We've been going to see Amanda for over 10 years. When she would cut my daughters hair it would always be the same routine, wash, cut then dry. I always tipped Amanda over 20%. My daughter always enjoyed the routine. Especially getting her hair washed. It made her feel happy.
About two years ago me and my daughter went there and a new lady with brown hair cut my daughters hair. We were disappointed that it wasn't Amanda but she was too busy giving her husband a haircut in the back. The haircut took 5 minutes (with Amanda it would take 20). When done, the hair stylist went to the cash register. Me and my daughter we're looking at each other, wondering why didn't she wash my daughters hair? The lady said would cost extra. I said, she always has her hair washed. Why didn't you even ask? I asked her what made her think that we couldn't afford the hair wash? The lady was dumbfounded, fumbling her words with an excuse. She offered to wash her hair but at that point it was too late and defeated the purpose. I then asked her don't you ask everybody that comes in if they want their hair washed? She said no, I said she should.
It was at that point that Amanda came out in an argumentative way and said not everyone gets their hair washed. And I looked at her and said we've been coming here for 10 years and you always wash my daughters hair. I said every place I have ever had my haircut and I always asked if I want my hair washed.
At this point things could've been resolved by Amanda, rather than Amanda saying something like, "l understand where you're coming from how about next time I'll give you a free haircut and will wash your daughters hair?" Instead she argued with me about how a lot of customers don't get their hair washed.
I was not happy with Amanda's demeanor. She acted like she didn't even recognize us as regular customers. I was so frustrated that I wanted to speak to their corporate parent company to get resolution. Her husband comes out who is some sort of bodybuilder wearing these tight clothes and starts flexing, attempting to intimidate me. I ignored his immaturity.
At the time I have no idea who this guy is and he tells me to get the hell out of there. And I said who are you and he said he was an owner. I said why are you telling a paid customer who has a legitimate complaint to get the hell out? He did not respond, he just kept giving me a snarly faced look.
Both Amanda and her husband said they were the owners. And there was no one higher up than them. Again he told me I need to get the hell out of there.
Frustrated by their unprofessionalism and lack of respect for long time customer who is also a POC and tips generously, I then took a picture. And I said well maybe I'll just post my experience on Facebook? Her husband immediately stopped all of his antics and then has a concerned look on his face.
What made it worse was during the whole time there was some lady in the back room who apparently stalks my Facebook page and was she was saying all kinds of negative things. Saying stuff like I always play the race card all the time and I don't even know her! Amanda never told her friend to be quiet Instead smiled at her negative remarks.
Me and my daughter left completely hurt and disappointed. I asked a lot of people if they always get their hair washed before a cut. Every single person said yes.
I think the way Amanda and her husband handled the situation was very immature. Sadly my daughter felt embarrassed by Amanda and her husbands hateful demeanor and doesn't want to go back anymore.
It was at one point my daughters favorite hair salon to go to. But unfortunately Amanda, her husband and racists stalking friend in the back ruined that experience.
Amanda must of felt a little bit guilty about the situation. It was later brought to my attention that she posted on her Facebook page about the incident. Mentioning my daughters name. I told her husband to remove my daughters name from your Facebook page. All people should be treated equally! read more
