I am not a person who typically leaves reviews...mostly because I believe that second chances are important and necessary because everyone makes mistakes. However, I feel that it is important to leave this review because of how disappointing and awful my experiences here were. I was set up for my first appointment with Salon Aquarius for a coloring appointment. I went in and met the stylist. She was super sweet and listened to what I wanted; so, I thought it was going to be a great experience. I sat through the hair coloring process, she washed & glazed my hair, and then we went to the other room for her to blow-dry and style the newly finished look...and this was when the issues started popping up. I noticed that the top of my hair looked basically the same as before - if anything, it looked lighter (I was going for a darker, fall vibe). I also noticed that the back of my hair actually was darker, and it fit the color that I had wanted, but there was a very distinct line where the color of the top and front of my hair didn't match the back. I didn't say anything at first, because I figured the lighting was probably making it look lighter than it was. However, about 3/4 of the way through blow-drying my hair, the stylist stops, looks at me, and says "I'm so sorry, this is NOT it." .....Okay, I'm thinking, well at least I'm not losing my mind, right? The stylist apologizes profusely, and she offers for me to come back the next day and have it fixed at no extra charge. I tried my best to reassure her that it would be okay, and that I would come back the next day as planned. I genuinely felt bad for her, but I was also glad she was willing to make it right. Fully believing the stylist's promise to fix the botched look, I paid ahead of time (I know, I know - I learned my lesson). Fast-forward to the next day: I get off work in the afternoon (after having to wear my hair in a ponytail all day to cover up the awkward line across my head), and I drive back to the salon to receive my promised "re-do." I tell the person at the front desk that I'm there to get my hair fixed from the day before, and she runs off to the back. Alright, hold on folks because it's about to get bumpy. A completely different stylist comes out from the back of the salon and says, "so do you know the situation?" I say no. She proceeds to tell me that my stylist from the day before QUIT. I was shocked and worried that it was somehow my fault, though I thought I had been pretty understanding. The other stylist says no, and we talked about how they didn't have any other stylists available for another two hours, but she promised that they would fix it if I had the time to wait for someone to be open. I waited patiently. Another completely different stylist comes out and tells me that she's just going to re-glaze my hair because the reason the color "didn't take" was because the glaze wasn't left on long enough...... Now, I don't know much about coloring hair, and I will be the first one to admit that. However, I'm a logical person, and that explanation did not seem logical - again, I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be that type of smartass customer. When she went back to prepare the chair for me, I quickly did some googling, and it confirmed my suspicions that a re-glaze would most likely not resolve the problem. As I was walking back with the stylist, I started politely asked questions about the process of glazing and how it would fix the problem. Her explanations were still not logical, but again, I don't know that much about hair, so I didn't say anything else to question her expertise. To make a long story short, she blow-dried my hair and her and the other stylist next to her kept emphasizing how much better my hair looked after the glaze and how it was completely fixed. Even from sitting several feet away from the mirror, I could still see the line in my hair where the colors were different (I will say it was at least 3% better). They all continued to gaslight me until I left the salon, and even suggested that I leave a tip for the second stylist since I had already paid and was "getting it for free." I left, went home, and cried. I spent over $230 for my hair to look like I had messed up trying to box-dye myself. Please don't go here unless you are absolutely certain you trust the stylist. And learn from my mistakes - don't pay until you are satisfied with the service you are given. read more

Set up appt with one of the listed Stylist. When I got to appt, they set me up with a young girl (not who I set up appt with). Fine - The young lady was NOT a season stylist. Very hesitant to cutting my hair, she did try. I have never had a worse haircut in my life. Not that she didn't try. I gave her a very generous tip since I do not think it was her fault, it was the the Salons' fault!!!! read more

