So far, this has been a great rehab for my mother who has had multiple strokes and a major brain surgery last week. So first week is intense on rehab, great gym, nice staff, great rooms and storage. Multiple layers of staff so moms only complaint has been timing of meals , especially coffee and breakfast but she's never happy. Staff can be obit some days, dragging on others but all in all, very helpful and kind. Nice easy to get to location in Suwanee just off 85 so happy for me coming down from Gainesville area. read more

Poor care of husband. He had bed sores that went unattended until I insisted on wound nurse. Facility had no heat for weeks . My husband had 4 blankets on him. Rehab was a joke. No progress was made to get him up and to stand. He was too weak and they should have work on getting him stronger instead of pushing him to stand and he was not ready to stand due to no strength. He was sent to ER after contacting Flu there and a month later contacted covid there. Needless to say we brought him home. He is do much better now. read more

I cannot recommend Salude to anyone looking for rehabilitation for a loved one. Before my father-in-law was discharged from the hospital, I received a call from Salude confirming that he had been accepted and that a room would be available that Thursday. Having previously worked there, I was genuinely excited because I believed it would be a wonderful place for him to continue his rehabilitation. Unfortunately, that confidence quickly disappeared. After my father-in-law was discharged from the hospital, he was transported directly to Salude. He was admitted, placed in his room, and we met him there. The first thing we noticed was the unbearable heat. The building's air conditioning was not working, and there were portable AC units scattered throughout the facility. At no point before his admission did anyone disclose that the AC was out. This was especially concerning for a rehabilitation facility caring for elderly and medically fragile patients. It got even worse. As we left briefly to buy him necessities, we received a phone call saying there was "a problem"--Salude had suddenly realized they didn't accept his insurance. How does a facility receive all of a patient's insurance information, approve the admission, coordinate the hospital discharge, transport the patient to the facility, move him into a room, and only then discover they don't accept his insurance? That level of incompetence is simply unacceptable. When I spoke with Natasha (a worker at Salude) to try to understand what had happened, I expected empathy and accountability. Instead, I was met with rudeness and an attitude. As someone who works as an advocate, I asked reasonable questions and pushed back on the situation. Rather than trying to help, it felt like I was treated as though I was the problem. The proposed solution was even more unbelievable--they wanted to transport my father-in-law back to the hospital by medical transport at our expense. Absolutely not. If we were paying for medical transport, we were going to choose where he went, and we refused to send him back to the hospital because of Salude's mistake. Thankfully, everything worked out for the best. We found an amazing rehabilitation facility with working air conditioning, compassionate staff, and people who genuinely cared about their patients. If your loved one needs rehabilitation, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. Salude has clearly gone downhill since I worked there, and after this experience, I understand why so many of the people I once worked with have left. For anyone looking for exceptional rehabilitation care, I highly recommend Parkside Ellijay. The difference in professionalism, compassion, and patient care was night and day. read more

Avoid this rehab facility. They have an apathetic and incompetent staff. Our mother was taken to this facility directly from Piedmont Eastside. She was not changed out of her clothing and allowed access to her suitcase full of clothes because the staff did not complete a clothing inventory checklist. They were too busy all sitting at the nurses station and I had to go over to the facility; complete the form and walk it over to their desks and put it under the head nurse's nose so she could sign it. Our mother did not receive a bed bath or shower the entire four days she was there. The head nurse outright lied to me that my mother had received a bed bath. Mercifully, my mother peacefully passed while there because of serious underlying medical issues that were not the fault of Salude. However, in the process of dealing with the stress of finalizing our mother's cremation arrangements we were advised by the funeral home that Salude had not properly filled out her Pronouncement of Death form and had to be taken back out by the funeral home to Piedmont Eastside Hospital, where capable staff knew how to complete the form. Moreover, we were advised by the funeral home that this was not the first time Salude incorrectly filled out a Pronounced of Death form. Instead of amending their practices and educating their staff regarding correct completion of this important document, they let a second family have to find out that their mother's certificate had an inaccurate time of death assigned due to their negligence. Finally, we had to send family members over multiple times to Salude to collect our mother's personal effects as the first time they gave us an empty suitcase that did not contain anything in it. The empty suitcase is pretty symbolic of the level of care your loved one will receive at this facility. This place should not be open for business to the public. I wouldn't let these people watch my beloved cat for me and I sadly entrusted them with the care of my best friend/mother. read more

