, who don't add value at all. They allocate you a firm and solicitor, so you could get a good one, or like me, you could get a really bad one - I've written a separate review about that company (Chadwick Lawrence). I think that customers coming via SAM Conveyancing are often given a worse service because they're paying less. When I complained about an unnecessary extra cost being added on I was dismissed by the solicitor, who said I should consider myself lucky because they usually charge even more. I told them that I didn't need this extra service as I would do part of it myself so SAM Conveyancing told me the fee would be reduced but the solicitor then came back and said it wouldn't be - poor communication between them, which is obviously problematic when the customer needs to know what is happening and how much it's going to cost. They then referred me to the Terms & Conditions and offered absolutely no apology or admission of any fault or cause for confusion. Because I asked for their complaints policy, they suggested I find another firm and start the entire process again, although you can't pull out without losing £190. In retrospect as soon as I realised how bad the solicitors were I should have done that and done the conveyancing myself.SAM Conveyancing claim that they are the point of contact so I kept asking them for updates since I wasn't getting any communication from the solicitor but all they did was send emails, which I was also doing. Eventually because they were also receiving no responses they were able to get in touch with someone else more senior at the firm who then did try to help. SAM Conveyancing didn't like me sending so many emails (none of which were rude in any way - I just stated that a lie had been told regarding what had/hadn't been requested/received from the management company, whom I was in touch with directly) and the director got involved and instead of apologising for the lack of communication and poor service I had been receiving, he accused me of violating the zero tolerance policy, which was an odd way to treat a client, who isn't receiving a service they're paying for. At one point I asked if they could allocate me to another firm instead but this request was ignored. I had to go back to them after the sale to query why the deposit I'd paid hadn't been subtracted from my final bill - the solicitor had kept it. I had to go back and ask for a refund. How many customers don't realise? It's a dishonorable outfit. If you need a conveyancer ask around for recommendations and ensure you're working with a specific individual you've been recommended. SAM Conveyancing is a gamble that is not worth the risk. read more
