Anyone who complains about lack of elevators and other modern accoutrements miss the point entirely. We loved this place. The employees were all pleasant and seriously helpful. The location is a short walk from downtown but on a quiet corner away from noisy crowds. Our room was comfortable with all expected amenities. The continental breakfast was fabulous with eggs, bacon, ham, and salmon cooked to order. Coffee and tea were piping hot and unlimited. The bartender/hotel manager was a very pleasant fellow named Gary who was more than willing to lend a hand or offer pertinent information or directions with a smile. On Tuesday and Thursday nights local musicians gather and play traditional English folk music. Free! And they are quite good. The bar and lounge are pretty much like they have been for hundreds of years and literally ooze with tradition. Great place to sip a beer or nurse a gin and tonic. Terrific place to stay. So glad we chose them. Great job folks. Now, if we can only figure out the name of that French ship that was captured during the Battle of Trafalgar and lent one of it's beams that now sits overhead at the bar.

I didn't mean to tread on one of their feet. A decent ale selection by Looe standards with Jail Ale, Tribute and Doom Bar. The Jail ale was pretty nice. Some decent old music was being played. At the door the young man said he would find us a table but not near the screen. I just wanted a few pints so it was no problem. Table service was very quick and friendly. Contactless payment. All perfect. A great old fashioned pub. Loved it.

High above the harbour with fab views. If you are brave enough, go higher still. We were only in for a pint or two but seeing the food made our mouths water and we relented to prawns with an outstanding relish which I have since copied. A relish of pineapple with various other ingredients but it's the hint of finely cut chilli that hits you. A fab harbour pub, friendly service by young staff (they need to be with those stairs). There is obviously an interest in music here too, with all the guitars on one wall and a keyboard and a drum kit in situ also. That said, the lack of atmosphere and two beers commonly found in the centre of town would cause me to think it unlikely that i would brave the car dodging pavementless route out of the town centre again No phone reception or wifi. Worth knowing.

There's room for another beer and if they keep it in such good condition then the place could really take off! Free wifi with 'the cloud' I have always thought that 'the cloud' sounded kind of sinister, like some kind of ill intentioned hive mind. No? Just me? Doom Bar or Tribute to tickle tongue and tonsils! Come the weekend though, put on your dancing shoes as upstairs is transformed into the number one (and only one )club in Looe. Open till 2am you can come, have a few drinks and dance to the up to date music provided by the dj. There is always at least one group of people out, dressed up celebrating a birhday, hen night etc and the people here are very friendly. I have made many a friend whilst chatting in the loos. If you are holidaying in Looe this is a must visit place during your holiday.

No No No No No No!…read more This is the worst kind of pub. Such an ugly place full of pool tables. TVs turned up load broadcasting music with adverts. I guess the overwhelming smell of cleaning products does mean that it has been cleaned...but its kinda gross. Had a half of Cornish Orchards Vintage Cider from a barkeep i have a hard time believing was 18!