How does a patient be admitted to Salude for five days and NO ONE on the staff realizes that the patient is unable to feed him/herself or hold a glass for hydration? The patient instead takes in little nutrition and has food all over him/herself. Even in the dining room this fact goes unnoticed as family members come in to feed their loved one. The patient tells the nurses. And STILL the nurses think nothing of it. That out of touch with patients? The supervisor said she didn't know anything about it! Seriously? The supervisor's communication with the nurses under her supervision is that poor? So family members and friends have to come to Salude to feed this patient and an outside nurse has to be paid by family to come in and feed this patient until he/she can feed themselves again. read more

My mother who is Anna Lewis Smith has had a very positive experience here at salude. We purposely chose to come back to salude and were felt we felt very fortunate that they had an opening for her she had been here in July 2022. Everyone here at Salude has been very considerate!!! There are a few people that deserve extra recognition for going the extra mile most often with their attitude and patience la Quinta, the nurse was particularly experienced and was able to answer so many of their questions she was quick to answer them too and never gave any indication that we were putting her out of her way Christine also one of the nurses here has been very very good with Mom she has had a sweet-natured impact on Mom on days when Mom felt discouraged her sweet attitude and getting down on Mom's level to talk with her made an impression on us all mom's favorite person of course is Judy and physical therapy mom related totally to her and I think she would take Judy home with her if she could Vicky has been great has kept me informed on everything and another special person was Jeanette in the dining room mom did not go and eat as often as she probably should have, so Jeanette was always eager for her to come down and she made that a fun experience I got her mom out of her room and made her look forward to being able to get to her home Senior residence and get back to being around people thank you all salude I hope I don't see you again anytime soon but if by some chance I had to I hope we'll be able to come back here. My sister died at this facility. Don't walk, run as fast as you can away from this place! This is a murder scene. She was not taken proper care of. It took 30 min to an hour for anyone to respond when she called for help. The food was served at odd hours and not on a schedule (diabetics need scheduled meals). The food was horrendous...tasteless, cold, plain, and colorless. She had just gotten out of the hospital for open heart surgery and the two nurses argued about who would clean up the blood after my sister had fallen and was injured in her room. Nothing was done timely (food, medications, or bathing). They did not clean the room after having been in there for 5 days, the floor was covered with bandages, pieces of plastic from various equipment, etc. My sister tried to straighten our sister's bed (as the nursing staff never did that) and the nurse came in and yelled "you can't do that - that's against the law." We were not allowed to sweep the nasty floor either. The family witnessed their horrible care of her. There was NEVER a doctor on staff. We told everyone who came in who was in the medical group there that no one was responding when our sister pressed the button for help, and each person would tell the family they would bring this up at the next meeting of the staff. My sister died BEFORE the next staff meeting! The only explanation we received from those horrible people was that she had pressed her button for help and went in and found her non-responsive. We do not have any records from this facility yet! The family has contacted an attorney. Win or lose will not bring back our precious sister, but maybe someone else's life will be saved if the doors to this Hell House are closed forever. My mother was admitted to Salude in November after a fall. While the facility is nice upon presentation, we have had several issues. some of the nursing staff is phenomenal, while the weekends and nights leave a lot to be desired. The Therapy is fantastic and very caring. The food is horrible and they leave the patients waiting on food for up to 45 minutes in the evening. We and most people that have visitors bring in three meals a day for the patients. When they say they have a grab and go, I don't know what they call that, but its chips and candy, nothing healthy and no vending machines. The kitchen staff while not employed by Salude needs an overhaul. My mother has been left in the bathroom on the toilet for up to 30 min while ringing for a nurse 3 times. They only bath twice a week. That is disgusting. I have had to point out issues with my mothers health to the physicians as they do not check the entire body. It is a constant battle with the directors to keep my mother there while she recovers. Very frustrating. read more

