They take walk ins. They run on time and are open on Sunday. The man cut men's hair and I watched him while I waited for the woman to do a blow dry. He was doing a good job. The woman just blow dried my hair( I had already washed it) and yet she charged me 30 euro which I think was too much. The woman did a great job styling the hair of the lady ahead of me. unfortunately, when it came to me, the blow dry was serviceable but not great. I was nevertheless happy to have found the place so close to where I was staying. I think she treats her regular customers better so if you are going to be one, you will be happy. read more

Carrie rocks! She is the absolute best when it comes to color and style. I've been going to her for years and recommend her to everyone. While she can color anyone's hair, she is especially talented when it comes to blondes. There are so many shades of blonde, and depending on your hair, blondes often turn that unwanted brassy shade. Not with a Carrie, this woman knows what she is doing! When I was going through some stress, and my hair was feeling it (translation, falling out) she boosted my confidence by showing me how to use extensions. At first I vetoed the idea thinking it would be impossible, take too much time and look fake. Wrong on all accounts! Takes five minutes to put in and they look unbelievably realistic. Again, Carrie rocks! On the days Carrie colors and styles my hair, even if I have no plans, I go out by myself. Hair looks way too good to stay home! Carrie's prices are totally reasonable. Carrie is the master for great blond hair.. She can transform you from looking like some sorry looking, black rooted, trailer park mess, into a blond goddess that will have Jennifer Aniston shaking in her boots, seething with envy. Oh that and she is lightning fast.... UNREAL how quick she gets you in and out. Her prices are very reasonable for the quality of service. I love this girl and for 2 years have traveled from Seattle to Portland to get my hair DID by Carrie. I have been going to Carrie for the past 10 years. I have had long hair, short hair, blonde, brown, styles for occasion, etc. she has always done an amazing job. I recently moved to California and have yet to get anything close to what Carrie can do. She has also cut my children's hair. Our hair is straight and often times looks choppy after a cut. Carrie is amazing at blending hair and layering. I have never been disappointed and will miss having a perfect cut and color every time. read more

I went Salon Degas because I was in the area and they were able to fit me in right away. I'm so glad I found this place!!! Carrie was wonderful. She has a very unique way of doing layers that gave me the look I've been trying to achieve for years. Finally someone gets it!!! I absolutely love Salon Degas, especially my stylist Holly! I have been going to the salon since they opened and have been seeing Holly since 1998 when I was living in the area. I moved to the Seattle area about 5 years ago and continue to make the return trips to Portland to see her. I love that I can come in with an idea of what I want and Holly will tell me whether it will work or not and how I can modify it if necessary. Love it, love it, love it!!! read more

Carrie is the absolute best! I live in San Francisco, but insist on seeing her when I'm back home visiting in Portland. It's so hard to find a good stylist, especially with fine hair. So many people I've gone to have ruined my hair and Carrie always comes to the rescue. She loves what she does and it shows. Just trying to check out the hair products and this tiny dog kept barking at me. And wouldn't stop. One of the women there, presumably a customer was saying, rather mildly 'Petey, stop!' The dog is like, dominating the place and basically no one is doing anything! Then, it turns out to be the woman's who is working there! No one can hear themselves think, and she WORKS there!!? Super un-professional and really, if you're going to have a dog at your salon (ewww) then at least don't let it be the Alpha at the whole salon and drive potential customers OUT. read more

Carrie is fantastic! She really helped me understand what bang cut works for me and why. She did a fabulous job on my long, thick hair and just as good on a much shorter cut for my daughter. This place is adorable and so is Holly, the stylist who fixed my hair. And I mean fixed. Because who let's their boyfriend trim the hair?! Me. So he purchased a Groupon for here after I did my research since we are traveling and had no idea who to go to. Holly was fantastic and fixed me right up into exactly what I wanted and asked. I found a fabulous Groupon for a cut and full highlights with color at Salon Degas. I called about a week before I wanted an appointment, and Holly had no trouble fitting me in (which is always a concern of mine with Groupons; sometimes places underestimate their ability to accommodate so many Groupon customers!). Overall, I had a really good experience, but just a few things kept me from giving the place 5 stars: First, Holly was running about 30 minutes late. In my experience, running behind is not unusual for salons, but 30 minutes was a bit inconvenient. Luckily, I had no immediate plans, so I was fine to wait. Second, they did not have any color books. I'm used to being able to discuss with my stylist and choose precisely what color(s) I'd like in my hair, so I was a bit bummed about that. Instead, we used a picture from a magazine. As a result, my color came out a bit darker than I planned, but it grew on me. Now to the great stuff! 1) Even though I had a Groupon, I was treated like a valued customer. Holly gave me a glass of wine and some chocolate and was very pleasant to work with! I did not feel like she was phoning it in. 2) Holly stayed about 40 minutes after the official closing time to make sure the job was done well and not rushed! 3) The salon is super adorable and owned by Carrie and Holly. I love the fact that they own the place and aren't renting stations; Holly has so much pride in the place, and it shows! Overall, I plan to be back, paying full price. The work that Holly did is worth the full price, but if they do offer a Groupon, go for it! Know that you will be treated well and your hair will look great (for a fabulous value)! read more
