I have been going to Krista Vieira for the past year and she is amazing! I decided to write this because I just went to a wedding last night and received so many compliments from my family and friends who've not seen me since I've starting going to Krista. My hair has so many shades of blonde it's not one flat color. It's bright, and just an amazing shade of wheat. She tells you how to care for the blond too with toner (purple) shampoo so it stays amazing! I am crazy happy with her services! Called twice during business hours and got an answering machine, left messages. Over a week later Martha finally returned my call to let me know rather rudely she is not taking any new clients. Jeez, just needed a little trim. Guess you should cross Martha off your list unless you're already a client. She did not offer to book me with anyone else in her salon, so guess she is alone or doesn't care about her other hairdressers who might like another client. I have been going to Vidal Sassoon in San Francisco for over 25 years and never had Sassoon not answer the phone during business hours, not promptly return phone calls or be so rude on the phone. Guess I will just make a day of it and drive to The City and see my old friends. Probably a better choice anyway. read more

All I can say is-- amazing. My whole family has been coming to this salon for years (to Jeanine specifically) and we have never received an experience less than awesome. The salon is incredibly clean, welcoming, and beautiful. Jeanine is someone who loves what she does and puts her whole heart into her work. She is an incredible hair stylist and makeup artist. She is an absolutely beautiful person and her heart is so kind and generous. She wants to learn all she can and constantly signs up for classes and courses beneficial to the art of hair and makeup. She keeps up with the hair and makeup trends and is a person you can always count on to make you feel beautiful. She is all you could hope for in not only a hair stylist but in a person. If you want to get your hair done the right way, this is where you have to go! I go to Martha Souza, who is also the owner of the salon. She has been doing hair for a long time, and she knows how to do it. She has done different colors on my hair, mostly blonde, and that is one color past stylist have never satisfied me with. She cuts great, and I told her I wanted to grow my hair out. She told me to come in between cuts to get a deep conditioning treatment done so when I came in to get cuts she wouldn't be cutting off as much hair. Martha has made myself care for my hair way better than past stylist. She uses products that are AWESOME and I even buy them, I used to NEVER buy products. My hair is in great condition thanks to Martha.. Besides her, her whole staff is amazing. They have nail technicians as well, and she brought in purses, jewelery, and clothes that you can shop around while you wait. The whole staff does women and men hair. read more

Update! After trying to become one of Martha's clients for four years, I was finally able to sneak in for a one-time cut. Martha kept me as a client and I just celebrated 10 years of awesome cuts/colors! The poor experiences a few people related happened when the salon was still in its infancy, but for several years staffing has been stable, reliable, and experienced. Customer service is top notch - I hope readers will not be dissuaded by the old reviews that were less than 5-stars - this IS the place to go. read more

I also go to Martha, she's the owner and she's amazing. She hand selects the other stylists for her salon because she doesn't take new clients, but wants to have someone to refer you to. They're all really nice people, very professional and very skilled at their craft! Be prepared to schedule your appointments in advance, but they're worth it! read more

My family and I have been coming to this salon for years! All of the stylists are so sweet and talented. My sister, grandma, and I all get our hair done by Jeanine Hall - she has done our makeup and hair for special events, highlights, balayage, and great cuts. She is incredibly talented and every time I talk to her she tells me about how she is continuing her training and expertise in new hair trends - even going all the way to Vegas for hair conventions! I love that she is constantly learning and improving! I don't trust many people with my hair but I totally trust Jeanine. She is a natural with all things beauty and clearly has a passion for what she does. Not only that, but she's such a kind and down to earth person which makes the process even more enjoyable. This Salon is over rated, perhaps this is because they are a very established salon within a small town. I was referred here by a friend, and was extremely disappointed with my experience. The women who I scheduled my appointment with, didn't seem interested in making small talk with me (even though I was a new client) and spent the majority of my session on her cell phone texting. For a very simple touch up color and trim I spent nearly FOUR hours in the salon. Customer service is really off, but maybe it's because they have an established clientele, so they don't feel the need to impress new clients. Whatever the case, it put off a bad vibe and I'll be looking else where to get my hair done and shave off a couple hours to get back to my life! read more

I have been in Merced for 7 years and each time I've needed to get my hair cut here it's been a complete mess. I have very straight Asian hair, which means ALL mistakes can be seen when you cut my hair. I typically go back to the Bay Area to get my hair fixed from all the Merced mess ups.....BUT all that has changed... HARLEY...was the guy who cut my hair and he was great. Horrible!! I had a hair appointment with "Jami" (can't remember her name). She did my hair, told her I loved it, scheduled another appt. four weeks out (before a Vegas trip), recommended her to all my friends. Four weeks later I arrive to my scheduled appt. to find someone sitting in her chair, smack in the middle of a dye job that wasn't gonna end soon. She looks at me and tells me, "I didn't have you down. I can't do you today." What could I say? I left very upset as I had to find someone to do my hair before a VEGAS TRIP!!! Luckily, Main Street Girlz, Irma Lopez took me in. She is AMAZING!!!! Irma has done my hair now for about 8 months non stop, consistantly and doesn't play games. Later "Jami" texted me that she "didn't want to do my hair and felt that i didn't like her work last time so she didn't know how to tell me." WHAT??!!??? How about telling me that you didn't want to do my hair in advance and not a day before Vegas??!!?? I don't know where she got this from? I told her I loved her work, gave her a great tip and referred my friends?!?!? Bottom line-NOT GOOD BUSINESS!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! She needs to learn a thing or two about how to run a business and how to talk to her clientelle. read more

Harley at Salon Di Capelli is awesome. I've lived in Merced now for 9 years and it took me 8 to find him. I've tried lots of place and never got a cut like he gives me. I explain what I wanted and I'm not good at that and he does an awesome job. I've never gotten a bad cut from him. I've always left there feeling great. The atmosphere in the salon is very upbeat. All the people there are super friendly. They are very classy, theres not all the drama and gossip I've seen at other salons. If you have to wait a few minutes they offer you wine and coffee. There is also jewelry, purse and accssories for sale in the corner. His prices are good. They are more then the average place (not much higher) but I definitely get what I pay for. He is worth it. You'll have to make your appointments in advance, it takes awhile to get in with him but worth the wait. read more