Phenomenal and beautiful place with amazingly friendly and accommodating staff. This place really is a game changer and the care it provides is beyond superb. Salude is like a fancy spa with chef services, big screen TV's and with acres of land which provide the perfectly serene environment for healing and recovery. I wish Salude were the standard and not the exception. The stats speak for themselves and you can send your family to a place where the first thing you notice is apathy and a foul odor or you can send them to Salude where you will always be amazed by the cleanliness, the friendly nature, and the attention to details! I was sent to Salude from a hospital after having my right leg amputated above the knee. I was excited to go to Salude, because my doctors had recommended it, my family had visited before my arrival, and they were impressed with the facility. I had a room to myself with lovely big windows. The staff, the people that actually care for you at Salude left much to be desired. My medicine was not delivered on time, and many times the incorrect amount was delivered. I had to ask, and ask again about when it might be brought down to me. My family had two meetings with staff in my room about this problem, but it continued. Once, at night my pain medicine was over an hour late, and I was in pain. When I asked once again, about when it would be brought, I was told I was one of seventeen people the nurse had to take care of, and I would have to wait. She was rude, and sounded angry. I developed a UTI and I told the staff about my new problem. They said I would need to provide a urine sample before they could treat me. I did. They sent it off, and it took five days to get it back. By that time I was very ill, and could not eat, or keep anything down, and I was in a lot of pain. My family visited me often, and a family member suggested that I might be getting dehydrated and might benefit from some IV fluids. The nurse who came to administer the IV did not have everything she needed. She had to leave my room three times to go after things for the kit. Then, she had to find an IV pole, and clean it. There was no machine to manage the flow of fluid, or problems with the flow. My amputated leg was oozing all over my sheets. No one seemed concerned, and my sheets were not changed. My daughter noticed that my room was not cleaned regularly. There was some paper on the floor that stayed there from day to day. Through out my stay, many of the staff were indifferent to my situation, and to my needs. Many seemed to be in an unfriendly mood, and resentful of my requests. I needed help with everything. I needed help to get to the bathroom. I needed help pulling my pants down, pulling them back up, washing my hands, and reaching for paper towels. Many times I was left on the toilet with the door wide open even though I had requested it be closed. The food was unappetizing and unappealing. On my last day at Salude, when my family had made clear they were moving me, my room filled with concerned people urging me to stay. Where had they all been all the time I had been there? I was very disappointed and disturbed by my treatment at Salude. It was sub-standard in almost every category, and not what my family, or I had expected. What if my family had not visited and checked on me? What if I had been a stroke victim and unable to speak? My family returned me to the hospital directly from Salude. I was dehydrated, malnourished, had a UTI infection, and infection in my leg. I spent eight days in the hospital receiving fluids, and heavy IV antibiotics. It was only toward the end of my stay in the hospital that I could eat soft food again. I had lost nine pounds from the time I entered Salude. I do want to mention two Salude staff people who were caring. One was a nurse by the name of Kurt, and the other was a very wonderful physical therapist by the name of Dani. Please, please realize that a beautiful building does not guarantee good care. If you have loved ones in any care facility you need to check on them often. The staff is what makes a place great, not the building! read more

My 85YO mother just returned home from a stay at Salude, & I cannot say enough great things about it. She fell & broke her hip, had surgery, then spent a week in the hospital. Then she was at Salude for almost 3 weeks, which I've heard is typical for one in her situation. She had to overcome the pain & learn to walk again, not an easy task for anyone, much less a fragile elderly person. She also has dementia, so she needs an extra layer of love to keep her comfortable. The caring, patient staff at Salude were excellent! Everyone (doctors, nurses, kitchen staff, housekeeping, OTs, PTs, SLPs, especially CNAs who spend the most time with patients & have the most one-on-one interactions) was sweet & gentle with her. They talked with her & got to know her. I was there every day & witnessed this. Salude - The Art of Healing doesn't feel like a nursing home or hospital because it is bright, clean, & welcoming. It doesn't smell funny. The facility is only 4 years old & is nicely decorated & modern. There are only 64 beds, & there is a waiting list. If you or a loved one need post-surgical rehabilitation, Salude is the best place for caring recovery. read more

The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing... The staff was mostly non-responsive and uncaring, especially Dee (The Executive Director) who purely cares about keeping beds full. My father was here for ~30 days during COVID after back surgery. There was no proactive action from the staff - my Dad lost 15 pounds in a month and they promised to weigh him daily. I had to call every day, sometimes without receiving a call back. There was a tech that helped my Dad regularly but most times he would hit "the nurse button" and would have to wait ~15 minutes for someone to show up. The facility is new and clean but the staff are young and careless, with the exception of a few. read more

Salud was an amazing place for my mother-in-law after her back surgery. All of the staff were amazing, her room was always clean! The physical therapist Beth was my mother-in-law's favorite! Every day she would have a fun story about something that happened or fun events going on. We could not have picked a better place for my mother-in-law to recover and regain her strength after her surgery. She walked out today excited to start her new life able to walk thanks to all of the staff there. STAY AWAY!!! Looks are deceiving!!! I wish I could give no stars. I'm at the ER with my mother, right now. She had back surgery and was sent to Salude for rehab. After only a few days under their no-care system, she has full blown pneumonia and high blood pressure. Because- no one was keeping her on her meds as needed or on schedule. They gave her antibiotics that made her nauseous and she couldn't keep food or liquids down for 3 days. Completely dehydrated! Despite her telling them this, they did nothing. It took my brother going down there and seeing her condition, calling an ambulance to have her transferred to a hospital ER to get her help. What the other reviewer says is true- it takes up to an hour before any nurse responds to a patient calling for help. There is no Doctor or nurse practitioner there at night and sometimes during the day. STAY AWAY!!!! They will try to sell you on its being brand new and beautiful- not worth it! Go to an established facility with an established reputation for good patient care. read more

