I booked an appointment to…read moreget my roots done and was genuinely looking forward to having a little time to myself as a busy mom of two. When I arrived, I had my two-year-old with me in a stroller. She was calm, quiet, and watching a movie completely unbothering anyone. The salon itself was nearly empty, with only one other client present. Instead of being welcomed, I was immediately met with a very cold and judgmental attitude from the front desk. I was looked up and down, along with my stroller, and told in a very rude and inflexible manner that children were not allowed and that I would either need to leave or reschedule. As a mother, it is not always easy to find time for self-care, and I made the effort to come in for this appointment. The lack of empathy or basic courtesy was honestly shocking. There was zero attempt to accommodate, problem-solve, or even speak kindly. To make matters worse, I was charged $75 (50% of the service) simply for having to leave despite the fact that the situation could have been handled with basic human decency and flexibility. I do want to note that Desi, the hairstylist, did try to be kind while witnessing the way I was being treated, and I appreciate that. I understand this situation was not her fault. However, the overall customer service and experience are a direct reflection of the business she represents. This was the first time I've ever experienced something like this at a salon. I left feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and frankly, discriminated against for being a mother. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this salon especially to other moms. There are plenty of places that treat clients with respect, kindness, and understanding. This was not one of them.

After spending a good amount of time reading comments- good and bad- I decided to go with David. I'm very disappointed. My hair is a very simple, shorter bob- it had grown out and need to be cleaned up. I was look for a simple but sassy look. I went in with several pictures so that he would have an idea of what I was open to- he dismissed the pictures and told me he knew exactly what to do. This is the worst hair cut I have had in nearly twenty years. I can't decide if he was just being lazy, maybe because my haircut didn't offer much for his creativity,or if he lacks technical skill. He 'stacked' my hairline in the back but did so without blending, so now I have a very heavy hair line in the back, that curls and separates from the rest of my hair. Luckily, it's not so bad that it won't grow out soon enough and I'll start my search for a stylist again. Reviews for David point out how funny he is, and I will say that he has a pretty solid stand up routine going on. Lesson learned.

Yes, I do my own bleaching at home. No, we are not unpacking that. Shelbie was assigned to me at HAAS Salon and I genuinely loved her. Professional, funny, easy to talk to, and not one comment about the state of my hair. She kept the conversation lively and made the whole appointment feel relaxed instead of awkward. Time passed by quickly.. Now, a small but important note. I brought my mother because that is just what we do. We grabbed food next door and sat in the waiting area finishing our vegetable rolls before my appointment. Apparently, that is not the vibe. Also, if your guest is not getting a service, they would prefer they not hang out in the waiting room. To be clear, Shelbie handled both the eating in the waiting room and my mother observing the entire process with total grace. She stayed professional and kind throughout. In the end, my haircut turned out beautifully. Clean, Layered Just Right, exactly what I wanted... current on trends too. So thank you, Shelbie. You handled the situation like a pro, and I walked out very happy.