I'm going to say 5 stars but I only visited one time. First off the decor is super Parisian and such a vibe. The art is also really dope. The atmosphere is very inviting and I was honestly blown away with the results. I loved the experience I had with Emily, she had a hard task but she really brought the life back to my hair. I can't explain how terrible the cut I got there is. I have lots of pics though! I went there for the stylist to fix a problem and she literally ignored what I asked for multiple times and did the exact opposite. I asked her to not put in layers. I asked her to make both sides the same. She made one side 3 whole inches shorter than the other...with layers just on that side! I have short hair. Cutting 3 whole inches shorter on one side is a problem you can't cover up or disguise. Add to that I'd just had my hair beautifully colored and glazed (by an amazing colorist Maddie. She was awesome with the color and customer service.) So when the stylist put the layers in on one side she cut off all the glazed hair making the darker hair underneath stand out. That ruined the whole color treatment that cost $100 and made everything that was cut like krap stand out even more. So I wait a few days to stop flipping out and came up with some options for cuts that I could live with til her mistakes grew out. Made an appt...not a re-cut mind you. I never once complained. Never asked for anything for free. I just wanted to fix it enough for people to stop staring at my lop sided hair when they talked to me. I went in and the stylist flipped out on me. She was the most hateful, sarcastic, defensive, snippy ----- to me. Long story..well not so short...she blamed it all on me. Blamed some other bad cuts on me. Lied to me like I was stupid. And...essentially threatened me with "I can either cut it all off or blow dry it. WHICH DO YOU WANT?!?". Well... I had her blow it dry so I could just get out of there. Then she hugged me at the end like it was all ok ??? (Insert vomit emoji here) Contacted the owner. He doesn't care. He offered me a refund which is..I guess what he's supposed to do. But it's not what I wanted and doesn't give me my hair back. So if you want a cut and you're thinking about Salon Aquarius consider going to Supercuts and taking the remaining $50 and flush it down the toilet instead. But...if you're truly wanting that Salon Aquarius experience don't flush it and call me. I'll save you some money and talk to you like you're a piece of krap for $40! read more

Salon Aquarius is truly a gem. When I relocated to Knoxville I had a hard time finding a stylist I liked. I am picky when it comes to my hair. On top of everything, I was dealing with some health issues that was causing my hair to fall out! I had no idea what I wanted to do with my hair but I just wanted it to look thicker! Maddie (the colorist) and Malcolm (the stylist) figured out a cut/color combo that made my hair look way thicker. I was so happy. Maddie also suggested I could try extensions to add thickness. She was not pushy or trying to make a sale. A month later, I went back and decided to try the extensions and became OBSESSED. I finally had my normal hair back. The extensions I got lasted around 9 months. When it was time to get new ones, I went for a longer, lighter look. I couldn't be happier. If I ever have questions, they are always there to help. NYC prices in Knoxville TN!! I went in to get highlights in my hair and a simple trim. They have 1 person do the color, then you have to find an appt with someone else for the trim. I was unaware of this. Of every salon Iv'e ever been to in my life I've rarely not seen people not at least get a trim with color. After she dried my hair I realized that the color in it was nonexistent. It didn't even look like she had done anything. Then I got maybe 1/4 inch cut off of my hair. Guess what my total was?? $160!!!! That's without a tip, and essentially without any color in my hair at all. Needless to say I left livid and down $160! My hair looked about the same as when I went in. I will not be back and would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I will not be back to this salon. The most unprofessional and dull salon I have ever been to. This was my first time going to this salon a girlfriend of mine recommend it since she got an awesome hair cut from there. However my experience wasn't so great. The salon is a little hard to find on Kingston Pike even with my GPS. It is hidden in a shopping center. I arrived about 15 mins early for my appointment and I had to wait well over that for the stylist. Once I got in the chair the stylist hardly interacted with me or seemed interested about why I was there or what brought me in. She talked to her coworkers and she left me twice without saying anything. I believe her name was Audrie or Aubrey something similar to that. I hated my hair cut. It was nothing like I showed her in the picture. I wanted to cry, and they use awful styling products. The salon has no diversity at all up to the employees down to the products. Also seemed to be very little foot traffic. I paid for my crappy hair cut and left very unhappy. I had to fork out even more money at Belleza for a correction cut. I will not be back anytime soon! read more

Not only does she give me a great cut but she always shows me cute ways to style it at home. Had my second experience here at the salon with Maddie and Malcom, as well as a few other Salon representatives. First experience was amazing. Malcom, as well as the other representatives, did absolute wonders for my hair and Malcom ensured that the cut was perfect! However, I received a full balayage from Maddie which consisted of using a technique called back-combing the hair and then proceeding with painting. This was something I was unfamiliar with. Unfortunately, this procedure created matts of hair, similar to that of dreadlocks, that clumped at the top of my scalp and resulted in having three employees comb my hair in three different directions for nearly 45 minutes. I would not consider myself to be a tender headed person in the least, yet this caused me to experience terrible pain and embarrassment as I could not help but feel overwhelmed. Needless to say, it was a tear jerking 45 minutes. The end result was a lovely color, but the process itself was certainly not worth it and it is something I do not intend to experience ever again. Lastly, I was not compensated upon check-out, no discount, etc... I paid the bill of $172, walked out, and I do not plan to walk back in. I hope this will make other customers aware of this process, if they were not already, and realize what this type of balayage entails. read more