I have a family member who had been at Salude shortly after they opened. It was a shiny new building with private rooms and big windows. We met with Dr. Wang and heard all about what they had planned for the facility. It sounded great. We already saw some shortcomings which we discussed with Dr. Wang and which we chalked up to growing pains. We haven't seen anything of Dr. Wang since. Nor had the problems we mentioned been addressed. My family member has been back a few more times after being discharged from the hospital. Things have gotten progressively worse and we will never be back. Here are a few examples of the problems. I found the bathroom sink was clogged. I mentioned this to a staff member and asked that it be fixed as soon as possible. Several days later, when the sink still didn't drain, I opened the trap myself and found it full of greens (collards or turnip, I never determined). No one from maintenance ever came to look at it, as far as I know. The shades that cover the beautiful big windows were broken. Dinner usually came about 8:30 PM. Oh, here's a positive comment: the food is generally very good. However, my family member is blind and can't see to uncover the dishes. Repeatedly reminding the staff didn't make any difference. In fact, the staff generally were hands-off, leaving her to fend for herself more often than they should I was told that, after a day or two, there would be a staffing. Great! I arranged my schedule to be there. The "staffing" involved the heads of the departments moving into the room as a group. Each gave a canned speech about what her department did. Questions and concerns were not answered and were deferred to some unspecified future time. Then they all made a hasty retreat lest I ask anything else. The impression I got was one of typical bureaucratic management. One stern staff member seemed to be in charge and others actually appeared frightened to speak independently. I've seen this kind of behavior in health care before and it speaks to a dysfunctional system. Response time from the nursing staff is typically very slow. A patient might be in pain or have another urgent need, but will have to wait until someone shows up - whenever that is. Up to an hour is not unusual. It's also not unusual to see the nursing staff sitting at the nurse's station while call lights are flashing outside patient rooms. The exception is when the department heads are touring. Suddenly they are up from their seats and checking on patients as quickly as they can. (Please see the above paragraph about dysfunctional systems.) My family member needed an important, common medication that the pharmacy, for some unknown reason, could not supply. So, we brought a supply from home. When my family member was discharged, we were assured we could pick up the remaining medication. When we came to get it a couple days after discharge, the staff said they had destroyed it. And we're still getting bills from the pharmacy (Alixa) when the facility should have been billed directly. Numerous calls to Alixa have made no difference. The bills keep coming. My family member ended up at another facility. The building wasn't shiny, like at Salude, but the staff were responsive, the therapy was good, and my family was kept informed of needs and concerns. We will never be back to Salude. We urge others to avoid it. I cannot recommend it when there are better alternatives. And I wonder if any staff members have the courage to post a review here, to let us know what's really going on inside that dysfunctional system. read more

My 86 yr old mom fell and fractured her right tibia and was admitted to Salude for physical therapy. At first mom was very discouraged and was not doing the physical therapy as requested. I voiced my concerns to the Executive Director Dee and asked if Dee could assign mom a physical therapist that could perhaps encourage mom to perform these tasks as opposed to just letting her get by. Dee immediately assigned the perfect Therapist, Laura to mom and Laura immediately was able to motivate mom to perform these necessary exercised through my moms pain was able to get moms mind off the pain and more on obtaining results and goals. Cannot thank Laura and Dee enough for going over and above to get moms results!! Many Thanks!! read more

Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience with Salude with my father. They were negligent in his care: after being informed that it appeared that he was starting to be delusional due to a UTI and may try to get up and walk unassisted, Dee (the Exec. Dir.) notified us that they would be very aware, check on him regularly and ensure that he would not fall, as that would be their greatest concern. However, they failed him, he fell and has a serious brain injury due to their negligence. The staff is untrained and on numerous of our calls, the phone was never answered. Even our veterinarian can do better than that! When it was answered, the staff did not know how to transfer the calls (seriously). After expressing our concerns about his potential UTI and delusions, the night staff simply said, "Well, asked me how i was doing when i went in his room just now, so he seems fine to me" and refused to either go in his room to ask questions (to see if he might be getting the UTI delusional thinking) OR to even chart my concerns. As noted by Alex C., Dee is the worst exec. dir. i have ever had the displeasure of dealing with: no empathy, no compassion or empathy, and merely concerned about keeping her beds full. When i asked about his care, she simply said that i'd get a call once a week from the facility to update me on his condition. No one ever did the initial intake call: I had to call them to find out what was going on. When he fell, no one notified me from the facility; even though they had called me to check in the day before, they instead said that they had my incorrect phone number in their system, which was untrue, but just covering their backs. This is an inept place with uncaring people, and i would be terrified to have a relative in their so-called "care." read more

STAY AWAY!!! Do not be fooled by the beauty of this facility. The care is more important than beautiful surroundings. The nursing care is horrible. My husband was an inpatient there and received terrible care. If you push the button for an attendant, you may be seen way too late or not at all. My husband had to use the restroom, push the button and never received an attendant. He could not get up out of bed to go by himself. In addition, he was not mentally capable to understand what was happening to him. This was due to a lack of medication that he was NOT receiving from the nursing staff, we later found out. During this time, I was not there but came in shortly thereafter. When I got to my husband room he was laying in bed naked, with feces all over him, the gown and in the bed. He was covered up with an open grown to hide his nude body. It was as if someone just threw a gown on him to cover him up quickly. When I screamed, the nursing staff came rushing in wanting to clean him up. Another time, a nurse took his glucose count and almost gave him insulin with a blood glucose count of 94. He is NOT on insulin so if I had not stopped her, she would have injected him with it and his sugar level could have possibly dropped to a diabetic coma or deadly level. I could go on with other nursing staff horrific incidents, but I will just say "if you care about your loved one, do not send them to Salude." My husband caught pneumonia and was in the hospital for 11 days due to the negligence of the nursing staff at Salude. They should have notice how hot he was and confused he was, that something was wrong. He had a fever of 103 and I alerted the nursing staff of his condition. My husband probably would be dead if I was not with him at Salude. read more

I would highly recommend going elsewhere for your care. The facility isn't properly set up correctly for joint replacement rehab and being a nurse myself, I expected so much more. They didn't even have a chair for a patient to sit in that allowed for leg elevation, which was important to my family member's rehab and positioning. They didn't offer a lot of what is standard elsewhere. I saw so many breaches of HIPPA and poor standards of care carried out. When going to visit my family, I overheard nursing assistants speaking very poorly of a patient, literally gossiping in the hallway. I witnessed call lights gone unanswered for unacceptable lengths of time, as well. I witnessed staff speaking rudely to patients and having very little patience or not even answering their questions. There is a language barrier in many cases because there are staff members who speak broken English at best. The pretty building is a facade, don't fall for it. Their admission staff is so friendly, but the nursing staff that you deal with during your stay day-to-day doesn't reflect that demeanor whatsoever. I will say that the Physical Therapy Dept staff was somewhat nicer than the Nursing staff. Believe the negative reviews you read here, they're accurate indeed. It has beautiful grounds and landscapes, very clean and lovely on the inside, the nurses and the assisting staff are great with a very calm, helpful and caring attitudes. Each patient has their own suite with big picture windows looking out at the beautiful landscape. The meals are good they have a very good nutritionist. You have a person therapist to work with you daily, and they get to know you and your limit of ability and are there to help you feel good about what you have accomplish. The therapy center has top of the line equipment. My husband was there for 21 days and has great results with his total rehab experience. I was very happy with what I saw and my interaction with the total staff. I highly recommend Salude Rehabilitation if you want good care. read more

This place is not what people say. They are very inattentive and don't take care of their patients. They keep lying to my mother making promises they don't keep. Tonight a nurse named Kisha flat out mistreated my mother and refused to help her. Don't put your loved ones here! First, let me say if I could rate the therapy staff separately, I would give them 5 stars but as for the nursing staff, I would give them less than 1 star, if that was an option. Since rehab takes, at the most, two hours per day, the other 22 hours you are at the mercy of the nursing staff. With the exception of one nurse's aid, the whole experience was awful. My 90 year old mother broke her hip and Salude was highly recommended to us for rehab. We also chose them because they are strickly rehab, not a nursing home combo. Sadly, they lack the ability to properly care for simple needs such as ice (which I was happy to get myself but was not allowed). If you ring for a nurse, it could take up to 20 minutes before someone responds or sometimes not at all (both of these happened to my mom). Although it was clearly written on her board that she is legally blind and her meds needed to be crushed, this was completely ignored by the entire staff up to and including the last day of her 19 day stay, even though I discussed this problem with two head nurses and every nurse that came to dispense her meds. My mother was told by one nurses aide that she could not go home until she was able to go to and from and take care of her bathroom needs alone, which was an outright lie. I could go on and on but, hopefully, you get the picture. We will never again use or recommend Salude. read more
